in this month, which is both pride and indigenous history month, please unpack ur “i wanna move to a farm w my wife uwu” shit and realize it holds an inherent expectation of access to land stolen from indigenous people. it’s irresponsible to move to a rural area to ““live off the land”” without giving serious thought to whose land it was before white settlers took it over and how you can work to undo that theft. becoming a white settler yourself ain’t it.

I’ve been seeing alot of these kind of posts targeting white people who want to purchase land, and as a native person myself, the hostility is really unfounded. I get what it’s all going for but it’s just barking up the wrong tree. Yes, the land is stolen. And it was stolen a long time ago, and many aboriginal people were hurt when the land taken and abused. There’s nothing wrong with a few people on the internet having daydreams about managing a farm.

I wasn’t able to discern race from either of the above two responses, so I’m not going to make any assumptions, but I have seen a few of these posts posted by white people. So, if you’re a white person, instead of crying “colonialism!” Out on the internet because people want to own a farm, actually go out and help native people. Learn their cultures and languages, and help preserve them. Donate your time and money to fundraisers and organizations that help native people. Guilt shaming other people for purchasing land that was long taken from us long ago doesn’t actually help natives! If you’re looking for places to donate, please help the local Indian Bands in your provinces, states, county, etc. Do a cursory search on the internet or ask around near where you live. You’ll find something that you can actually do to help someone who needs that help right now.

For example, I’m Haida- from the north-west coast people who live on Haida Gwaii. Our language is dying, and only twelves dozen speakers are still alive after heavy erasure. You can learn some of the language here (for free!:

This is some research I just did right now. Please, if you’re concerned about what has happened in the past, and what you can do to fix it, please do something worthwhile. Getting mad at strangers who want to own some land doesn’t get native people anywhere.

Also, it was not the apple falling from a tree that made Issac Newton “discover” gravity. He was reading the books of Ibn Al Haytham, an Arab Muslim from Iraq, who pioneered the scientific method, discovered gravity and wrote about the laws governing the movement of bodies (now known as Newtons three laws of motion) some 600 years before Newton existed. Without him, modern science as we know it wouldn’t exist. Read on him. His achievements are far greater than what I’ve just mentioned here.

In the middle ages, THE place to go for an education was the middle East, or, failing that, Spain. The Muslim world didn’t have the same limits placed on scientific inquiry that the Christian world did, and since they were willing to look at more than just Aristotole and actually compare texts to the observable world, they had some incredible scientific and mathematical advancements. And street lights and toilets. I mean theories and algebra are great and all, but street lights and toilets. In the 12th century. Also medical advancements, and fewer rules against women studying. Hell, women *should* be the ones studying the female body, would you rather a woman see your female relatives, or some old man? Would you rather have someone who lives in the same kind of body, or one who has no first hand idea what the parts can do?

If you’re a person who pursues sexual or romantic partners who are already in a relationship, keep this in mind:  You’re not a nice guy. You’re being a major asshole. 

I see this happen most often when a couple is having some sort of difficulties, and then a third person swoops in to take advantage of the weakness.  Often, the person swooping in sees themselves as some sort of nice-guy, liberator who is saving some poor cute person from their bad partner, but honestly, it’s NOT COOL. You’re not being nice. You’re being a selfish dick.  Now, If you have a friend, and they are in a dangerous/abusive relationship and you want to help them get out? Go ahead! But if you’re doing it so that you can be with them instead, you’re doing it for the wrong reasons. And like, I’ve heard this line of “well if I didn’t try to get with them, I would have been being dishonest about my feelings” or whatever, but like idk, use self control. You can care about someone and love and support them without intending to fuck them.  Jim and Pam from the office or Jonathan and Nancy from stranger things are good examples of ‘cute’ television relationships that I kind of hate. I mean, the couples are cute and have chemistry or whatever but I hate how much the whole “sensitive nice guy saves poor cute girl from dumb jock” thing is romanticized. 

I’m guilty of being a partner that got swooped away when my relationship was having issues. And I recognize that I’m at fault for letting it happen. But it’s fucked up to target women who are in pain and struggling to fix a relationship. Additionally, in my experience, starting a relationship by “stealing” your partner from someone else, makes for an unstable base for your relationship.  I feel like a lot of the time, it isn’t even something the person is aware of though... SO If you look back at your relationship history and find that the people you’ve been trying to flirt with/ get with / fuck, have all had partners and around the time you started becoming interested in said person, their relationship fell apart, maybe it’s time you do some reflection on yourself and your choices. Maybe don’t put emotionally unstable and distraught people in that position.  But IDK what do I know I’m just a dumb angry baby.

I know I was taking a little break to avoid all the stress of the Charlottesville rally being talked about on tumblr, but I also wanted to make sure all of my Jewish mutuals know how loved they are. I know this is scary and sometimes it feels like the only people looking out for us is ourselves, but know that you are not alone and have never been alone. We are one mishpacha, one family, and we will look after each other and keep each other safe like we always have. I love each and every one of you. Remember, the whole world is a very narrow bridge and the main thing is to have no fear at all.

So I thought “Oh what the hell!” and started another comic project! This one’s about a girls’ basketball team that suddenly has to deal with a zombie apocalypse, and the coach, Jeff, soon finds out that the teenagers may be more suited to handle the situation than he is.

I’ve never been able to ask others for help but, despite crying as I type this up, I realize that I desperately need help. My name is Melle Brazile and I’m a 22 year old psychologically disabled queer. After years of therapy, anti-psychotic use, hospitalizations, and a failed suicide attempt, at 22, I’m finally trying to get on the path to get better. I’ve been diagnosed with psychosis, bipolar depression, severe anxiety, and trauma-induced PTSD. Dealing with all of this, I never expected to live this long. 

After being hospitalized last summer for overdosing, and having anti-psychotics ruin my eyesight, short term memory, cognitive function and personal relationships, I recognize that I want to get better. I’m seeking help for other issues, like my endometriosis and PCOS, but I need help when it comes to affording my dental bill. 

Due to years of depression and poor self care, plus years of taking heavy medication, my teeth aren’t doing well. I have multiple cavities in multiple teeth, need a minimum of two root canals, and at least one extraction. I’ve paid out of pocket for two extractions already (because the root canals were too expensive) and am taking out what loans I can to help pay for the rest, but I desperately need help. I don’t want to lose my teeth. 

I graduate undergrad in a year and will have to start paying back over $50,000 in loans, so the thought of needing to pay for the entirety of my dental work with more loans terrifies me. My mother and I are not well off at all and she is unable to help me with any of this. I owe about $5,000 in dental work and that’s excluding my front teeth. If you can help in any way whatsoever, I will appreciate it more than you know.

I know it may not seem super important to some, but  my teeth have been a great cause of anxiety, depression, poor self-esteem, and pain as of lately. I just want to be happy and healthy.
