The lights in the Forgotten Knight were never particularly bright, and that was just the way J'tiqa liked it. He stared down at the dim amber at the bottom of his mug, its taste like watered down piss, if he was being honest. It was the exact opposite of the illegal moonshine he used to drink in the military.

He didn't mind so much, though; he wasn't here for the drinks.

Ishgard was finally safe after a thousand years of war. Ser Aymeric had taken over to form a new, democratic government, not with himself at the head, but as an interim ruler. The dragons were becoming friendly with the townsfolk, although there was still some bad blood between them. Even Estinien had been able to be saved from Nidhogg's thrall. Things were going well for Coerthas.

But it was a hollow victory for J'tiqa. This wasn't his home; this wasn't his war. He was here by chance, as a favor from a friend. A friend who was no longer with them.

By his side, Eliane sat, swirling around a glass of wine that she was just as uninterested in as he was in his own drink. She had gained -- and lost -- much more than he had. This was her home, after all. And Haurchefant was her husband, the father of her child. Where J'tiqa was removed from the situation, Eliane was fully embroiled in it.

"This was a bust," J'tiqa determined, draining the last of his ale and thunking his mug back down on the bar. "You wanna get out of here?"

10. Do they keep things for sentimental reasons?

not as a general rule! j'tiqa is a wanderer at heart, and he tends to travel lightly. i haven't really thought about this much, but if he does have anything, it's probably something small, like a piece of jewelry. i can definitely see him carrying a piece of jewelry of his mother's with him, but i don't think he'd be able to have something like that, considering his story. not until stb, anyway.

20. Are they good at reading people?

not really, at least not at first. j'tiqa starts his journey very self-centered, not really caring what other people think of him and all that. he does get better with time, but i would assume his ability to read what people want from him would not grow unless he specifically worked on that aspect of himself.

After living his whole life in Gyr Abania, J'tiqa was used to the sun relentlessly beating down on his head and shoulders. The bright sun of Thanalan reminded him somewhat of home, and he didn't tire easily even after hours in it. He knew when he needed rest, water, and shade.

He wasn't the only one working here, though. Even as he hauled another load of bricks out toward those who were actually building the bridge that had been damaged in the Calamity, he spotted a woman in the same position as he, only much more tired.

He made his delivery of the stone bricks as ordered, and then he paused to grab a bottle of chilled water from the store they had kept for the workers.

The woman was petite, but he could see that she had strength. She was simply working too hard under the harsh sun, and the sweat was all but dripping down her chin. She needed the water, or she would collapse.

J'tiqa waited until she delivered her bricks, and then called out to her with a simple, "Hey." When she turned to look at him, he tossed her the water bottle. "Come sit here in the shade for a minute."

man sometimes i just get overwhelmed by how amazing you guys are. like, seriously. there are a bunch of you who have taken a character and made them your own through your own takes and headcanons, and there are those of you who have created an entire new person out of nothing. those are both things to celebrate and to be proud of. you are all amazing!!!

They gave Wilred a proper Ala Mhigan burial.

There was little time for such things, with all the conspiracies and bad blood going around. Too many secrets being held, too many loose bricks in the walls of explanations meant to stop them. Ilberd had tried to reassure them, but even that was a barrier to the truth.

Gundobald led the procession, as was his right. J'tiqa and Hikari helped to carry the coffin. The body was arranged with its right side facing the city of Ala Mhigo, and then it was time for prayers to Rhalgr to watch over Wilred's soul in the afterlife. They removed their shoes, as was custom.

J'tiqa knew all the burial rituals intimately. He had buried family and friends in the peaks of Gyr Abania before managing to escape that life. And it never ceased to piss him off.

Of course, the funeral was no time to be angry. It was a time of stillness, of remembering a loved one as they were in life. A time to reflect upon their life and their loss, to join with others who loved them and grieve.

But J'tiqa had no such compunctions with anger afterwards.

It was a good thing the walls of the Rising Stones were, in fact, stone, because otherwise he would have put his fist through the wall when they got back. He paced about the place, shaking out his hand, and fumed silently.

He looked at Hikari, going through her own grieving process. "We're going to find out who did this," he told her firmly. "And then we're going to rip them to pieces."

okay instead of just talking about j'tiqa, i think i am ready to start writing him? maybe? anyway like this post for a starter from j'tiqa. if you're a multimuse, you can either specify or just let me pick from your roster. i might come into your dms to plot something with you.

the more i think about j'tiqa's personality and such, the more i wonder if he is actually suited to be a dark knight. i didn't push it before because i felt like it was edgy in a different way than j'tiqa is, but the more i develop him, the more i think it might be the right direction for me. i think he's probably pretty depressed in hw. he was made out to be this hero all throughout arr, doing things no one else could do, etc. i think he didn't really like the attention, but he did like the fact that he could do these things. he wants to protect people. that is his overwhelming personality trait that makes him, as a wol, possible. he isn't always nice about it, but he wants to help people. which means he might have something good (juicy) with fray. anyway, he definitely picks up either ninja or samurai in stb, as a response to zenos beating the shit out of him. i haven't decided which yet. as for shb and ew, i don't know if he switches back to something old or picks up something new, but i like him picking up viper in dt. i think he will probably go paladin at some point, or maybe even bastion? i think his journey is about accepting that he's the good guy and that he can protect the ones he loves (which extends to all of etheirys at some point), and i feel like the flavor of paladin really works with him. but we will have to wait and see what the flavor of bastion turns out to be.
