// I have been busy with work and have found a new hobby that I love. I will write Arthur when I can.
// Watching a show set in Chicago and realizing that Arthur's childhood neighborhood wasn't remotely the most affluent one.
ANONYMOUSLY TELL ME YOUR HONEST OPINION ABOUT ME. I CANâT REPLY/COMMENT, JUST PUBLISH.
// Arthur is a typical Chicagoan. He is friendly, outgoing, a huge fan of The Bears, and proud of his neighborhood even though he hates going back there. However, he isnât typical in the sense that he prefers the South Side to the North Side where he grew up and is a huge White Sox fan, while the rest of his family prefer the Chicago Cubs.
@starfallcn said, "forever is a dangerous word."
gwen comes to mind. so does lanslod. for a heartbeat, he wonders what an odd thing to think of when none of them talked about forever as a trio. he and gwen did when the subject of marriage came up. at the same time, he and his best friend always assumed they'd be together in some shape or form. forever, the three of them. like the three musketeers. in another life, maybe they could've been together forever. if any one of them learned to communicate differently or even better. or, if arthur wasn't such an overthinking asshole.
then again, he'd been in several gun fights that felt like forever. when one breath stretches time in ways that should defy science. when it feels like you have an eternity to hurt and bleed and fear the end is just a blink away.
clenching his jaw, arthur distracts himself by taking a sip from the bottle of beer in front of them. despite the seemingly relaxed position in the bar stool, he's ready to reach for the fixed blade in a sheath at his ankle. more than that tended to make people jumpy in a lot of places so the guns that belonged in his shoulder holsters were locked in the car.
" it's a word of hope. " one shoulder shrugs up. when the bartender walks by, the blonde motions for a water. " it's a word you use when you think you have more time than you do. to me, anyway. "
taking another sip from the beer, arthur angles himself towards the voice. " what did you say your name was? "
âArthur,â Arthur replied.
He thought about the guyâs words. A word you use when you have more time than you do. How true that was. When he had been with Lyanna in that penthouse apartment, Arthur had thought that they had had all the time in the world. However, time was running out faster than either of them realized. One morning, Arthur had been awoken by the sound of gunfire and that had been the end.
âI honestly donât know why my dad named me that,â he said after taking a long sip from his glass. âWhat about yours?"
Being the daughter of a diplomat, AngĂŠlique frequently went wherever her father did. Tagging along like an otherwise lost duckling attached to its mother, or in this case father, duck, she habitually made the acquaintance of many a politician. However, it infrequent to see them outside of the typical events.
Outgoing but not necessarily extroverted, what had only meant into being a simple acknowledgement and greeting had turned into a long-winded discussion about family and the typical affairs of life. It would have gone on much longer, if not for the time.
Walking out, she perked up when a voice called out to her. She blinked rapidly before masking.âOh yes! We had the most marvellous conversation.â Ange retorted. âWhy do you ask?â
Arthur whether to tell the truth or not. He shifted uncomfortably from one foot to another as he glanced quickly across the street and looked for Rhaegar.
âIâm his security guy,â he responded as he turned and glanced at the young woman again. âAre you a friend of his something?â She looked vaguely familiar although Arthur couldnât place her. Then again, everyone in Rhaegarâs circles looked vaguely familiar. Â
ăă' đđŽđŹđ˘đ§đđŹđŹ. ' she responded without hesitation, running her finger lightly over the condensation on her glass. truthfully, she couldn't even remember the last time she'd taken a vacation or gone anywhere by herself for the pleasure of it.
ăă' i don't know if you follow the news, but there's a significant criminal trial coming up soon. i was asked to consult. '
 âI donât.â
Arthur had been so busy wrangling Lyanna that he hadnât really had any time to follow the news.
âWhat is the crime that the defendant is accused of?â Arthur asked trying to conceal his ignorance by an innocent question. âRacketeering? Money laundering? Extortion?â
@beefsolo
The sky was a dull grey as the limousine inched its way along Washingtonâs streets. Every once in a while, Arthur would glance out the window at the people that were walking down the street or waiting for the lights to change. Each of them was absorbed in their own little dramas and yet they were all part of a greater drama.
He looked in the rearview mirror and nodded at his boss. âWhatâs on your mind?â he asked. âAnything I can help you with?â Â
// Arthur became a Kingsguard because he was the second son in his family. Unlike first sons who inherited the castle and the titles, second sons really didnât really inherit much of anything and had to fend for themselves. Some went across the Narrow Sea and became rich, others served their brothers as men at arms, and still others took the black.
Arthur had no real taste for becoming one of the watchers on the Wall or seeking his fortune in distant and exotic places. He preferred to serve the king by guarding him and protecting his interests. That is what he did and that is what he died for.
Arthur wasnât a saint. He wasnât a great hero. He was just a man doing his duty and, for that above all else, others remembered him.

This isnât commonly known but one of the rings of hell is actually being in a fandom wherein the popular bloggers have the worst opinions known to man that everyone else parrots
// Arthur is such a minor character in ASOIAF and that I could pretty much write him however I want. There does have to be a certain ring of truth to him, but thatâs the only criteria that exists because there is so little material about him and nothing from his perspective. Â
// Arthur learned from personal experience that it was far better to flatter others rather than to tell them the truth. This is because most people donât want to hear the truth and, even if they do, it sometimes hurts them or makes them extremely angry. Therefore, Arthur avoids this as much as possible around the people that he considers to be his employers.
Around his friends and his family, Arthur can be as honest as he wants. He doesnât need to flatter any of them because they donât flatter him. He can be as honest and as blunt as he wants because his friends and family understand him and he isnât risking his job by telling them the truth. Â
// I do think that Lyanna and Arthurâs friendship evolved during their time at the Tower of Joy. In the beginning, she thought of him as her babysitter and treated him the same way that any teenager would treat a hated chaperone (although Oswell Whent and Gerold Hightower got the worst of it because they were considerably older than Arthur). After that, the two of them developed a grudging friendship and started confiding in each other. Over time, that friendship deepened to the point where Arthur wasnât simply defending Lyanna and her son when Ned arrived, but a dear friend. Â
"you're not getting any younger. the world's changing. music's changing"
Trainspotting Meme
âWhat the kids are listening to these days isnât music,â Arthur said as he adjusted his sunglasses and crossed his arms over his chest. âA lot of it is just the same three chords repeated over and over to a specific kind of beat and some guy raps about something. Or itâs a bunch of Korean girls singing nonsense in English.â
He didnât care what people did or didnât listen to. Not really, but there was a line. âThe Beatles, Elvis, and Little Richard,â he said after a moment. âThatâs what I consider music.â

the truth is that i'm a bad person. but that's gonna change. i'm going to change.
now i'm cleaning up and i'm moving on, going straight and choosing life.
the streets are awash with drugs you can have for unhappiness and pain, and we took them all.
choose life. choose a job. choose a career. choose a family.
why would i want to do a thing like that?
i chose not to choose life. i chose something else.
the reasons? there are no reasons.
doesn't it make you proud to be scottish?
i've justified this to myself in all sorts of ways.
it wasn't a big deal, just a minor betrayal.
why did i do it? i could offer a million answers, all false.
i'm looking forward to it already.
i'm gonna be just like you.
excuse me. i don't mean to harass you, but i was very impressed with the capable and stylish manner in which you dealt with that situation.
i was thinking to myself, now this girl's special.
what's your name?
i'm going home.
i'll come back with you if you like, but like, i'm not promising anything, you know.
do you find that this approach usually works?
let me guess, you've never tried it before.
you don't normally approach girls, am i right?
personality, i mean that's what counts, right?
sounds great to me.
our only response was to keep on going and "fuck everything."
no matter how often you go out and rob and fuck people over, you always need to get up and do it all over again.
what are you two talking about?
no more. i'm finished with that shite.
gonna get it right this time. gonna get it sorted out.
i sure have heard that one before.
people think it's all about misery and desperation and death and all that shit which is not to be ignored, but what they forget is the pleasure of it. otherwise we wouldn't do it.
we're not fucking stupid. at least, we're not that fucking stupid.
now i'm ready.
what's on the menu this evening?
who the fuck are you?
did you bring the cards?
you're not getting any younger. the world's changing. music's changing
the guy's dead anyway.
the point is, you've got to find something new.
what do you mean?
at one time, you've got it, and then you lose it, and it's gone forever.
what's the point you're trying to make?
that means fuck all.
so we all get old and then we can't hack it anymore. is that it?
what attracts you to the leisure industry?
do you mean that you lied on your application?
i paid for the tickets!
it's all about aesthetics and it's fuck all to do with morality.
it seems, however, i really am the luckiest guy in the world.
what the fuck are these?
that's all i've got. take it or leave it.
i want a fucking hit.
i quite enjoyed the sound of it all.
for all the good they've done me, i might as well have stuck them up my arse.
for the first time in my adult life i was almost content.
useless motherfucker, that's what she called me.
i'm sorry, but these things happen. let's put it behind us.
you were quite happy to do a lot more last night.
calm down. you're not going to jail.
if you don't see me again, i'll tell the police.
i can't believe you did that.
The Chicago Christmas Tree in Millennium Park. Last night in downtown.
