Lmao my favourite thing is when deluded Ap*ll*nia stans say that Michael went back to Kay not because he loved her but because she was convenient/he had no choice.
Michael? Corleone? Michael Corleone?? 👀 We're talking about MICHAEL CORLEONE, right? NO CHOICE? 🥱 THIS IS MICHAEL CORLEONE. 💀 That man could have any woman he wants, Sicilian or not, and you think in a world revolving around his choices, he would simply SETTLE? 🤣 Have y'all watched the rest of the movie??? That man did anything BUT settle. Please. 💀
I’m going to repeat myself but I think I should reblog…
That man didn’t take off his wedding band for 10+ years after Kay dumped him… She aborted the son he so desperately wanted, but he still wanted her back as evidenced by part III. I wish some parts of the draft for part III were kept in because Michael’s love for Kay is even more emphasized, he tells her he wants her to love him back. And he admits he married Apollonia because “better to marry than to burn.”
This discourse shouldn’t even exist since the book says Michael loved two things: Vito and Kay. Also Francis Ford Coppola said Michael always loved Kay and he would always love her, in Coppola’s words Kay and Michael’s love was the REAL thing.
It doesn’t really matter if you like Kay or not, or whom you prefer Michael with.

Not Godfather related but I fucking love Goodfellas. Finally watched it a few months ago and I've been obsessed ever since
of all the arguments that people use to hate on kay in the godfather “she asks too many questions” is the worst because she’s literally just asking??? if her husband??? you know the man that she shares a bed with??? and father of her children??? killed another human being???? or if he threatened someone to lie??? under oath??? before CONGRESS??? like, girlie isn’t even asking where the money comes from, she just wants to know if michael hasn’t turned into a complete sociopath
So true. I guess asking questions is a worse crime than actually killing people or being a whole mob boss??? A lot of Godfather fans forget that you're not supposed to think Michael is a good human being.
the way people just keep getting the wrong lessons from it 😭, the moment she slaps her after the abortion news is supposed to make us see he’s at his morally lowest, it’s not a “hell yeah, show that bitch”
Exactly!! The amount of comments I've seen cheering that he slapped her or even wishing that he had killed her is alarming. That slap definitely was Michael's lowest point (along with Fredos murder).
