Hi, I'm Em! I'm a self-appointed stancest fandom archivist trying to preserve the robust and fascinating history of this corner of the fandom. I'm also working my way through bluesky and the hellscape that is twitter, but I'm less familiar with those sites.
I write fics every now then on here and AO3, and I also have them linked in my writing tag (since some are Tumblr-exclusive). My writing tag also has more info on projects I'm working on and sneak peeks, so check that out if you're interested.
I reblog/archive a TON of stancest art and fics, so feel free to stick around if that's your jam. Below the cut, I've included tags I commonly use for archival purposes—not all of them bc that would take forever, but the most common ones—as well as links for easy navigation. I also tag creators, so those should be searchable too.
As it says on the tin, this blog contains incest (obviously), NSFW, and other mature themes, so adults only please.
I also trigger-tag noncon, dubcon, and death with "tw: [name of trigger]". Again, the above are only my most commonly used tags, but I do have more. Please lmk if there's anything else I tag that you'd like linked here. Muah <3
i just think it's so Stan-coded to think of childhood innocence and prioritize just one person to start over with. to treat love as a nuisance, a spiralling riddle and thus kept distant.
if Ford could just see it from his perspective, if he was truly there with Stan during those decades dedicated to getting him back, he would be able to Get It. get it and understand why that boat meant the entire universe to his soulmate, his true other half.
Stan not understanding herself and being so bitterly jealous of the way her sister gets to act/be. feeling suffocated by the standards put on Stan bc of her assumed gender. never measuring up to her sister no matter how hard she tries, no matter how manly she is. probably some misogyny there too bc how is a girl surpassing a man? isn't it a man's job to be smart, strong, and providing security (via money, job, etc)? what is Stan if she isn't any of that but her twin sister is?
eventually the jealousy builds up to dangerous levels. Stan doesn't want to hate Ford but with everything happening it's hard not to. how come she gets to go to college? how come she gets to make the decision that their dream of sailing is over? without even a word of discussion? how comes she gets to go off and be an amazing successful woman while Stan is stuck being the worse man on the planet?
maybe there's a little more purpose in knocking the table with Ford's science project. maybe Stan leaves voluntarily before Ford gets rejected and everyone just assumes Stan did it on purpose bc 'he' ran away. the evidence is still there just no explanation no half assed answer. nothing but a gapping hole where Stan used to be.
Ford forces herself to accept her 'brother' is this horrible man, jealous of women and unable to handle others success. sure, there's a nagging thought that something else must have spurred her 'brother' on. 'he'd' been acting strange and stand-off ish for years. flip flopping between happy and angry. more hormonal than any girl Ford's ever met. but reminiscing on her twin doesn't do her any good.
she hunkers down and graduates early with 12 phds. "one for each finger!" the ghost of her best friend chirps, young and innocent, a time before they were pitted against each other. she figures out in college that she's exclusively attracted to women. Fiddleford and Ford have a couple flings, nothing serious since Fidds is determined to marry a man once she graduates (religious expectations etc). but Ford also knows that loving women as one herself is dangerous, adds yet another layer of freak to her already tall stack.
is she really a lesbian if she always found her twin 'brother' attractive? if she jerked off to the idea of them in carnal embrace? is she gay if she still has fantasies of Stan scooping her up and holding her in 'his' large arms?
it all gets shoved aside when Ford gets her grant to study anomalies in Gravity Falls. the little town is wonderful, the woods full of everything she needs. talking to the town's people is awkward and uncomfortable since she's not great with socialization (that had been Stan's job) but she's carving a place for herself with her own hands. her own hard work. blood sweat and tears going into her research. she's getting frustrated by the wall she's hitting but before she can find the cave with Bill's summoning instructions on it, she gets a call.
at first Ford thinks it will be like all the others. the same prank caller trying to rattle her by not speaking. but this time there's noise. there's gasping desperate sobs. her 'brother' croaks through the line that 'he' doesn't want to be buried a man, begging her to not let them put 'him' in the ground wrong.
of course Ford is caught off guard and rightfully confused/worried/upset. she tries getting Stan to explain what 'he' just said, explain why 'he' did what 'he' must have to her project, but 'he' hangs up once she starts raising her voice. she slams the phone down with a torrent of emotions growing heavy in her stomach.
why did it sound like her 'brother' was begging not to die? was 'his' voice slurred and wet or was that Ford's panicked mind making up details? she's never heard her 'brother' cry before. she never wants to again.
days go by. her phone remains silent. the more time passes the more Ford gets enraged. this must have been a trick to get her to obsess over Stan again, put her back in her teenage self's shoes. when the phone rings she leaps across the desk to hiss into it, nearly giving her Ma a heart attack.
Ford makes small talk, embarrassed she let her emotions get the better of her, but also can't help asking Ma if she's heard from Stan. Ma is silent. she knows something but it's obvious she's not sure if she should share it. eventually she begrudgingly admits to seeing Stan on TV, some commercial for a non-rash giving band-aid. a scam advertisement. further proof that 'he' is a liar, unable to make an honest living for 'himself'.
vindicated by her assessment, Ford resolves to not think about her twin ever again. 'his' true colors are there for everyone to see. except a few weeks later a familiar red diablo pulls up to her house, custom plates hanging on for dear life. and out steps Stan. 'he' no longer looks like her 'brother'.
shaggy mullet and baggy clothes. eyes so sunken in 'he' looks like a ghost. 'he' stands by 'his' car and Ford stays on the porch. neither of them willing to bridge the gap. in a voice rough and deep and shockingly gravelly, Stan asks for her help.
something about the way 'he' says it gets Ford to take it seriously. honestly it looks like a strong wind would knock Stan over. and there's a undercurrent of sick glee. Stan, the 'man' who couldn't let 'his' more successful sister thrive, is here asking her to provide, asking her to take care of 'him'.
Ford agrees, if only to put her twin in 'his' place once and for all. this of course will go completely smoothly with no bumps or emotional conflicts at all! :))
Stan calls her Ma, at the end of her rope and ready to give up, to say goodbye. but finds out that Ford asked about her. that Ford wants to know if she's okay.
it's such a slim glimmer of hope, but it's something. why not chase it? it's not like she has anything left to do in this suffocating life. a drastic change might be what she needs to feel alive again. to feel like a person and not some hollow doll playing pretend.
so she asks for Ford's address. she makes up some sappy excuse of reuniting to apologize to convince Ma to fork it over. she pointedly ignores her Ma using the wrong name, the wrong pronouns. she memorizes Ford's address and sets of.
it takes about a week to get to Gravity Falls, Oregon. it's practically the boonies. not the kind of place a renowned scientist should live. maybe Ford is hiding from paparazzi and crazy fans. Stan almost feels bad intruding on her sister's slice of peace and quiet.
but if she doesn't do this, do something, she won't last the rest of the year. she can feel the cloud of darkness looming over her like a hungry beast. waiting for her to stumble and not get back up.
Stan slams her car door shut and lifts her heavy head to make eye contact with her twin for the first time in nearly ten years. time has been kind to Ford. she's filled out her skinny nerdy frame. it even looks like she might have built some muscle under her ridiculous looking trench coat (what is she, a flasher?).
the request tumbles out of Stan's mouth, a cat bringing their owner a dead mouse, a broken Hail Mary, "help me".
Stan is the only person that calls Fordbella Ford. the only person who treats her the same as he would a boy. Stan doesn't care that his sister isn't very girly, that she likes bugs and books and space. he just likes hanging out on the beach and exchanging crazy stories and making her laugh. he holds Ford's hand when she's scared. he fights off her bullies with bared teeth and swinging fists. he never treats her like some kind of fated rising star, the marvelous genius girl from a small town, a freak.
he crawls into her bunk when she has nightmares even though he's secretly afraid of heights. Ford only knows because she can feel the way he trembles under her thin sheet, his strong arms wrapped around her. she feels guilty every night she calls him up.
sometimes she doesn't even have bad dreams. sometimes she just wants an excuse to hold Stan. to provide what little protection she can. to give back the endless sea of love he pours over her at any given moment.
she makes a silent promise to herself, young and naive, that she will grow up big and strong so she can take care of her brother the same way he's been taking care of her.
Ford has no idea how quickly that promise will go up in flames. how horribly gut wrenching it will be to find that bag of toffee peanuts and discover the truth behind her twin's actions.
it was never out of love or duty. it was always about a man controlling and posturing his dominance over a woman. Stan couldn't stand to see Ford succeed so he had to sabotage her, had to drag her back down to his level. and he fled because he couldn't take the consequences of his actions, couldn't stomach the utter betrayal left in his wake.
none of it matters now. Ford will make her own life what it should be, mold herself into that promised woman. not for her brother but for herself.
FINALLY FINISHED a Gravity Falls Stan twins-centered/slightly stancest if you squint (meaning i went into this with the full intention of making it gay as fuck) amv set to Part 1: Broken Bride by Ludo which is now a song I could go my whole life without ever hearing again.
it looks gorgeous on my computer so if tumblr fucks it a new asshole that’s on it. i’m still banned from youtube for my devious ways.

Stan inhales sharply as the scream of his alarm startles him to wakefulness at three forty-five in the morning. It shrills once—twice—three times before Stan is cognizant enough to sit up, reach over, and jab the off button.

When the world does not end, Stan sits down on the unbroken step of the back porch and pulls a cigar case out from the inner pocket of his tattered suit coat. There is only one cigar left. Stan smiles at the sight, though the expression is weary and does not reach his shadowed eyes.
It had been many years ago that Stanley was first taught that not everyone was created equally- despite being a young child he learnt that some were born luckier than others- and it was on that day that he began to question not how he saw himself, but how others saw him.
After all, Filbrick had made it all too clear that he would rather have a no son than a defective one…
