{NEW O.S? COULD THIS SPELL THE END FOR V.O.S? }
So a lot of you have probably heard of the gigantic space expo that happens near the A-Galaxy like every 20UTP years right? Well the most recent expo just happened with some of new techs biggest giants, and it looks like a new company is emerging in the starnet space. For 6 years now the community of starnet has dictated the direction of V.O.S, in both bad and good ways. Now it seems like that starnet wild-west is now finally being wrangled home with the new PLUX operating system. Now you may be wondering what PLUX is and well thatâs also what I was wondering when this big olâ screen projector all of a sudden showed off a very interesting looking boot-up screen as PLUX bounced onto the screen, spelling itself with moving letters.  It was curious, and honestly I just thought that they were showing off new 3D modeling tech but no, to my surprise the creator of the first ever V.O.S system, Erin Volk, walked up onto the stage along with a couple of pals of his as they announced their new company and their new operating system. It was a shock honestly to see Erin up on the stage given his advent hate of people, but it was a nice one and it helped ease the surprise of seeing a new O.S system. Now after he walked on stage, he explained all of the cool new things, and the differences between PLUX and V.O.S, but since you readers werenât there, it falls on me to explain it. Now PLUX itself in code isnât too far off from V.O.S, if anything it can be thought of more as a V.O.S 2.0 instead of complete replacement code-wise. The only things it actually adds onto the code is a more easily customizable home-page, along with a proper taskbar and an inbuilt browser named PLUX. Now the changes themselves all seem positive, it runs better, itâs easier to find stuff and do stuff, and having a browser do all the hard work for you is much appreciated. The only issue is with the fact that this new O.S will undoubtedly bring in a more âcasual crowdâ which some people might not enjoy, which is understandable in its own rights, but for me the positives out-weigh the negatives. Another major change to the O.S system is how proper moderation works, instead of it just being relegated to the website/blog creator, it instead falls to the company itself. That means instead of having to keep up with the site 24/7 to make sure itâs still civil, you can instead have the PLUX mods look after it and keep order! It also means that a lot of the more shady (and bad) parts of the starnet will also be regulated and most likely pushed off the starnet in accordance with PSS laws. Now some people may think of this as a bad thing, as now they have someone constantly watching over them, but I donât think we should be too worried as to quote Erin himself here, âThe Starnet will remain free, itâll just be safer! The people funding us will have no say and will make no difference to your day to day activities.â, so hopefully that puts your mind to rest. Now to end this back-off, PLUX is a new O.S that runs and looks better, while also being generally safer than what came before, so to answer the question that headline asks âCould this spell the end for V.O.Sâ, I think so and honestly thatâs a good thing.
