Some sketches based on an actual interaction I had with a teacher except it's the Golden trio.

Harry: He's out to get me!

Hermione: Harry, he treats everyone like that.

Ron: Yeah! He's a total git.

Harry: No, it's different. I saw him in London when I went with the Dursleys. Even after getting better at Potions, you know what he told me? "You'd make a great teacher."

Hermione: First of all... Why was Snape in London? Second, what's wrong with being a teacher?

Harry: But— He KNOWS how good I am at Defence Against the Dark Arts! Why didn't he say I could be an auror instead?!

Keep making my comments into posts because I can. Basically, a lovely Marauders stan (and not a victimblamer) wrote in my comments that Snape wasn't sexually assaulted because "he commited hate crimes against Muggleborns and it's heavily implied he SAed Mary". For some reason, the comment got deleted after I posted the answer:((( But that turned out a good enough piece on that tortured Muggleborns/hexed everyone with Levicorpus/assaulted Mary bullshit, so here it is.

First of all, it's never ever implied Snape hexed anyone, except for possibly James (even that is questionable, since "James didn’t take Snape on dates with her and jinx him in front of her" clearly implies Potter's initiative, but whatever). The worst things Lily accuses him of when giving arguments against their friendship is using the Mudblood word and planning to join the DEs, not hexing Muggleborns or anyone at all. She also confronts Severus about Mulcibier's actions – not about anything Snape did himself (according to her info, he wasn't even present! why would she ask "do you know what had happened", if Mary would've told her he was there!). The Marauders absolutely never say Snape hexed anyone – Lupin and Black try to exuse their actions as hard as they can, but the only related thing they bring up in Snape "liking" Dark Magic – not him bullying anyone, or his supposed anti-Muggleborn sentiment, or him using that same spell etc. Moreover, when Harry brings up the fact that James used Lvc on Snape in HBP, Lupin says "he wasn't the only one", not connecting Snape with the spell in any way, even though they are right there together in the sentence – but Lupin doesn't know that Snape invented Lvc, nor does he ever assign its use to Snape.

Other people who intentionally used Lvc, but for other reasons then James and drunk DEs, are Harry – to stop Amortentia!Ron; attempted in a duel against Draco; attempted at Snape after killing Dumbledore; and Hermione – for Harry to pick up Hufflepuffs cup. So this spell CAN be used not to "torture Muggles" – Voldemort himself calls what DEs did Muggle torture, this is how even fucking Voldemort classifies it – or expose your victim's body and threaten to take off their underwear.

Literally nothing implies Mary was sexually assaulted. The only thing we know for sure is that it couldn't be Levicorpus – because James used it, and "James hated Dark Magic", "they don't use Dark Magic though"; plus no-one hints anywhere in the books that Lvc is Dark. Lily's main argument why it had been bad and unfunny at all was "but it's Dark Magic" – not that Mary was violated and hurt (especially since Mulcibier "tried to do something", and not "did", so it's very possible he failed at least partly. I mean he was probably a bullying piece of shit and maybe even used Lvc, just on different occasions, but you people take that extremely vague statement of Lily and invent wild shit like that Mary was tortured and SAed or whatever, while ignoring the person who we actually see being violated in great detail). There is absolutely no sexual implication there anywhere, Lily would consider any kind of Dark Magic creepy! Justifying bullying was Student!Lupin kind of shitty behaviour, not James and Sirius – and considering Snape wasn't there according to Lily, maybe I'd even cut Snape slack more than Remus.

But even IF Mary was SAed and Snape didn't care – what James did would still be sexual aggression and bullying and disgusting! James doesn't get a pass on violating bodily rights of people with bad morals! Like, I don't think that anyone is entitled to forcibly undress Lupin because he was an enabler, this is just justifying cruelty and consent violation. No one is even entitled to undress James Potter, because sexual violence is not a punishment, and a person who commits it even to the biggest criminal is dangerous for society overall. Again, the only people we directly and openly see doing what James did were drunk DEs, and everyone was horrified, and it was classified as muggle torture by the narrative. This is what we see. In the books. Directly.

Also, a well known Snape's friend Mulcibier, whom Sirius doesn't remember being affiliated with Snape, and who, just as any other slytherin, is nowhere around during SWM – not only to help against James, but to discuss the important OWLs exam on a subject Snape greatly cared about, like the Marauders did together, and Lily did with her friends. Yeah, all those Snape's verrry close friends, and surely not just people he lived with.

And yes, undressing a person in public without their consent, especially your long term victim, especially if they are forcibly physically restrained during the episode, is sexual assault, regardless of victim's morals.

One of the most fascinating things about Snape is that Dumbledore trusted him—only him—to learn that Harry must die.

He didn't tell McGonagall or Hagrid, "Hey, the student we raised for seven years must die." He didn't tell Kingsley, "Hey, the youngest auror, the famous James and Lily's son, must die." He didn't tell Ron or Hermione, "Hey, your friend must die."

But he did tell Snape, "Hey, Lily's son, who you gave everything to protect, must die, regardless of what Lily thinks of it."

He knew how much Snape cared for Lily's memory. He knew that his whole deal with Snape was about protecting Harry. He knew that Snape's loyalty was dependent on the validation he could give, which is why he defended him all these years against every Order member's valid accusations. He knew how shaky Snape's past was compared to other Order members.

He knew how volatile Snape could be when offended, which is why he never praised James, Sirius, or Remus in front of him.

And yet, he told Snape the last thing Snape ever wanted to hear. Almost like Dumbledore anticipated that Snape was the only one mentally strong enough to see the greater good over personal feelings. As if Dumbledore was confident that Snape wouldn't betray him even after losing the purpose of his life—something he wasn't confident about with others, apparently.

And Snape did carry the plan out. He didn't back away once Dumbledore's treachery of Lily's memory was revealed. He kept his promise to protect his students by regularly checking on Neville, Luna, and Ginny. Most of all, he even nearly blew away his cover to save Remus, his sworn enemy. And in the end, he was even willing to give up his privacy—his deepest memories—just to make Harry go along with the plan.

All while he had no reason to keep honoring Dumbledore's deal—but he still kept honoring it anyway, as a final favor to the world he failed by being a Death Eater in the first place.

Makes me wonder, could McGonagall, Ron, Hermione, Moody, Slughorn, Flitwick, or really anyone not named Neville have found the strength to choose the world over principles? Could McGonagall have found the strength to tell her own student that he needed to die?

Could Ron and Hermione, who said, "If you want to kill Harry, you'll have to kill us too," have willingly watched Harry walk to death? Could Hagrid? We know Sirius and James couldn't; they went against Dumbledore's judgement and picked their own secret keeper based on the power of friendship—and paid the price. Clearly, not everyone in the Order was built to obey Dumbledore's orders without principles.

Perhaps Dumbledore, who very clearly wanted Snape's genuine redemption beyond Lily, knew about Snape's struggles to pick between saving people and keeping up his cover.

We know that Snape was willing to save his enemies. He didn't sell out Sirius' location, he didn't retaliate against Sirius or Remus lethally, and he kept Remus healthy.

And once Snape proved to him that he now truly cared about people and was willing to make personal compromises (such as tolerating his enemies) for the greater good, Dumbledore was sure he could trust Snape.

That trust was even more validated when he lamented his inability to save people to keep his cover. For once, Dumbledore finally had proof that Snape grew to be a man who indeed cared for people—and understood utilitarianism enough to accept the dilemma and trauma.

As such, Dumbledore was finally confident that he could trust Snape to carry out a decision, a mission that'd invalidate his whole life's purpose. Something he couldn't expect from Harry's friends, professors, or the Order, none of whom clearly had to live with sacrificing their morality and principles or the inability to blow up their cover while people were murdered by Death Eaters.

This is one of the most beautiful stories of two war-torn men growing to trust each other over shared missions, tasks, and time. Snape was very much Dumbledore's man.

It's also kinda validating for my pro-Snape heart that while he may not have held a moral ground over the Order members in the issue of avoiding racism, he did hold a moral ground high enough to be Dumbledore's trustee when it came to utilitarianism.

Ron Weasley, in peak panic mode, thinks, "Oh no, Harry’s not writing back—he might be dying!" And instead of doing the logical thing like telling his parents his best friend might have been kidnapped or whatever, he goes straight to his teenage brothers.

Fred and George, without missing a beat, are like, "Say no more, little bro, we’re on it." Their immediate solution? Stealing their dad’s illegal enchanted flying car because obviously that’s the next best way to cross England and check why Harry isn’t answering letters. Idea: questionable. Execution: flawless. Result: property damage.

Young Hermione repeatedly inflicting violence on Snape is such a funny concept to me lmaoo. She set him on fire in book 1, stole from him in book 2, and tried to disarm him (albeit with Harry and Ron) in book 3. Wish this had continued in the later books too

What surprises me is that people get scandalized because Snape reacts by laughing at her in the 4th book, because honestly if some fucking brat did that to me, she would never set foot in that damn school again. That man deserves to be named a saint, his level of patience is beyond everything.

The situation this anon is sooo outraged about goes like that: Harry made an incorrect potion (acknowleged fact by Harry himself, reason – didn't pay attention and forgot to add an ingredient, not a struggle to understand something or perform an action correctly per se). Snape pointing that out during a year worse for HIM then for Harry, because HE has to deal with ressurected Voldemort regularly, is so unimaginably evil, sinse Goyle had... a possibly worse potion? Yes, Snape said out loud that Harry's potion was "worthless" since he forgot to add the hellebore, vanished it and gave him a zero for the lesson, but

1) noone fucking says he gave Goyle a good grade, or didn't talk to him about his potion? Not Harry nor Hermione know Goyle's grades in any way, and Snape is his head of house, who has direct contact with his students and their parents all the time. The fact that Goyle's potion wasn't vanished doesn't mean Goyle receives a top grade.

2) Later in OOTP Harry did A BETTER JOB because of this previous instance.

"Determined not to give Snape an excuse to fail him this lesson, Harry read and reread every line of the instructions on the blackboard at least three times before acting on them. His Strengthening Solution was not precisely the clear turquoise shade of Hermione’s but it was at least blue rather than pink, like Neville’s, and he delivered a flask of it to Snape’s desk at the end of the lesson with a feeling of mingled defiance and relief."

What Snape did literally worked – Harry focused, and did better. Getting a bad grade for a bad potion isn't the end of the world. It doesn't even influence his final grade for the year, because those are based solely on exams.

3) If we go with "poor boy has the worst year of his life🥺🥺🥺", does that apply only to Harry? Does only he of all the children studying there have personal circumstances ? Goyle's father got into Voldemort's service this year, how tf do you know he doesn't have a tough year? Cause he's not the main character?

4) Also, its not like Snape himself, recently getting back into his second, mortally dangerous, Harry Potter related job, deserves a shred of empathy from that person in my asks😔😔 He should spend every second of his life considering what Harry thinks and wants, it's not like he has any other possible conserns, such as "how to not let Potter die".

5) Harry himself thinks

"His potion had been no worse than Ron’s, which was now giving off a foul odor of bad eggs, or Neville’s, which had achieved the consistency of just-mixed cement and which Neville was now having to gouge out of his cauldron, yet it was he, Harry, who would be receiving zero marks for the day’s work. He stuffed his wand back into his bag and slumped down onto his seat, watching everyone else march up to Snape’s desk with filled and corked flagons."

Funny how Hermione doesn't outloud mention Ron or Neville, her friends, how Harry doesn't notice Goyle getting into any major messes. Almost as if both of them exaggerate🤡

6) Is Snape more nitpicky towards Harry personally, compared to other students? Yeah. That's called a trauma response, a fairly mild one at that. At worst, Sev singled Harry out more then others. Still for an (unattentive and wasteful of ingredients) mistake, in a way that bettered his later results, and while going through the level of hell Harry doesnt have to go through right now.

But I suggest crucifying Severus Snape for being a humane character with emotions who doesn't fit into your unrealistic ideas about perfect teachers.

That lovely moment after Harry snooped in Snape’s pensieve. I can just picture Harry sitting little Al down and telling him of the great times he had with Snape. “And there was this one time that Snape shook me violently then threw things at my face and screamed- I had just seen one of the most shattering moments of my life, seeing my parents in a horrible way. Snape was really sympathetic and acted like a real adult about it.” Snape is such a lovely person- I don’t know why Lily went for James when there was Snape around. Sure, he was a racist blood-purist Deatheater jerkface who was ugly and cruel and petty, but James picked on Snape, so that makes Snape super great, and James super evil for being cocky at the age of 15. :P

Too sad the commentary is stupid in its interpretation. Like, it’s literally said that Harry didn’t give a damn to what Snape did because “what made him feel s horrified and sad was that he knew exactly how it felt like to be humiliated surrounded by a circle of onlookers”, he didn’t give a damn because he realized his father was the type who could have bullied people like Harry.

The strength of the next scenes is that Harry identifies not with his father, a carbon copy of Harry, but with Snape, the guy he hates the most. It’s also when Harry confronts Sirius and Lupin, by saying that being 15 is by no way an excuse (Harry is 15 himself) and that Lupin did nothing while he was a prefect. You missed those information I think.

Also Snape wasn’t a Purist. He might have been at one time, but then he completely stopped and fought Voldemort, the incarnation of Purist ideology. He joined the Death Eaters for 2 years and spent half of his life (17 years) in redemption, trying to make things right again. Oh, I don’t make me explain the concept of being angry when you see one of your most traumatic moments of your life again, fearing your tormentor’s son took pleasure in it and will tell everybody.

I have lots of questions regarding the aftermath of Harry’s spying on Snape’s Worst Memory.

Did Snape perhaps worry that Harry would tell everyone? Is that why he ignores Harry completely, testing the waters and seeing if Harry is enjoying himself?

Why hasn’t Harry ever thought of telling his friends, or anyone really, about the memory of a professor he came to hate harder and harder?

Why did Snape seem to have broken Harry’s phial—if it wasn’t just Harry’s cloak swishing it away—if he ever feared Harry would divulge the memory?

Did Snape ever realize Harry hadn’t liked what he saw—that indeed he was "more like his mother" ie he hated bullying no matter who did it? Did he think Harry wasn’t spreading the story because it was a selfish attempt to preserve the illusion that his father was a perfect hero and telling it would only make Harry remember more?

Did Dumbledore have to tell Snape Harry wouldn’t ever tell the story and if he did, he would come to scold Harry?

Why wasn’t it an occasion to make the characters connect more—why did it have to end like it did, without Harry trying to reconcile? Is Harry colder than we think?

If Snape's Worst Memory was Muggle

'All right, Snivellus?' said James loudly.

Snape reacted so fast it was as though he had been expecting an attack: dropping his bag, he fisted his hands and drew them up, when James shouted, ‘Get him!' (Expelliarmus)

Snape dived for his bag, but James and Sirius were already on him. James swept his feet under Snape’s; Snape fell with a hard thud. (Impedimenta) Sirius let out a bark of laughter.

Students all around had turned to watch. Some of them had got to their feet and were edging nearer. Some looked apprehensive, others entertained.

Snape laid panting on the ground where James and Sirius stood over him. James glanced over his shoulder at the girls at the water's edge as he went. Wormtail was on his feet now, watching hungrily, edging around Lupin to get a clearer view.

'How'd the exam go, Snivelly?' said James.

'I was watching him, his nose was touching the paper,' said Sirius viciously. 'There'll be great grease marks all over it, they won't be able to read a word.'

Several people watching laughed; Snape was clearly unpopular. Wormtail sniggered shrilly. Snape was trying to get up, but James thrust him back to the ground with his foot.

'You--wait,' he panted, staring up at James with an expression of purest loathing, 'you-- wait!'

'Wait for what?' said Sirius coolly. 'What're you going to do, Snivelly, wipe your nose on us?'

Snape let out a stream of mixed swear words and threats.

'Wash out your mouth,' said James coldly, then pulled his bag round. He probed deep, finally, he removed a bottle of water and a small container of travel liquid soap. He mixed the two and shook it hard, then forced it down Snape’s throat. (Scourgify)

Pink soap bubbles streamed from Snape's mouth; the froth was covering his lips, making him gag, choking him--'

'Leave him ALONE!'

James and Sirius looked round. James's free hand immediately jumped to his hair.

It was one of the girls from the lake edge. She had thick, dark red hair that fell to her shoulders, and startlingly green almond-shaped eyes--Harry's eyes.

Harry's mother.

'All right, Evans?' said James, and the tone of his voice was suddenly pleasant, deeper, more mature.

'Leave him alone,' Lily repeated. She was looking at James with every sign of great dislike. 'What's he done to you?'

'Well,' said James, appearing to deliberate the point, 'it's more the fact that he exists, if you know what I mean ...'

Many of the surrounding students laughed, Sirius and Wormtail included, but Lupin, still apparently intent on his book, didn't, and nor did Lily.

'You think you're funny,' she said coldly. 'But you're just an arrogant, bullying toerag, Potter. Leave him alone.'

'I will if you go out with me, Evans,' said James quickly. 'Go on ... go out with me and I'll never lay a hand on old Snivelly again.'

Behind him, Snape was beginning to inch towards his school bag, spitting out soapsuds as he crawled.

'I wouldn't go out with you if it was a choice between you and a giant squid,' said Lily.

'Bad luck, Prongs,' said Sirius briskly, and turned back to Snape. 'OI!'

But too late; Snape had pulled out a small penknife from his bag, directed it at James and threw it; a gash appeared on the side of James's face, spattering his robes with blood. (Sectumsempra)

James whirled. Sirius had pounced on Snape and restrained him to the floor, (Levicorpus) Snape fought in vain as Sirius forced his robes above his waist; to reveal skinny, pallid legs and a pair of greying underpants.

Many people in the small crowd cheered; Sirius, James and Wormtail roared with laughter.

Lily, whose furious expression had twitched for an instant as though she was going to smile, said, ‘Let him up!'

‘Fine!’ James nodded to Sirius, who hesitated but got off Snape. Snape disentangled himself from his robes and quickly got to his feet, fist curled tightly, but Sirius shoved him hard which brought Snape down. ('Petrificus Totalus!)

'LEAVE HIM ALONE!' Lily shouted. She had her fists out now, ready to fight him. James and Sirius eyed her carefully.

'Ah, Evans, don't make me hurt you,' said James sincerely.

Me and the two or three other people who used to talk nonstop about them years ago… we’re celebrating

Out of all the plot parallels from Harry Potter the series, one of the ones that are, in my opinion, most fascinating yet constantly overlooked is the parallel between Lily J. Potter and Ronald “Ron” B. Weasley.

Even when disregarding the deeper subjects, Lily and Ron both have red hair and bright eyes (bright green and bright blue, respectively), they are both sorted in Griffindor and are both prefects.

If these above are none other than plain “consequences”, their real (since Ron had a hand-me-down one)wands are made of the same wood and the same core. Willow wood and unicorn hair. One thing special about their wands is that according to the wand maker Ollivander, it was a rather uncommon wand wood.

“Willow is an uncommon wand wood with healing power, and I have noted that the ideal owner for a willow wand often has some (usually unwarranted) insecurity, however well they may try and hide it.”

“…my willow wands have consistently selected those of greatest potential, rather than those who feel they have little to learn. It has always been a proverb in my family that he who has furthest to travel will go fastest with willow.”

If I remembered correctly, Lily and Ron are the only two who are noted to have willow wand in the books. This type of wand, as written by Ollivander himself, tends to choose owners with (unwarranted) insecurities and greatest potential. Note how these descriptions match both Lily and Ron perfectly, which makes the character parallel more understandable.

Lily, a muggle-born witch, though talented, would certainly have some insecurities when she first went into the wizarding world. These insecurities will be proven to be unwarranted because, of course, she’s an amazing witch no matter if she’s a muggle-born or not. She also has great potential, which I believe I don’t need to really list out evidence for. Just, the witch who impressed Slughorn, who was an experienced Potions Professor, who defied Voldemort three times (as said in the prophecy) when she’s around twenty. That’s ability, that’s potential.

Meanwhile, Ron is always bothered by his insecurities. All the readers can understand that. I honestly do not know if I should consider his insecurities “unwarranted” because, damn, the boy has his reasons, which I’m too pained to mention here. I tend to think that they are unwarranted, not because I think that he’s dramatic or overreacting, but because Ron is bloody amazing and people around him know that (whether they expressed it or not.) He just sees too little of himself (no my poor boy why). And he’s got potentials. And in my opinions, greatest potentials out of all the characters in HP, even if he’s treated poorly as a character. He beat McGonagall at chess when he’s twelve. He cast a difficult, non-verbal spell using someone else’s wand, and it was absolutely impressing even if the broken wand backfired. He fought with death-eaters when he’s like fifteen. He broke a silencing spell cast by freaking Voldemort. And there’re many, many other things that happened in the books that I’m not going to list out not because they’re less impressing, but that there’re way too much.

Now back to the point. Parallel.

When talking about the parallel between Lily and Ron, the one thing that I consider the most important was their deep, close connection with the protagonist of the book, Harry Potter.

Lily is Harry Potter’s mother, the one who died to for him. Her love for her child was so strong that it created an invisible yet unbreakable amour for him, protecting him from Voldemort long after she’s gone. Her kindness, bravey, and her love for him is what kept him alive.

Ron, on the other side, has no blood relation with Harry whatsoever. But he is undoubtedly the best friend Harry could have. He is what Harry would miss the most. Yes, they bickered and fought and Ron left him at times, but he would always return. He gives Harry his love, he takes care of him, he defends him, he makes him part of his family, he is just there for Harry. He would die for Harry, even when they were just some little first-years. What Ron does is what Lily would do.

Lily stood in between Harry and the most dangerous dark wizard in the world, one that would murder someone without a moment’s hesitation. She asked him to take her instead. Ron stood on a broken leg in between Harry and a (allegedly) cold-blooded murderer who killed thirteen people with one single spell. He told him that if he wanted Harry dead, he must kill him first.

Two brave red-heads, two murderers, two wands, and one boy to protect.

Lily is Harry’s family, Lily loves Harry so selflessly so that he could live. Ron is who shows Harry what is it like to have a family, to have someone to love you so selflessly that they would sacrifice themselves for you.

So, I was building a family tree

Because of my story “Home”.

While doing so, I ended up just adding everyone’s birth dates and, turns out the Weasleys have consistently had two years between the birth of each kid - which means they waited until the kid was over 12 months to try again or… I don’t know -, except in two situations: Chalie and Percy were born four years apart, and Ron and Ginny were born with literal 17 months between them. 

Ron was eight months old when Molly got pregnant with Ginny. 

Their parents wanted a girl so much that they didn’t even wait for him to turn one. 

Ron got even less attention from his parents than any of his brothers, not only because he had other five brothers - kids between 2 and 10 years of age - but also another baby when he was literally under two, and the baby was the girl their parents had been trying to have probably since the birth of either their first or second kid. 

I mean… Dude, someone needs to hug that kid and give him full attention for at least two hours every day. 

He doesn’t need crazy adventures, he needs a therapist!

Not only that, but the brothers closest to him in age are twins, which by default makes them a team and much more willing to play with each other than with Ron (apart from teasing and pranking him).
