📖Spiritual Stationery📖
[ I N T R O ]
I’m talking about Grimoires, Books of Mirrors, Books of Shadows, or any other book you might use to record various parts of your spiritual path. This can go from witchcraft related information or correspondences to simply record your dreams and delving into the meaning. I’m going to talk about some of the different types of spiritual journals, talk a little about how I use my personal spiritual journals, and then give ideas, tips, and tricks on things you can incorporate into your spiritual stationery.
I am writing this to help those who have a tough time with their spiritual stationery as I did when I was first starting out. Maybe you feel like you don’t know where to start? What should you call your book(s)? What should you use? What could you put into your book(s)? I understand that there may be others who want to record their path, but feel like something is preventing them from doing so. This is to help those people, but this might be helpful for anyone who is trying to establish regular documentation of your spiritual path. :)
Generally, when we talk about a Grimoire, a Book of Shadows, and a Book of Mirrors we are referring to three different types of journals. A Grimoire would normally only holds your finalized spells and recipes. A Book of Shadows if generally for information about correspondences of the things/tools you work with or anything that pertains to what you use in your craft. Finally, your Book of Mirrors is kind of like your personal journal. Inner thoughts about your spirituality, things you want to contemplate, your beliefs about magick/the universe. You would also normally work out things in your Book of Mirrors before you put them into your Grimoire once they’re finalized.
That was just a little bit of information about the general ‘definitions’ on these three different kinds of spiritual journals. However, I would like to say that you don’t have to have three separate books in order to document your path. You can even combine them all into one, or only have two books, or even have so many books that you feel like you have a library. Don’t feel afraid to create your own versions of spiritual stationery, or giving them your own names. Your path is your own and you can do with it as you please, and this also means you can do whatever you want to do with how you decide to record your path. It’s different for everyone.
How I use my Spiritual Stationery
I have three books that I use, but I don’t have a Book of Shadows. I have a Grimorie (Which you could say is a mixture between a grimoire and a BOS), a Book of Mirrors, and my Book of Spirit. Personally, I not only put spells and recipes in my Grimoire, but I also put poetry and dedication pages to my deities and spirit companions. My Book of Mirrors not only holds my thoughts on magick, but it also holds poetry dedicated to my deities, my dreams, and all of the tarot readings I have done for myself. As for my Book of Spirit, that is actually a spiritual art journal that I am using to connect with my path/craft/spirituality through the lens of art.
What to use as Spiritual Stationery?
You can use anything. You can decide to use a physical journal that you have to write in (like I do) or you can make one that is digital. There are a lot of different apps that you can find that will let you have different notebooks in one app so you can organize things the way you want. Evernote is something I use (not for spiritual stuff) and it has the ability to create notebooks and different kinds of entries. But you can totally also use physical binders of folders if that is what you wanna do! Remember, this is for you. Do whatever makes you feel comfortable.
A Tip or Three
If you are one who feels like you can’t start or continue with an actual journal you have to write in (maybe you feel like you won’t make it ‘pretty’ enough, or that you might ruin the journal), maybe think about starting a digital one.
Though you might be like me, and you might really, really want to have a physical book. A big problem with this is having a really nice book and messing it up, or making a page you don’t like. Here is some advice for that: You can always cover a page with another page. Just glue it on top. Or even tear the page out. This is your book and you can do whatever you want with it. Also, remember that’s it doesn’t have to start off as pretty as you would like it. You can add things as you go along to previous pages. The book never has to be finished until you say so.
Seriously, the whole idea of covering pages with pasted pages has saved my life when it comes to having a physical spiritual journal. I would start a book, hate what I put in there, and then I would rip the pages out and use the book for something else. Now I just cover up a page. Because of this, my Grimoire is nearly done, and my Book of Mirrors is halfway done. These are now my most important tools.
I’d also like to mention having a rough draft, and multiple if you feel like you need more. Think about it. Your path can change at any time. There are some things that might work for you now but won’t later. This is okay! Don’t worry about this! But you might not want to put alot of energy into a really big expensive book that you won’t really use.
Information to put into your Spiritual Stationery
I would categorize these things into what I would put in what book, but I am just going to let you decide :) I will split them up based on ‘basics’ and ‘personal’ stuff, though, just for some organization for this post.
Please take note that you don’t have to include everything or even anything at all that I’ve listed here! These are just ideas to help those who don’t know what do to! Also, some may feel that a few of these things listed under ‘basics’ are actually personal things, and that’s okay! Do what you want with these! Put them in any book you want!

♡ how to make lavender oil at home ♡
Lavender oil not only heals the skin but also provides a scar-free healing! Lavender also helps in sinus problems, and this oil can be inhaled deeply to reduce congestion.
Steps to Make Lavender Oil Here are the things you require and the procedure you should follow:
Things you will need: ◆ One big bottle of carrier oil ◆ Bunch of lavender flowers ◆ A small glass jar ◆ Rubber band ◆ Plastic cling film ◆ Strainer ◆ Saucepan ◆ Spoon Step #1: The process of making lavender oil from dried lavender plant is also possible in case you don’t have fresh lavender flowers. Take the twigs of lavender and run your fingers along the stem to take out the flowers. Collect enough flowers in this way and then fill them up in the jar. Step #2: Now, take the carrier oil in a saucepan. The quantity of the oil should be enough to fill the glass jar. Slightly warm this oil and then pour it slowly in the jar till it has nicely covered the jar. You can choose from a range of carrier oils available. The most suitable is olive oil, as it can be used for skin care and massage as well. My favorite choice of oil is jojoba oil, as it is non-greasy and gets absorbed by the skin easily. But, jojoba oil is not a preferred massage oil, as it doesn’t have the slippery effect. Another good choice for a carrier oil is almond oil, as it is good for skin care and has a high amount of vitamin E in it. Step #3: Take a piece of cling film and wrap it around the opening of the jar. Secure the plastic cling film using a rubber band. Step #4: Let this essential oil mixture steep for a month. Keep shaking the bottle lightly everyday to let all the ingredients mix well. Store the bottle in a cool and dark place. Step #5: After a month’s period, take out the jar and strain the mixture and use a spoon to press the lavender flowers to completely separate the precious oil from the flowers. Step #6: Pour this oil in an amber-colored glass bottle and close it using a cap. There you have it; your own homemade lavender oil.

Graveyard Etiquette for a Spirit Worker/Death Witch
It’s preferred to enter the graveyard with an offering, whether that offering be a bottle of wine or simply a coin. It’s only polite to the spirits who live there.
Never walk over a grave, it is beyond disrespectful and crude.
If you collect graveyard dirt, be respectful. Ask the grounds keeper first if you may plant a flower. As you plant the flower, gather some dirt. Or get the dirt from in a graveyard but not around a grave.
If you read the tombstones, be sure to say a prayer for each spirit and wish them well. This helps them cross to the other side.
Bring your memori journal, if you wish! Write down different names then go home and research the people later to keep their memories alive.
Cary a protection pouch or gem on you whole entering a graveyard. Lots of spirits may cling to you or want to, not all of them many be nice.
Do not leave more than one flower as an offering, this is considered to give you bad luck if you do otherwise.
Don’t sit or lean on tombstones, at all. No exceptions.
Tips for Hexing & Cursing
Anything Hot, Spicy, or Sour can inflict physical pain, heat, agitation, or “sourness” to the individual.
Anything you normally use for divination, dreams, or astral can be used for Illusions, Delusions, & Nightmares
Anything you use for spirit work can be used to send unhappiness, restlessness, or spirits to someone
Anything poisonous/toxic can be used to create either illness or even death.
Any number or color association you may have can be used in opposition against them.
Anything with positive aspects can be used to siphon those aspects from your target.

If you see this on your DASHBOARD please re-blog so that the previous blog knows they haven't been muted!!!
A customer came in today and said he wanted some flowers because he’s in trouble with his wife, but I could tell by the way he was smiling about it that he couldn’t wait to tell someone exactly why he’s in the doghouse.
“There’s two thing you gotta know. The first is that my neighbors are super religious and they’ve had their Christmas lights up for three months with hymns playing through the speakers. The second thing is that my wife loves those animatronic light-up deer.
“So my wife, she says ‘honey, will you put the deer out?’ And I’m like ‘yeah yeah.’ And then I see our neighbors out there with every tree lit up and their music blaring and I get an idea.
“I take the doe’s head off its hinges and I hang the body up in the tree with the head hanging down, then I find some red lights to have coming out of the body so it looks like there’s blood coming out of its neck. And then I put the two bucks next to her, looking up at the hanging body.”
A moment of silence where I can’t decide whether this guy is an inspiration or the worst husband ever.
“Anyways, that’s why I’m in the doghouse. You got any Christmas-y flowers?”
Do your research!!
I love old spells. I mean, that’s a pretty big part of being a Traditional Witch for me. That being said, old spells are not always good spells. You need to do some research when dipping into old books and folkloric spells and I have a story that really demonstrates why.
I was considering doing a spell I found in Gemma Gary’s “Traditional Witchcraft: A Cornish Book of Ways.” Gemma Gary seems like a fairly trustworthy source. On page 128, Gary gives a recipe for “Witch Oil,” which is made by combining turpentine, dragon’s blood and madder root in one container and, in a fireproof vessel heated over the coals of a fire, linseed oil, mandrake, mugwort, and vervain. The two are then combined and left to sit for six months. I thought this would be a wonderful spell for reddening the bones (as we are getting onto the dark time of year). Gary notes that this “Witch Oil” could be used to anoint the self or to anoint tools.
Well I did a bunch of research and, oddly enough, the two ingredients I knew the least about here were turpentine and linseed oil.
Now that I did a bit of reading, I sincerely hope this is an old recipe from back in the day. Because if it isn’t, it’s utterly insane. Gary writes that this oil can be used to annoint the human body. Well, both turpentine and linseed are highly caustic materials. When I looked up some images of turpentine and linseed oil cans online, they had GREAT BIG messages warning the user to avoid contact with the skin and eyes. I have known some old, grizzled men who would wipe oil off their hands with turpentine. But I ain’t one of them.
Perhaps even more seriously, linseed oil, apparently, can spontaneously combust! According to several articles online, rags and papers soaked with linseed oil can suddenly burst into flame because linseed oil heats up as it dries (so to speak, that’s not an exact explanation of the chemical process, but that’s as far into it as I want to go). And that’s a pretty big deal. It is definitely something worth knowing before working with linseed oil. This isn’t to say it can’t be used safely - it has been used for centuries. But you have to know what you are doing. And you probably shouldn’t heat it over a bed of hot coals.
I will probably create this recipe, but will swap out these potentially dangerous oils for simple kitchen oils (olive, almond, etc). The important lesson here is to do your research. When working with old spells, sometimes swapping out ingredients is not just an option to consider, but is downright mandatory. Do you research. Don’t scar yourself or burn your house down.
