- Moving onto the farm and being away from her parents for the first time really helps Abigail come into her own. The farmer notices a contentedness in her that hadn't been there before.
- Abigail feels more at peace living out of town. She never realized how disruptive it was having people traipsing in and out of her home every day!
- Because of this peacefulness she feels, she ends up feeling passion about the care and upkeep of the farm. She grows attached to the farm animals, especially the ducks!
- That being said, her adventurous side thrives on the farm. Yoba forbid a slime or other monster show up on the acreage, because she'll kebab it with a sword faster than the farmer can draw their own weapon.
- After a bit more combat practice, she starts going into the mines on occasion. She loves to bring the farmer gifts from her adventures.
- "I found the biggest fire quartz! I want you to have it!"
- She loves the farm and everything it's become, but more than that she loves her farmer. They're who made this life possible, and she's grateful for everything they have together.
Hi :)) it would mean the world to me if you made a short story about shane and farmer discussing how his first therapy session in the city went ✌️😔
Someone To Rely On
The farmer debated waiting for Shane at the bus stop, but then thought better of it. They didn't want to overwhelm him or make him feel embarrassed. So they waited for him to find them, which he did fairly soon after returning from the city.
"Hey," they greeted gently, "How was it?".
They were sitting on the porch of the farmhouse. Shane looked off into the distance. The farmer couldn't tell if he was feeling wistful or disconnected.
"It was fine" he replied.
The farmer frowned.
"You don't have to talk about it, if you don't want to"
Shane turned his head towards them. Their eyes met. There was a glimmer in his eyes that hadn't been there the first time they met.
"There isn't a lot to talk about, really. Dr. Patel's nice. She said she wasn't going to push me too hard on the first session"
The farmer nodded, glad that Shane seemed to have a positive experience with therapy.
"I'm glad to hear that" they said, reaching for him hand. He took it in his larger one and squeezed it gratefully.
"Y'know," he started, his eyes back on the horizon, "Your name came up in the session today".
"Oh yeah? In what context?"
Shane was smiling. Softly, not mockingly. The farmer's heart fluttered.
"She asked if I had someone to rely on. I said it was you, that you're there for me no matter how big of an asshole I am"
"You can be an asshole sometimes" the farmer chuckled. Their hand was still intertwined with Shane's.
Hi! what would it be like if singles ask the farmer for dating? it was bad if the question got weird is that he was using a translator hehe :'3
How the bachelor(ette)s ask the farmer out! Thank you for the request!
I put them below the cut because it's a long one!
Abigail: With her, I absolutely believe she kept dropping hints hoping you'd make the first move. After getting progressively more flirty without any idea on how you felt about her, she just came outright and said "Look, I like you a lot. Would you wanna go out with me sometime?". You had no idea she felt that way. It turns out her "hints" weren't very obvious at all. But you'd liked her for a long time, so of course you agreed. Abigail pretended to be annoyed at first, but she was just so overcome with joy that she couldn't help from being giddy.
Emily: Being Emily, she wanted to ask you out in a less traditional way. She'd been telling you the different uses for gemstones. "In some cultures rubies can be gifted to express love" she had told you. You weren't totally listening, because you were too busy watching her eyes light up when she talked about her interests. So when a few days later she shyly hands you a shimmering ruby, you don't make the connection at first. You thank her for the gift before she reminds you that it's a token of her affection and is trying to ask you out. You grin and happily accept.
Haley: Similar to Abigail, she'll be dropping hints and subtly flirting hoping you'll get a clue and ask her out. After so long of this tactic not working, she decides to turn it up a notch. She goes to some of the classics. "Wow, look how big/strong your hands are!" She'll say, hoping you'll hold her hand. "I think my necklace is twisted, can you fix it?" she'll ask as an excuse to get close to you. Soon enough, you understand what's happening, but you want to take advantage of the opportunity to tease her. One day, she asks you if you think her lipgloss is smudged. "If you want to kiss me, you just have to ask" you tease. Her face gets all red, but she doesn't protest when you lean in to kiss her.
Leah: With some encouragement from Elliott, Leah wanted to make a big, romantic gesture. She set up a picnic in the secret woods, complete with a homemade blackberry pie. She had you meet her there in the early evening so the two of you could enjoy the golden hour together. After a delicious meal, both of you were feeling content. Her head was resting on your shoulder as you watched the light dance off of the pond. "We should do this more often" she said. Your heart fluttered, realizing she was asking to be your girlfriend. It couldn't have been more perfect.
Maru: I'd imagine Maru would be pretty direct. She would come to your farm on a day she knew you weren't going to be too busy. Despite being nervous on the inside, she put on an air of confidence. She knocks on your door, and when you open it to let her in she'll double check that she didn't get you at a bad time. When you assure her you have all the time in the world for her, it makes it easier for her to be brave. She asks you out, without dancing around the subject or mixing up her words (which she was afraid of doing). You're glad that she asked first, because you were terrified to ask her!
Penny: The only scenario I can see Penny making the move is if it's something she's challenged herself to do. If she's encouraging herself to make decisions for her own happiness and well-being, I can imagine her deciding to ask you out. She owes it to herself to be happy, and nothing would make her happier than to be with you. One day, the two of you were walking together and sharing stories when she gets the nerve and tells herself that today's the day. She stutters a bit, nervous but determined. Finally, she comes out and says it. "Would you like to, well... Do you want to go out with me?" Her face is bright red. You light up, not expecting her to be the one to ask. You tell her of course you'll go out with her. You were just about to ask her yourself!
Alex: He psyches himself up to ask you out one day while you're hanging out together. He starts to ask the question. "Hey, do you think you'd wanna-" and out of nowhere, he loses the nerve. You look at him expectantly. His face flushes. "Wanna... Throw the gridball around with me?" He finishes. He babbles a bit about needing the practical, while silently kicking himself for chickening out. The following week he decides to try again, but the same thing happens; He starts the question but backs out at the last second. What is going on? He's never been like this with anyone before. On his third try, he goes into it a little slower, and takes a deep breath. When he sees your face, he freezes. You realized what was going on from the get-go, but didn't want to hurt his pride. "Is there something you want to ask me?" You say gently? And that's all it takes for him to go right into the question.
Elliott: Like Leah, he's a fan of the grand gesture, almost to an extreme. He planned the perfect moment, down to the pouring rain, a rose in his hand, and a poem he wrote and memorized to ask you to be his partner. It was almost too cheesy, but in the moment it felt so beautiful and romantic, you couldn't bring yourself to laugh. Elliott's hair was soaked from the downpour and his smile was so sincere, it was like something out of a movie. He recited his poem, and when you returned his feelings he embraced you for an elegant, sopping wet hug.
Harvey: He had a hard time bringing himself to ask you out. Not because he didn't want to, because he really did, but because he wasn't sure about the ethical side of it, given that you're technically his patient. After stewing on it for a while, he comes to the conclusion that his moral quandaries shouldn't stop him from being with you. He catches you on a beautiful, sunny day and asks you to talk for a moment. He's a perfect gentleman, saying you can decline if you'd like to. But of course, you don't want to decline.
Sam: I don't think he ever actually asked you out. It just sort of happened over time without either of you ever defining the relationship. It started slow; the two of you hanging out casually. Then it became more. Out of nowhere one day he leans in to kiss you, taking you both by surprise. He apologizes after, and you tell him you liked it and he shouldn't be sorry. From then on, you're more than just friends. You hold hands, you kiss on occasion, sometimes he'll even put his arm around you when you're watching TV together. Weeks go by. One evening the two of you are cuddled together on the couch. "Do you think we'll ever be, like, 'official'?" You ask. Sam frowns and looks at you. "We aren't? I thought we were this whole time". You laugh, because it really did feel that way.
Sebastian: He asked very casually. It was while the two of you were hanging out together in his room. You'd just finished a game of Solarian Chronicles, and now you were just sitting next to each other on the floor. You'd liked him for a while and you were pretty sure he liked you back, but you just weren't certain enough to want to make the first move. You sat together for a while, talking and joking around like you do, when he slips in the question. "I've been meaning to ask, would you want to go out with me?". He says it coolly, but you can see the color on his cheeks. He was nervous. You smile, and tell him you'd love to go out with him.
Shane: He had no intention of asking you out. The thought had crossed his mind, but he didn't think someone like you had any business dating a mess like him. So he kept the crush to himself, liking you from a safe distance. Even after the walls had broken down and he'd begun therapy, he still didn't feel worthy of you. But you kept coming around. You brought him gifts, you checked in on his chickens, you played with Jas. He's not a religious man, but it felt like the universe was trying to tell him something. He gave in. One evening at the Saloon, you were chatting and sharing a pizza, he decided to take a shot. "Look, you can say no, but uh... Maybe you'd want to try dating? I don't know, it's up to you". He lost the confidence quickly into the question, but when your face lit up and you agreed, he knew he made the right choice.
Wht abut headcannons for Emily and Shane with a fem farmer who's just had a bad stressful day and needs a good ol huggin
Emily: She always greets the farmer with a hug, no matter what kind of day she's had. But she's very intuitive, so if she senses that she's had a stressful day she slows down. She'll ask about how she's feeling, express her empathy, then she'll pull the farmer in close, and say exactly what she needs to hear. "You're doing amazing".
Shane: He has a harder time with hugs. It's never been how he shows affection. But one evening he sees the farmer just completely exhausted and overwhelmed, and he knows the one thing he can do to help. Awkwardly, he wraps his strong arms around her and holds her. She's startled by the unexpected gesture, but it completely melts her heart. "Don't expect this every time" he grunts, even though he's loving the hug just as much as she is.
can you please have some Maru and Sebastian bonding time!! Fluff pls thank you!! Love your blog!!
I love this request!
- Having grown close with the farmer, Sebastian was inspired to try and mend the long-withered relationship with his sister. He approached her one day and asked if she wanted to go see Mysterium in the new theater with him.
- Maru was indifferent about the movie, but she was absolutely shocked to hear Sebastian offer to spend time with her. She couldn't remember the last time they'd spoken, let alone hung out together. But she agreed, knowing this was his way of reaching out.
- They went to see the movie, which Sebastian loved and Maru liked fine enough, but it gave them something to talk about. A few days later Maru brought him a piece of obsidian, saying she found it in her junk drawer and it looked like something he'd like.
- As their relationship improved, they ended up finding more things in common than they thought. It turned out they had the same dry, sarcastic sense of humor and were good at making each other laugh.
- It was weird for Abigail and Sam, who had known Sebastian for so long, to see him be amicable with Maru. "Does this mean I can date your sister?" Sam asked, which was met with a firm no. "What about me?" Asked Abigail. The answer was still no.
- They're still figuring out how to be siblings, but they're on the right track by becoming friends. It made Robin and surprisingly Demetrius happy to see the two of them being a pair. They felt more like a family than they ever have.
Could you do an imagine where Sebastian is telling Sam for the first time that he and the farmer are dating but Sam gets jealous bc he also likes the farmer?
A Good Actor
The first clue that something was up with Sebastian is when Sam won against him in pool. It was the only time in anyone's memory where Sebastian had lost to Sam, and it was even more alarming that he didn't scowl or roll his eyes when Sam stood up on the pool table to gloat (which Gus put a stop to pretty quickly). It was Abigail who finally said something.
"Sebastian!" she said, snapping her fingers near his face, "what's up with you? You're in la-la land, dude".
Sebastian shook his head, but a tinge on color crept onto his face.
Abigail and Sam broke out in ooohs, but Sebastian brushed them off.
"You have to tell us" Abigail insisted.
Sam, in his head, went through the list of people Sebastian could possibly be dating. Abigail would've been his top suspect, but evidently that wasn't the case. He remembers Sebastian once making on off-handed comment on Alex, saying that he found him handsome, but that didn't seem likely. Maybe someone from out of town?
"Ugh, fine. I started going out with the farmer"
Sam's heart sank like a marble in water.
"Th-the farmer?" He stammered, hoping maybe he hadn't heard it right.
But he knew better. Sam fell for the farmer the day they moved to the valley. Sometimes he'd convince himself to ask them out, but they were always busy or talking to someone else and he'd lose the courage. It wasn't much like him, but he'd never really crushed on anyone like he did the farmer.
Abigail made a comment that made Sebastian roll his eyes, but Sam wasn't paying attention. He had to get it together and be happy for his friend.
"That's awesome, Seb" he said, hoping he sounded convincing. Sebastian smiled.
"Yeah. I've liked them for a while, I guess. I finally just got the balls to ask them out yesterday"
The three of them chatted a bit longer before Sebastian decided to head home for the night. He had the furthest to walk. Abigail and Sam congratulated him once more before he left the saloon.
Sam sighed, feeling disappointed in the situation and in himself.
"You're not a very good actor" Abigail said after a few minutes.
Sam frowned.
"What do you mean?"
"C'mon, I could see how devastated you were. If it helps, though, I don't think Sebastian noticed. He was too distracted"
Sam thought about playing dumb, but there was no getting in past Abigail. She was too clever when it came to these kinds of things.
"Yeah, okay. I've just talked myself out of asking the farmer out so many times, and then he beats me to the punch" he sighed.
"Oh," Abigail knitted her eyebrows together, "I thought you liked Sebastian, and you were jealous of the farmer. Not the other way around. I guess you are a pretty good actor".
Heyo, my favourite ship in the game is Actually Kent/Jodi, so if you could make some headcanons for them that'd be great! I just think that their characters are really interesting. Thanks!
- They met in college. She was a sorority girl who loved to have a good time, meet new people, and party on the weekends. He was a sweet, quiet kind of guy that wanted to focus on his degree.
- They met at a birthday party for Kent's roommate. Jodi knew him from a class they had together. They bumped into each other by accident (Jodi was a little tipsy) and had a strange, unlikely connection. She was enamored by his softness and gentle spirit. He was astounded by her beauty and her intelligence.
- Kent was usually pretty shy, but he got the courage to ask her on a date. She happily agreed, and they began going out.
- A lot of people were surprised by how different they were. Jodi was a social butterfly who seemed to know everyone on campus, and Kent was so quiet and studious. It ended up being the perfect dynamic for them, and they became the school's power couple.
- They'd been going out for a little over a year when Jodi became pregnant. Both of them panicked as neither felt they were ready to have a kid.
- Jodi felt like the only move was for her to drop out of school and find a job to cover the expenses of having a child, but Kent insisted that she finish her degree, and he was the one who dropped out.
- Kent did some side gigs here and there, but couldn't quite find a job that could support them fully. Meanwhile, Jodi finished her last semester of college and graduated while 7 months pregnant.
- Around this time is when Kent got hired as a garbage man. It was dirty work but it made good money, enough that Jodi would be able to stay home with their baby.
- Not long later, their little boy was born. Kent picked out the name Samson. On that same evening, when Jodi was still in the hospital room, snuggling their newborn, Kent proposed. He hadn't planned it, he didn't even have a ring, it just felt so perfect with their little family.
hi recently i've been thinking about fem farmer and abigail in sam's 8 heart event, abigail straightens her hair and gets close to farmer girl 😳👉👈
After The Show
The farmer stood at the front of the venue. The heavy beat of the drum thundered in her body as The Pelicans played their setlist. Sam grinned at her in the audience, happy to see his friend support him and his band. The farmer was glad to be there for him, but if she was honest with herself, she was there to see Abigail. She'd caught the farmer's eye the day she moved to Pelican Town and she's been looking for excuses to see her. Coming to the concert was her ace in the hole; she was going to catch Abigail after the show.
Abigail had straightened her hair and lined her eyes in metallic purple makeup. She looked bewitching, especially as she bopped her head to the rhythm of her drumming.
When their setlist was over, the farmer cheered along with the crowd. Sam basked in the applause. Sebastian stood behind his keyboard, seemingly uncomfortable with the attention. Abigail scanned the crowd, looking pleased with herself. Her eyes locked with the farmer's and she winked. She felt her cheeks get hot.
The farmer met the band backstage. Sam ran up to greet her first.
"That was AWESOME, can you believe it?!" He shouted, shaking the farmer's shoulders in excitement. She praised his performance and congratulated him, but her eyes were trained on Abigail, who was chatting with Sebastian.
After a few minutes Sam broke away to get some water. Sebastian had followed him, leaving Abigail standing by herself. The farmer's nerves races, but she swallowed her fear and approached the other girl.
"You sounded awesome" she said, more meekly than she meant to.
Abigail smiled, brushing her still-straight hair behind her ears.
"Thank you. I'm glad you made it"
The farmer nodded.
"Of course, I'll always support my frien-"
"I mean," Abigail interrupted, "I'm really glad that you made it".
She said it so smoothly that the farmer thought she would melt into a puddle right there.
"Oh, uh.. thank you" she replied weakly.
The farmer's back was against a brick wall. Abigail put her hand against the wall and leaned in closer to the farmer, sending electric shivers through her whole body.
"You know, I think we should hang out sometime" Abigail said. The farmer gulped, enchanted by Abigail's sudden bravado.
"Yeah," she almost whispered, "I'd really like that".
hi !! could i ask for sam and genderfluid farmer being best friends and eventually dating ? thanks !!
Of course!
- I'm in the camp where Sam couldn't care less who you are or what your identity is; if you're cool then he's your buddy, no questions asked. He's the same way when it comes to who he's attracted to, so there were never any qualms when he began developing feelings for the farmer.
- They started out as friends. They had a lot in common and enjoyed causing mischief together. Sam was over at the farm almost every day hanging out and maybe lending a hand here and there if the farmer asked.
- His feelings for them came out of thin air. The farmer was trying (with great difficulty) to teach Sam how to fish, and when they put their hand on his to help him reel in his catch, which ended up being a wad of trash, he felt the spark of electricity.
- From the on he was head over heels for the farmer, no matter how they presented themself on any given day. It was puppy love, and he made no secret of it.
- At first the farmer wasn't sure it was a great idea: They'd become such good friends and they had to focus on their farm. When they told Sam that he just said "That's okay. I'll be ready if you ever change your mind!"
- Despite their best efforts, they couldn't help but catch feelings for him. He was just so kind and considerate, even if he was a little goofy. Eventually they folded and agreed to go on a "trial date" to test the waters. Sam eagerly agreed.
- For their trial date, they went fishing in the mountains. The farmer caught a bucket full of big fish, and Sam caught enough trash and algae to fill the same bucket. But after they put their poles away, they sat on the edge of the water with their feet in the lake. They held hands and talked until sundown, and it felt as natural as breathing.
- There was no moment that made it official, they just started dating after that. It was just like it'd been when they were just friends, but now with lots of kissing and cuddles!
Hello I’m not sure if you done this before but if you haven’t can we have some Shane x male farmer fluff
Shane lovers, come get y'all juice!
- I believe that in the beginning of the relationship Shane had a hard time showing affection to the farmer. Not because he didn't want to (because Yoba, he just wanted to hold his hand and kiss him and be held by him all night long), but because he'd never done any of that with another man before.
- He felt like a silly schoolboy getting nervous when the farmer's hand brushed his or when his spine would tingle thinking about how much he wanted to kiss him. It was nothing like anything he'd felt for anyone else before.
- Sometimes the nerves would get the best of him and he'd shy away from the farmer's touch. Eventually the farmer got worried.
- "You don't have to do anything that you aren't ready for" he told Shane one day after he'd tried to kiss him and he backed away.
- Shane felt terrible. He wanted the farmer to know how much he liked him, and he wanted to kiss him so badly. "No no, it's not that... I've just, uh, never had anything like, well, this".
- He appreciated how understanding the farmer was being, but in that moment he resolved to show him how much he cared about him. He grabbed the farmer by the face and brought him in for a long kiss that he hoped would explain everything he couldn't put into words.
- When he finally pulled away the farmer just smiled at him for a moment. "You don't have to look at me like I'm a dancing monkey or something" he grumbled. But he was ecstatic. He could barely help himself from jumping with joy.
- It still took him a while to get truly comfortable just showing affection willy nilly, but once he was he was practicing attached at the farmer's hip. He always had his arm around his shoulders or his hand tangled carelessly in his hair.
- And for what it's worth, the farmer could never get enough of it
Penny spent most of the fall on the farm, when she wasn't working that is. The farmer had set up a little bench underneath the apple trees for her to read or think or do whatever Penny does on quiet, autumn evenings.
She was often melancholy in the fall. Most days, the farmer would come home from a day of working to find her sitting solemnly on her bench. Sometimes she'd be reading, but a lot of times she would just sit and watch the crops dance in the wind.
"Penny," the farmer said one day after returning from the mines, "You've been so quiet lately. C'mon, let's go for a walk together".
The farmer held out a hand to her. She took it, a soft smile emerging on her face. They walked hand in hand through the farm and down into Cindersap Forest.
"The leaves are so colorful" she mused. The farmer agreed and kissed her hand.
By the time they reached the far cliff of the forest the light had dimmed to a beautiful orange. The farmer took off their jacket and laid it in the grass for Penny to sit on. She giggled gratefully, and the farmer sat down next to her.
"I know fall is a hard time of year for you"
She nodded silently. The farmer's heart began to skip. They could feel the blood rushing to their head. They snuck their hand into their pants pocket to feel the mermaid's pendant, to know that it was there. The touch of the pendant sent a feeling of clarity to their heart, and they knew it was time.
"I, uh, I was going to wait until Winter Star, but well..."
Penny watched curiously as the farmer slipped the shimmering pendant out of their pocket and held it up to her.
"I want you to have a happy memory for the fall. Penny, will you marry me?"
She looked at the farmer, then at the pendant, then at the farmer again.
"Oh..." her voice trailed off, and the farmer panicked, thinking she was about to reject them. Her eyes sparkled in the golden evening sun.
"I absolutely will!" she beamed. The farmer sighed in relief. Penny delicately plucked the pandant from their hand and held it against her chest.
could i get some uhhhhhh good haley (married to a fem farmer) content pls?
Yes yes yes!
- In the first few months of their marriage, Haley really tries to fit in the role of "housewife". She takes care of the house and cooks while her wife tends the farm.
- After a while, the farmer tells her "You don't have to do all this, you know. I don't expect you to be a perfect housewife". Haley just smiles and says "I know, I just like doing these things for you".
- She eventually backs off of it, helping out where needed of course, but not putting the pressure on herself to be perfect. She still bakes though, and she makes a mean sourdough.
- After settling into the farm life, Haley decides she needs a new hobby. She ends up really enjoying making jellies, pickles, and other canned food. It gives her a way to contribute to the farm while also doing her own thing.
- On days when the farmer is rushing around and overworking herself, Haley is amazing at pulling her back down to earth and encouraging her to slow down.
- She'll always make the farmer eat breakfast before she goes out to do her work, even when she swears up and down that she's not hungry. Haley will just roll her eyes and hand her an apple. "I'm not going to drag you out of those creepy mines if you pass out down there, so you better eat something".
- Haley will always be Haley, but she fits like a missing puzzle piece on the farm, and the farmer can't fathom how she survived this long without her.
Hey Could you do a sdv hc with alex and a male farmer where his dad comes back or he gets a letter and is trying to protect the farmer but he's freaking out over it and getting overwhelmed. Maby his dad is homophobic
Thank you for this request, Anon. Sorry it took so long to get to it!
- The letter comes when everything feels too good to be true. It took so long for Alex to work up the nerve and admit that he liked the farmer, and now that they're finally going steady and have something special, here comes his dad to ruin it.
- After some deliberation, he reads the letter. His dad says that he's been through rehab and is finally back on his feet. He wants to see the man Alex has become and maybe rekindle their relationship.
- Alex has no interest in seeing his dad, and he goes to rip up the letter when the farmer stops him. He convinces Alex to at least see him, if for nothing else but closure. Reluctantly, he calls the phone number on the letter and arranges to meet his dad at the saloon that Saturday.
- The week leading up to it is difficult. Alex is tense and slightly standoffish towards his boyfriend. The farmer lets it slide for a bit but finally calls him out.
- "Honestly, I don't want my dad to know about you. I don't think he'll like seeing me with another man" he says. The farmer gets it, but is understandably hurt. He decides to give Alex some space for a little bit.
- That Friday night, as the farmer is starting to settle in for bed, he hears a knock on the door. He answers it to see a sobbing Alex on his doorstep.
- The farmer takes him in his arms and let's him cry until he's all cried out.
- "I take it back," Alex says, wiping his nose, "Please come with me tomorrow. I need you there, I don't care what my dad thinks". The farmer agrees, soothing him well past midnight. They fall asleep together on the couch, Alex's head on the farmer's chest.
- Alex is anxious the whole morning. He helps with the farm chores then goes for a run to help with his nerves. The farmer is nervous too, but he holds it together for Alex's sake.
- At 5 p.m the two of them walk hand in hand to the Saloon. Alex takes a deep breath, then they enter together. His dad is seated at the corner table. Alex sits in the seat across from him, the farmer sliding in next to him.
- "Who's this?" His dad asks gruffly. Alex frowns and proudly claims the farmer as his boyfriend. He tells his dad how happy he makes him and how the farmer's helped him become a better man.
- His dad doesn't say anything, but he glowers at the two of them. There's an uncomfortable silence for a while. Eventually the farmer stands up, plants a big fat his on Alex's forehead, then goes up to the bar to let him and his dad say what needs to be said.
- They talk so quietly that the farmer can't hear them, but it doesn't look like a pleasant conversation. They go back and forth quietly until Alex stands up and tells his dad "It doesn't matter what you think. I'm done with you, for good this time". The farmer takes the hint and rushes out of the Saloon with Alex, his father still fuming at the table.
- They make a beeline for the farm. Alex holds it together until the get to the house. He plops down on the porch and buries his head in his hands.
- The farmer apologizes for how it turned out and the part he played in it, but Alex just shakes his head. "Anyone who doesn't care how happy you make me or can't see how much you've done for me has no place in my life".
Shane was going to skip the Flower Dance this year. He was still in bed when Jas came in wearing her white lace dress and begged him to go. Unable to refuse her, he pulled himself up, got dressed, and walked with her and Marnie to the dance.
He did what he always did at this festival; enjoyed the free food and kept to himself. He exchanged some pleasantries with a few neighbors before Emily came running up to him, a beaming smile on her face.
"I have a request for you! You're going to say no, but I'm going to ask anyways" she said, slightly out of breath. She was excited about something.
"Go for it"
"Ask the new farmer to dance with you"
"... No."
Emily's smile didn't falter for a second.
"You should! I was talking to them just a bit ago and they expressed interest in you"
Shane frowned. He'd talked to the farmer maybe twice ever, and he hadn't really thought much of them.
"How did that even come up?" He asked skeptically.
Emily smoothed out her hair.
"To be honest, I was about to ask them myself, but they started asking about you and if you were seeing anybody. Which of course I said no. So you should ask them!"
Shane snuck a look at the farmer. They were conversing with Leah and Elliott.
All these good looking people in town, and they're asking about me?
"Yeah, uh, I don't know" he grumbled. He muttered something about needing a drink and walked away.
He was pouring a cup of salmonberry wine when the farmer caught up to him.
"I've been wanting to try my hand at making wine" They said.
Shane didn't say anything. What was he supposed to do?
"Who made that wine? Maybe I can get some tips"
"Uh, I think Pierre's wife made it" he replied.
That seemed to be the end of the conversation. The farmer turned away to get a plate of food, and Shane was left alone.
He was starting to wonder if he should've just asked the farmer to dance with him when Mayor Lewis spoke up.
"The dance is about to begin! Dancers, please pair up and get in line"
Shane sighed and finished off his wine, his eyes searching for Emily's bright blue hair in the scattering of people.
"Would you want to dance with me?"
Shane turned around and faced the farmer who was looking at him in earnest. He considered telling them that he already had a partner, but then thought better of it.
"Uh... Sure"
The farmer beamed, then grabbed his hand before he could change his mind. They led him to the field where the other young people in town were gathering. When Emily caught sight of Shane, hand in hand with the farmer, she gave him a double thumbs up and slunk to the sidelines.
