I'm an absolute sucker for clingy zoro, so here's some wholesome zosan brainrot
zoro will go and sleep in the kitchen when he knows sanji's there because he likes the sound of him moving around
while sanji's doing something that requires staying in one spot a while(e.g. washing dishes), zoro will just sit behind him and rest his head on his shoulder
likewise he'll find sanji sitting and just lie down in his lap for a catnap
sometimes he just sits in his lap and fall asleep, hugging like a koala, which means sanji just carries him around whenever he needs to move
they go shopping together when there's too much food and because zoro gets lost so much he will grab onto sanji's jacket when it gets too crowded
sanji will hold or fidget with zoro's fingers because he knows it helps him fall asleep
after a long and tiring battle sanji will insist all of them take showers but zoro never actually washes himself he just soaks in the water, so sanji just goes in to wash him wish soap and shampoo properly
(bonus↑)zoro would never say it out load but he loves being taken care of, especially having his hair washed
Tryna get back into drawing work has been hectic
the rise of conservatism and gen z puritanism while still simultaneously trying to be hip and woke is so annoying because you have these people saying "match my freak" and then they get mad at ageplay and petplay and cnc and somno and anything raunchier than a pair of fuzzy handcuffs. you're not a "freak" if you think having a fetish is synonymous with being evil

They also have an animal one that I linked a whole back on the same site !
Luffy in that one panel:
I see a lot of casual trans Zoro art and headcanons which is cool and vibes but I feel like we're missing the opportunity to think about how cool specifically ftm Zoro would be as an actual major plot point specifically the way One Piece handles stuff. So here's my headcanon for how it would fit into the story:
Zoro who always just knew he was a boy. Zoro who introduced himself to Kuina and the dojo as a boy because puberty hadn't hit so nobody could tell the difference. Kuina who told him he'd end up better than her no matter what because he was male. Zoro who snapped back that he was born the same as her and he's going to be the best anyway, removing her excuse and inspiring her to keep trying.
The promise is the same.
Kuina still dies. Zoro still inherits her sword. Her father doesn't know Zoro's secret.
As his time at the dojo goes on, he starts binding. It gets harder to hide, and it's not healthy for exercising. His voice isn't lowering the way a teenage boy's is supposed to. But he keeps up, because he will be the greatest swordsman, and he will do it even with a body people don't believe is capable of it.
When he gets older he learns that there are medicines and surgeries some people get to change themselves. He wants that, if he's honest. It would make things so much easier. But he decides to wait. As part of his promise to Kuina, carrying her spirit with him, he vows to become the greatest swordsman in the body of a woman.
At some point, though, Koushirou knows something is up, and figures out that Zoro is (in his eyes) a "girl." He feels betrayed, his pride injured, having poured so much into training his prized student only to find out he inevitably will be weak as an adult. He had even considered having Zoro inherit leadership of the dojo, and now those plans are wasted. He confronts Zoro angrily, seeing no irony in the fact that both he and Kuina were always the best in the dojo, because his misogyny runs too deep to change his view now. He refuses to keep training Zoro unless he "admits he's a girl and trains accordingly."
Zoro is furious and devastated, but he won't give up his goal or pretend to be someone he's not, even if it costs him acceptance and mentorship. He rejects Koushirou's ultimatum, and sets out to sea, starting his bounty hunter career just like in canon.
When Luffy meets him, he doesn't question who he is at all. Honestly he doesn't even pick up on anything different. Nami notices, but keeps it to herself. Usopp just kind of assumes Zoro is younger than he is based on the voice.
Sanji, however, thinks something is weird about Zoro from the start, and it drives him crazy. He acts like a man in every annoying brutish way, he certainly smells like one, but his body and voice seem different? And why does he exercise SO MUCH? Sanji has not unpacked any of his own gender issues at all and is incredibly rude about it, pestering Zoro until he finally explains it to him like he's five. Sanji is shocked, and asks without a hint of self-awareness, "Why would you WANT to be a man when you could be a beautiful woman??"
Zoro files that fascinating thought away for later knowing there's no way they can unpack it right now, and just asserts, "I AM a man. It's none of your business why. It's just how I've always been. And if you have a problem, you can fight me about it."
Sanji has some self-reflection to do, but eventually sort of settles himself into the reality that Zoro is a man in every way that matters. Everyone else accepts him as such, and while he might not understand, the way Zoro interacts with the world certainly doesn't feel womanly. So he continues to swoon over Nami and Robin, and fights with Zoro just like in canon. They're evenly matched, and he begins to enjoy their rivalry.
The rest of canon doesn't need much alteration unless we're exploring trans/genderqueer Sanji, but that's an entire post in itself. Basically part of Zoro's dream is that one day he'll have the body he wants, as well as the title. It might seem controversial to have a trans character intentionally wait on medically transitioning just to prove something, but I view Zoro as someone for whom medically transitioning is secondary, almost cosmetic. He's confident in himself as a man regardless. And some kind of hard-line dramatic promise like that is perfectly on brand for him. I also think it honors Kuina's legacy by really proving that it could've been either of them, and the difference between man and woman isn't important when it comes to great swordsmanship.
It would also add another somewhat funny layer to the interactions with Tashigi, who fully assumes Zoro is being sexist and he never gets the chance to explain that 1. that wouldn't make logical sense and 2. SHE LOOKS LIKE HIS DEAD BEST FRIEND OK??
Anyway that's the gist of it. Feel free to add thoughts.
It's always so funny when Mihawk gets grouped in with "One Piece Villains"
like the man has literally just been vibing the entire time??? It's not HIS fault he sailed to The Baratie for a hot dish of world-class shrimp scampi and some random 19-year-old jackass told him to square up
sometimes i try to do more zoro meta posts and it just ends up sounding like nonsense because essentially all i want to do is scream HE’S SO STUPID AND RECKLESS AND KIND AND CARING AND SILLY AND SERIOUS AND LOYAL AND STRONG AND AWKWARD AND SWEET AND I LIKE HIM SO MUCH.
Zoro's bathing habits!
Hey everyone, wanna share some deets on Zoro's bathing habits!
(I shared this info in the ZS Discord the other day. If you saw it, yep, that was me who wrote it. Back then, I wasn’t really used to posting stuff on social media, but today I figure I can post it on Tumblr too—hoping more people get to see this.)
First, quick cultural note: In Japanese, シャワー (shower) = quick rinse, while 風呂 (furo) = soaking in a tub—way more formal and time-consuming.
Back in Volume 67's SBS, a fan asked about the crew's bathing frequency. The original question mentioned the latter 風呂(furo), stating: "In 654, Chopper says, "I wiped my body the day before yesterday," and declines Nami's invitation to take a 風呂furo bath, right? I'm also curious about the Straw Hats' bathing habits." So Oda's answer likely refers to how often the crew takes a 風呂furo (bathtub bath) per week.
Then in One Piece Magazine No. 18(page 65)—it says Zoro trains nonstop (even when others chill/eat snacks!) and sweats a ton. The magazine uses a typical SBS-style question here: "Does he only take a showerシャワー , or does he also soak in the bathtub?" It then adds, "Taking a bath風呂(furo) is part of routine after training too." Fanfics usually stick to what’s in the SBS from Volume 67, but I think it’s time for that to change—Zoro's the guy who bathes right after working out.😂
The Japanese expression is a bit ambiguous, but one thing’s for sure—Zoro definitely takes a showerシャワー after working out, and soaking in a tub風呂 (furo) is also one of his options.
English isn't my first language, so idk if there's already convo about this—I haven't seen any tho.
Noticed this because I’m a Zosan shipper—and every time I see fanfics mention Zoro’s bathing frequency, I can’t help but feel sorry for Sanji. So I wanted to sort out some of the issues caused by cultural differences here. Like I said, I hope other Zosan shippers notice this, which is why I added Zosan-related tags. Fingers crossed it doesn’t bother anyone. Also, I made translations for SBS and One Piece Magazine NO.18 stuff. (Rn I only have the magazine on me—the pic is one I took. The SBS info is from this site: https://onepiece-log.com/blog-entry-1397.html)
Usopp and Zoro's bond is so underrated!!
Its a short walk back to the ship,, if you have to walk at all. 🍻
jkjkk & FURTHERMORE the omegaverse IS inherently political!! you’re working with a biological framework that’s unevenly distributed & flirts with civil rights - yeah sure whatever the rutting’s fine BUT you can’t just drop that in without discussing the economical & sociological ramifications!! you could have civil wars! you could have underground factions! you could have the intricacies of an international scent database!! what about access to education & housing & unionisation!! how does the a/b/o dynamic affect fashion & architecture!! & you just want them to fuck????
i said this like 2 hours ago & here i am still thinking about the Ramifications…. the things is, biology is & always has been rooted in politics & you knowww secondary genders shape not just individual lives but the entire scaffolding of law & economy & warfare & culture, like damn. biology shifts social scaffolding all the time, it can’t not bleed into etiquette… fabric….. bricks….. even the shape of the skyline…….
anyway sorry i said that about you omegaverse i wasn’t familiar with your game. turns out a/b/o is just political sci-fi on crack
i am aware that i said this only 2 days ago however i regret to admit this has started something in my brain & ariana we’re really in it now
it’s just that [clenches fist] when biology is legislated then autonomy evaporates…. the ideological conflict….. it’s civil rights 101…. we’re talking entire societies built on biology & instinct & the hierarchies enforced by them & once you start pulling on those threads the whole abo verse becomes a battlefield of competing values & power systems & ethical dilemmas….. & a very robust public transport system….
if you write zoro like an abusive controlling husband and sanji like his trapped 1950's housewife just know I am in your house putting sand in your bedsheets
The thing about zosan as a ship is that while I think there really could be a really compelling dynamic there, it gets so watered down in top/bottom, girl/boy, tiny slut waist/giant himbo, sub/dom type discourse that the real points of interest get lost. It’s the most popular one piece ship by a very large margin (it has twice as many fics on AO3 than the second most popular ship, which is lulaw btw), but a lot of content for their ship is based on other fan content and it’s become a weird echo chamber of distorted characterization and overused tropes that has created an unrecognizable depiction of the relationship between the two of them. The amount of fics I’ve seen that explicitly state that the writer either has never watched/read one piece, or haven’t watched/read it since they were small is like… soooo crazy to me!
I think it is related to a bigger fandom issue of like. Creating fan content, not for community, but for clout. Zosan is super popular right now. Many people want the engagement. But I think when we keep writing fics about Sanji crying about Zoro wanting to marry him, and then getting topped with his legs above his head and Zoro’s hands are so big and Sanji’s waist is so small and how is Zoro going to fit in Sanji’s tiny body and Sanji is being treated like the princess he’s wanted to be since momoiro and Zoro is the only big burly man that can give that to him I just like… I have to wonder if we’ve read the same story.
Zoro and Sanji are kind of two sides of a coin. Zoro is all bushido and honor and discipline, while Sanji is emotionality and intuition and empathy. They balance each other. But!! That doesn’t mean that Sanji isn’t able to stand his own ground or that Zoro can’t be kind or silly. It seems like Sanji is always in distress and Zoro is always being the brick shithouse that protects him. They really and truly support each other pretty equally. And Sanji talks a lot of shit, but at the end of the day he really does care about Zoro and he always has, and it’s the same for Zoro. But I really don’t think either of them would choose each other over the rest of the crew. They may have a different kind of relationship to each other, but not one that supersedes the others. And why does Zoro always get to be the “man”??? They’re pirates! Why would they care about that sort of thing! Lmao.
DIVA DOWN!!!!!
Oda if you can hear me please make it so when one piece ends we get a scene where an older Sanji has a locket and he’s like “ah yes, I keep my beloved always with me here <3” and he opens it up and it’s. Girl Zoro. This is a different character from Zoro but looks exactly like him but as a girl.
The amount of people it will confuse and piss off may actually break the internet.
