“ you… made some for jazz, too? ” even he wouldn’t have done that - she’d loiter outside the door and just so happen to walk in when the baked goods were done, saying something about being hungry and coming down at the right time. that, and the last time he tried to make anything in the kitchen it came alive and tried to eat them for dessert.
“ wow that’s… really nice of you. ” as they argue he can’t help but take out another pastry and bite into it. something tells him this effort isn’t as shared as she’d like to lead him to believe, but he’s going to give them the benefit of the doubt if it meant he could start seeing less of ‘this side’ of tony. or he could leave danny alone, also a viable option.
“ so this is a peace offering, then? ” arms are crossed now, one eyebrow hitched as his gaze lands squarely on tony, “ as in, if i accept this, you and i are going to walk away and promise to stay out of each other’s way? ”
if this had been tony’s plan in the first place he sure had a funny way of showing it. having his sister bake pastries and apologize for his behavior? rough couple of months or not, that’s just bizarre. and pathetic. but he bites his tongue so not to stir the pot.
at least there is effort there. he can’t deny that.
so he sticks out his hand. “ truce? ”
This plan was very not Tony’s idea, was the thing.
He’d gotten up this morning, thinking all was right with the world while snacking on one of the many desserts Ella had been packing away this morning when she hit him with the “These are apology snacks!”
And there was only person she could be thinking of.
And he was still very not on board with this.
If anything, Tony very much thought Danny owed Ella an apology! He’d been the one to flip out! And if anything, it was because of Ella that Tony hadn’t done more than just be occasionally rude! He might still be recovering, but he could take this twig of a14 year old in a fight!
Ok, yeah, maybe he’d been unnecessarily mean at times, and maybe he shouldn’t have started talking shit about Danny’s friend that one time- but he would argue he was in the right to be upset that time!
But it seemed this was exactly what Ella had been hoping for Danny to say, as she perked up, shoving her brother forward with a chipper “Of course!“. The self proclaimed “smartest-guy-in-the-room” froze up, eyes widening as he immediately turns to Ella with a look of betrayal. She simply smiles up at him, leaning against him in a silent encouragement.
“Gh, I.” Tony takes a breath, seemingly incapable of meeting Danny’s eyes. “Fine. I won’t purposely be ru-GAH!” He yelps at Ella pinching his side, swatting at her hand with a huff. “OKAY! FINE! I won’t be rude for no reason! Geez!”
“Don’t be rude at all!” She says, still smiling up at her brother. “Say it.”
A deep breath, Tony turns back to Danny and takes the other’s extended hand. “Ok. I will. Try. To be nice.”
