they should invent a furry porn community that doesn’t use 4935157337528261637365263 different slurs for trans and intersex people
We will ALWAYS be here, and we will ALWAYS overcome!
Hhhate it when people on my side of an argument are making bad points. You’re literally right why are you being stupid about it
Seems like it should go without saying that if you just want your OC to have cool magical patterns on their skin you can just. Do that. Without calling it vitiligo. Y'all don't need permission to have cool character designs with patterned skin. It's just not vitiligo and you shouldn't call it that. James Cameron's Avatar gave us cat people with blue patterns and nobody's mad about it - because nobody is trying to call the cat people stripes Vitiligo.
I just got here and that seems like common sense to me. I don't get why it's so hard to understand.
If you want to represent a character with vitiligo then you need to represent it as it actually is: an autoimmune disorder. And if you're DYING to make it actually magical and fancy and prettified, then you're not actually interested in representing vitiligo, you don't care about real people with a real disorder. You just want a character with cool markings (which is fine) and as a complete afterthought you want the markings to also win you unearned representation points (which is loser shit).
THIS!!!
Like you really need to think about why you can only tolerate a disability if it’s pleasing to look at
I think the issue is that people are describing this as a bad TV season, but it's really much deeper than that. The final season of Sherlock was a bad season, the final season of Game of Thrones was a bad season. TVL / IWTV 3 is anti-Black. It is misogynistic. It has an open and glaring disdain for its Black and brown characters, and chose to be virulently anti-Black in a time of increased anti-Blackness. You are watching the corpse/ghost of a Black girl hurl racist garbage in a time where Black people are regularly being called slurs for simply existing. You are watching a Black man be branded... BRANDED! You are watching the whitewashing and babying of an unquestionably racist white man who beat his Black partner / helped lynch (yes, lynch, not stone) his Black daughter. You are seeing this done at the expense of a brown man.
Keep in mind, the characters are not making independent choices, you are not watching a documentary —you are watching the deliberate choices of an all white writers' room and a white show runner in a period of time where seventeen Black people have been lynched this year. In a time where countless Black people have been murdered in cold blood in June and July 2026 alone. This shit doesn't exist in a vacuum and pretending it does only adds more insult to injury. There is no turning your brain off in the midst of a slow genocide of Black people in america.
Even with federal grants largely restored, scientists say the Trump administration is still preventing those funds from reaching them. The c
Standing in his laboratory, Harvard professor Sean Eddy gazes at a row of vacant work stations. More than a year ago, this lab was filled with over a dozen researchers. On a given day they might be working independently on analyzing genomic sequencing or gathered around the group table, drinking coffee and helping each other troubleshoot questions about genomic data from different species.
Now, after his funding was terminated under the Trump administration, the computer screens are gone and the room is silent. He's one of the last people left.
" Seeing these labs empty — this is not the way it's supposed to be," he says. "This was a very vibrant lab."

im going crazy you have GOT to decouple romance/amatonormativity and marriage in your mind. you have GOT to understand that marriage is a legal document that protects you from exploitation especially if you are a woman or a stay-at-home anything. it is not some evil unique to heterosexual people. it is a legal document that says 'this is who i want in my hospital room when i die, this is who i want to have my stuff when i die, THIS PERSON OWES ME RECOMPENSE IF THEY KICK ME OUT OF THE HOUSE I LIVE IN"
You are not immune to being taken advantage of by your partner if you are queer. do not wind up homeless because your garbage live-ins name is on the lease and they decided to drop you like hot coals.
Adding to this:
This is why it is not assimilationist for gay/queer people to want to enshrine marriage rights in their country/region
Similarly, this is why polyamorous people are fighting for the right to have their relationships recognised by their states through marriage and/or similar agreements
Oh, and because on top of those aforementioned financial and medical protections, these laws also help you maintain connection to any kids you have and/or raise together!
I would go further and say, this is why we really should be looking to expand some of these rights so that marriage is NOT the only way they should be enshrined. (e.g. Why could I get married tonight to a guy I met this morning, and get him on my health insurance, but I cannot do the same for a sibling?)
Remember the fight for same sex marriage was never “we feel left out”, it was “we’re sick and not allowed to see each other. We’re dying and not allowed at the funeral. Someone who kicked me out at 14 just showed up for the first time 24 years later to tell the doctor to pull the plug, and they did.”
Marriage is a legal documentation of rights. Fully agree with prev that those rights should be divested from the concept of monogamy entirely, but for now we have to at least understand what they are

Hidden Health Risks Found in New York City's Free-roaming Cats
Shared from Phys.org.
Cats may be cute and adorable, but stray and feral cats can sometimes pose a risk to human health. Veterinary researchers have discovered that more than 50% of free-roaming cats in New York City carry parasites that could potentially be transmitted to humans.
The Big Apple has a cat problem, with colonies scattered throughout the city. While all animals harbor potential disease-causing organisms like viruses and bacteria, little was known about the prevalence of zoonotic parasites (parasites that can jump from animals to humans) among New York's street-dwelling cat population.
Researchers from Rowan University and Long Island University in New York examined blood and fecal samples from 87 outdoor cats captured through the city's TNR (Trap Neuter Return) program.
To look for parasites, they mixed stool samples into a special liquid that makes eggs float to the surface, a technique called fecal flotation. This allowed the team to count the number of eggs under a microscope. They also used tests to screen the samples for specific parasite proteins, DNA and antibodies that might reveal past exposure to parasites.
Hidden Hitchhikers
The findings, published in the journal PLOS One, showed that parasitic infections are incredibly common among the city's outdoor cats. "Overall, 57.5%... of cats were positive for at least one endoparasite species detected by fecal flotation," the team wrote in the paper.
The dominant parasite was Toxocara, a roundworm that can infect humans through contaminated soil containing microscopic eggs shed in cat feces, causing the disease toxocariasis.
"Male cats were significantly more likely to be infected with Toxocara spp. (OR = 4.36) and, along with juvenile cats (<1 year), shed significantly higher numbers of eggs ... identifying young males as high-intensity 'super-shedders' driving environmental contamination."
Ancylostoma species, a genus of hookworms, were also common, occurring in 13.8% of the animals. Some species of these parasitic worms can infect people, usually by penetrating the skin, although some can also infect the human intestine.
The third most prevalent type of parasite was coccidia, single-celled protozoa that infect the intestinal tract. In total, about one in five cats were infected with multiple parasites at the same time.
Analysis of the blood samples revealed past exposure to Toxoplasma gondii, meaning some cats had previously been infected but were not necessarily actively shedding the parasite.
Protecting Public Health
Because of the potential threat to public health, the study authors recommend combining disease tracking and parasite treatments, where possible, into TNR programs throughout New York City.
I like how all the airline companies made checking bags more expensive and now while youre waiting for the plane all they do is beg you to volunteer to check your carryon bag for free
I miss when ads were a single click and then they’re gone. Now every ad has a minimum of three phases where you watch a video, exit the still frame of fake gameplay, and then exit the app download. That doesn’t even touch on the ones that forcibly take you to another app after opening a tab in safari without you ever touching the screen.
I hate advertising. I hate that you can’t do anything without companies jumping down your throat with mostly bullshit ads. I hate that billboards exist. I hate that every company unanimously decided to make their ads longer and longer. I hate that ad blockers try to charge you money and there are in app purchases to remove ads. I hate that my attention has become commodified. I hate that there’s nothing I can do about it.
IDK I think if cis men are being told that being fat will lower their testosterone and make them Insufficiently Masculine, and cis women are being told that being fat will raise their testosterone and make them Excessively Masculine, and fat trans people are being denied the right to medically transition if they're fat, and thin trans people are warned against HRT because it will make them fat (and this is said about both testosterone and estrogen HRT), and androgynous-presenting people are told that only thin people count as androgynous...
Then maybe...
Maybe...
Maybe the weight loss industry is just using Gender to enforce fatphobia.

The irony of this new breed of self-righteous AI hunters on AO3 is that they're all just copy and pasting peoples fics into AI detectors, which are all operated by AI and therefore THEY are feeding people's work into the algorithm without their consent and in some cases no doubt circumventing the locks people put on to avoid getting scraped...
Don't copy and paste anyone's AO3 work into third party websites, you're not the good guys in this situation?

It bothers me so much that the healthcare system relies so much on the patient's ability to advocate for themselves, organize their history, and be so persistent against every medical “professional” who says there’s nothing wrong/they can do. But so many struggle with fatigue, brain fog, and face such ingrained systemic barriers, that the people who need and deserve help and support can’t access it.
I saw something recently that resonated with me: “Access shouldn't depend on who has the energy to fight for it.” And I’ve never agreed with anything more.
When I was 16, I went to the doctor for widespread, full body pain. My doctor took one look at me and dismissed my medical concerns as a purely hormonal issue. According to her, my natural, unshaven legs were "abnormally hairy" for a girl my age. She ignored everything I had to say and ignored me to a gynecologist.
Just hours later, I was hospitalized for my pain, which was now accompanied by a fever and a heart rate of 160 BPM. I was confused and disoriented, and every blood test pointed towards high levels of inflammation. The doctors, in their report, attributed my symptoms to sepsis.
That wasn't my first time experiencing transphobia in American healthcare hell, but it is by far the most obvious example. My doctor didn't care that I was in pain. She only cared that I, a nonbinary teenager with an F on their birth certificate, didn't meet her expectations of femininity.
This is why it pisses me off when people tell me I'm not really trans, or that I don't experience transphobia as a nonbinary person. I could have fucking died that day, purely because my doctor couldn't see past my nonbinary identity and gender expression.
