atp when people write “targaryen reader,” they might as well just say the reader is white…. and that’s why it’s frustrating sometimes. because if the goal is just to write a valyrian character, there are literally so many other options : ppl from lys, volantis, the free cities, anywhere with valyrian ancestry. the world is huge. but no, it always has to be targaryen, and then people act surprised when some readers say it doesn’t feel very inclusive or they feel weirded out

the reaction is always the same: suddenly you’re the prudish one, the weird one, the one who “can’t handle incest in an incestuous family.” except that’s not even what’s happening in most of those fics. it’s not critical or exploring the darker side of it — it’s straight up romanticized.

like i’m sorry but baelor with his daughter?? maekar with his daughter?? that’s just nasty. even the targaryens themselves didn’t cross that line in canon, so why are ppl writing it like it’s normal.

and don’t even get me started on twitter because that place is on another level. i’ve literally seen people writing baelor/valarr stuff too and at that point i’m just like… y’all cannot be serious.
