Garden of Words (2013) - Directed by Makoto Shinkai
raybee:
i love this movie but this part always made me sorta laugh
does anyone else ever forget that men aren’t expected to shave their armpits even though they’re so hairy, and then a guy lifts his arms up and you’re actually fucking shocked because you expect there to be skin but instead you’re greeted with 2 fur trappers, 5 families of elk and an ancient civilization that’s pretty close to inventing flying cars
This !
any tips for knowing which ebay sellers are legit/have better quality when it comes to wigs? I find a lot of sellers using the same photo of a wig so its kinda concerning that I'm probably not even seeing the real wig!
Sheila’s Tips for Wig Buying on Ebay!
-Most mass sellers on Ebay all use the same photos because they are all actually selling the same manufactured wig –MOST. Some do it because their lazy. When looking for sellers, look for one that has pictures of the wig ON A STAND. (A generic model is okay too, but NOT cosplayers) but the biggest key is that they have SEVERAL photos of the wig in different angles. If you scroll down and they have various pictures in the description, thats a good sign!
-Another great tip off is watermarks. If the ebay store has their logo on the photo, and I mean a logo and not like MSpaint type, haha, then its a good sign. -CHECK THE REVIEWS. I can’t stress that enough. Check the reviews, how many do they have? (You want four digit numbers). How many positive reviews (it should be a majority.) -Specifically check the bad reviews. Most have a detail of what went wrong and it gives you an idea of what you could be potentially dealing with. So if all their bad reviews are on the quality, or appearance – thats their main problem. If its all about the shipping time– thats the risk you may have to deal with. Make sure you are ready to deal with the issues others have reported if you are set on that seller. -Return policy!!! Make sure THEY HAVE ONE. Not having one is a BIG NO NO. Most sellers have one, READ IT. Because sometimes they offer exchanges but no refunds. :( And some won’t take it back if the tags are cut, etc etc. -What else do they sell? Do they only sell wigs (this is great!) Wigs and cosplay stuff (good sign!) Wigs and hardware products and house items (hmm… maybe not.) -There are some well known, verified stores with their own pictures, wig only stores with great prices. My favorites are CharissaKids, CosplayAnimeWigs, Cosmonde, WigFashion, and JCPunk-Talk to your seller!! You’d be surprised how quick and nice they can be. Several times I’ve contacted them asking for more pictures in different light or with questions about shipping time (usually they offer me expediated for a higher price, which is handy when your late). I’m always answered. Don’t be afraid to get to know the product before you buy. Especially if you are on a deadline.
Old news but...
This scene from Back to the Barn caught my attention recently.
Everyone’s already talked about the implications this means for Pearls back on home world but what I feel like people seemed to miss, or perhaps interpret different than me are Pearls facial expressions.
Sure there is embarrassment, as made obvious by her blushing. I’m sure everyone took note of it and it is important. But I want to draw attention to the fact that when Peridot makes this comment
Pearl gets angry. Then when Peridot goes even further and adds
“Then what are you for?”
Pearl is not just embarrassed. Shes HORRIFIED. Peridot just reminded her of what it was like to be nothing except as a belonging. She had no purpose other than what her owner decided for her. No wonder she’s so harsh on herself.
oh, here I am
this is the most relatable post I’ve run into on this site
honestly feeling so attacked right now
How Pink Diamond was shattered
It’s all coming together.
So lets start off with this.
This is what started the rebellion, the first act of treason from Rose Quartz, but here’s the thing, we’ve already seen the scene directly after the act of poofing pink diamond. (I specified ‘poofing’ and not ‘shattering’ for a reason, bare with me)
This is it. Right here.
If you’ve watched Rose’s Scabbard as many times as I have (so many, too many) then you know how this scene goes.
Rose: “Pearl, I’m going to stay and fight for this planet.”
This dialogue is so, so important. They’ve reached a breaking point (ha) here. Something that Rose just did has pushed them both into needing to make a choice. There’s no going back. Rose chooses to stay.
It’s important to notice her expressions here.
The first thing that strikes me is that for a few frames she’s looking away from Pearl, looking back. What exactly is she looking at? The evidence of what she’s just done? Pink Diamond’s Gem?
But it’s her eyes that really do it for me.
She looks haunted.
Then the urgency of the situation comes in through the dialogue, and here’s why I think this just happened.
Rose: “You don’t have to do this with me.” Pearl: “But I want to!” Rose: “I know you do. Please, please understand, if we lose we’ll be killed, and if we win, we can never go home.”
She’s done something punishable by death, so she gives Pearl the option of leaving. She still has time to give Pearl the option of leaving.
This, if nothing else is proof that Homeworld doesn’t know that Pink Diamond has been poofed yet, that the act of treason has just been committed. They are the only gems who know what has happened, we know this because not only does Eyeball confirm that there were witnesses to Pink Diamond’s shattering but, in the beginning of “The Answer” when Pearl and Rose first attack, the Ruby guards can be heard crying out:
“Who are you?!” “Show yourselves!”
At that point all Homeworld knew was that there was a rebellion, they didn’t know who had rebelled, who attacked Pink Diamond.
Back to Rose’s Scabbard.
If Pearl returns to Homeworld now it’ll be without consequence, she won’t be blamed because nobody knows what just happened, Pearl can lie, claim no involvement, anything. Rose knows this, tries to protect her by offering her a means of escape. (It’s obvious by her body language, her hesitation, and her resignation that she wants Pearl to stay but she would never ask that of her, but that’s another post entirely ;D )
Pearl declines, of course.
(Rose looks so relieved and happy and ajshgjakhgs)
We’ve just witnessed the start of the rebellion and the birth of the Crystal Gems.
Now this. This is where and how Pink Diamond was shattered.
The rebellion is underway, a thousand year war. The Crystal Gems are outnumbered, outgunned, and it all comes to a head in the strawberry battlefield where it seems that White Diamond has been sent in to finish them off once and for all.
This mural has always reminded me of something straight out of Sailor Moon.
And I believe the same scenario played out here. The odds were stacked against them, they were facing total defeat. So Rose, like Usagi, uses her last resort, her strongest weapon.
In this case, that’s Pink Diamond’s Gem.
And this is what happens.
She never meant to shatter her.
BJD Confession Blog Boycott
I haven’t ever written anything about the confession blogs because I would really prefer not to paint a target on my back, but here goes:
I feel like the confession blogs have gotten out of hand, and are damaging to the community. Full stop.
I am proposing a boycott of these blogs - which means no ‘confessing’, no liking comments, and no reblogging.
Even if it’s only me, that’s fine. But if you’d like to join me, I would appreciate the solidarity.
I recognize that this will not stop the confession blogs or change the nature of the confessions there. But I can only hope that the people I respect and admire will be willing to commit to not being a part of it.
I used to like the confession blog, but now I can't read it without cringing at all of the hateful confessions. It's a toxic breeding ground for hate and drama, and I don't think we need that in this hobby any longer
Don’t look at me like that! I have to go to work.. 😭😭😭😭😭
