Day 102
I’ve been meaning to draw @xmoon1’s coquette Boombox for a while,,,,, he’s so darling,,,,,,,,,
"THERE YOU FREAKIN' ARE— ... uh..." Minus trailed off seeing a pink haired feminine person instead of the Conductor.
They pointed at the stranger "Yo... Who's you?" Minus' ahoge morphed into what was meant to be a question mark.
In the bunker's garden was tranquility. The air was only filled by the soft whirr of vents and the silent beating of plant life.
Until Minus barged in...
Kara jumped from where they were standing, dropping the cut-off leaves and scissors they were holding. Their head snapped to look at Minus with wide-shot eyes and shrunken mouth.
"Ah—" they stumbled over words as they stood straight. "I–I'm Kara... You, uhm– you look like you're new here..?“
"Wait, wait–" Kara shook their head, "sorry that sounded rude," and fixed their expression to be calmer. "W–What's your name?"
"I'm the conductors child, Minus!! Well... Self-proclaimed child– But ya get the point!!" Minus shook their hand dismissively, their ahoge returning back to normal. "Y'know the conductor, right? Pretty like a woman, but isn't a woman?"
They made a show of looking around their new environment, "Cause I dunno 'bout you, but I legit cannot imagine that dude being here out of his own free will! Don't - don't tell him that, though. I will know if you do and might have to delete you!" Minus put their hands on their hips, blissfully unaware of how threatening those words were.
"Oh yeah, my question! Where's Mon Papa at?"
Kara blinked. 'The Conductor?' 'Pretty like a woman, but isn't a woman?' They genuinely weren't sure what the person was talking about, as there were a couple of men that fit that descriptor in Kara's eyes.
Either way, this situation wasn't any less nerve-wracking than it is confusing.
They dry gulped the irrational nerves before speaking, "w-well. I really don't know who you're talking about... We don't know someone who calls himself 'The Conductor' in this bunker."
"A-Any more details..?"
Minus clicked their tongue like they were scolding a child (even though technically speaking, THEY were the child). "He's like, THIS tall! Black, totally braidable hair, looks hella depressed or something..." Minus continued describing him, making grandiose gestures to further prove their point.
"You cannot tell me he's not here! The teleportation command literally sent me here! So he's gotta be around here!" They insisted, stomping their foot impatiently. "I want my dad!!" They complained, their ahoge got spiky. "I WANT HIM NOW!!!"
Kara took one step back out of fear, nearly tripping over themselves on the divider of soil and concrete. The stranger's insistence and increasing aggression did nothing to help their heart and mind.
The descriptors whittled down the people it could be, sure, but the other's behaviour gave the nurse pause on if they should even further disclose what they knew.
"I—" they choked out, feeling the dryness of their mouth as they involuntarily gulped shut. 'don't know...' died on their tongue.
But before Minus could possibly escalate, Kara appeared even more frightened.
There was a hand's weight on Minus' shoulder.
"Who the hell are you?"
The tall, auburn-haired woman imposed, bloodlust seemed to radiate from her naturally. Her grip on the smaller entity's shoulder grew firm, but not physically threatening... yet.
Kara stuttered, "B–Bernadette—! Please don't do anything brash to that visitor!" stepping a few small paces forward in worry.
Bernadette kept her eyes trained on Minus, but talked to the nurse; "it didn't hurt you, did it?"
"N-No! They were just asking me something!"
"Auntie..." the bigger woman let go of her grasp. She grunted, "you better not be lying to me for another rat's sake." Bloodlust vanished from her visage.
"Wha— It?? Rat??? What the hell?" Minus wiped their shoulder where Bernadette's hand had been seconds ago, stepping away from her.
"Don't just call me that?? What's wrong with you??" In their desperation of wanting to find their 'dad', they did not pay attention to how potentially offending their words could be.
"Seriously, I just want to find ONE person! ONE. PERSON!! Why are you lying to me? I know you know where he is!!" They continued their tantrum, tugging their side-bangs in stress. "I want my dad!! I won't go until I see him! Where is he!! WHERE IS HE!!!" Their voice slightly cracked from when they held themself back from crying.
The thing was getting on Bernadette's nerves, and it didn't help that she could smell it's clothes— she knew where those clothes came from. Her bloodlust rose again, but restrained herself from reaching out.
"Whoever you're fuckin' talking about, clearly this guy isn't here if pink hair there hasn't peeped about it yet—"
Wait.
The smell of magic on their clothes, the use of 'he'...
And how this rat was chirping on about 'him' being here...
Something clicked in her head. She couldn't contain it.
Bernadette put Minus' arm in a vice grip and dragged them out of the garden without the care of harm. Leaving the caretaker in sudden panicked worry.
"Bernadette!"
The malice radiated off of her in waves; THIS THING KNOWS SOMETHING. THIS THING KNOWS SOMETHING. THIS THING KNOWS SOMETHING. THIS THING KNOWS SOMETHING. HE'S HERE. HE'S HERE. HE'S HERE. HE'S HERE—
Bernadette snapped her head towards Minus as she continued to drag the poor visitor to the residential part of the bunker. Her pupils were blown out like a fixated animal. She chuckled; "Now, you're going to tell me which guy is your 'papa'. Okay? You're gonna cooperate and I won't send you ragged on the streets. Okay?"
God, was it really that easy? He's here, in her territory, so carelessly and blissfully unaware. Even one of his "children" came crying for daddy. Thank god. Thank god they did. She could finally kill that bastard—
Unbeknownst to Bernadette, a certain caretaker was coming after. Her fixation blinded her to the person's presence.
Minus wiped the tears that threatened to fall with their free hand, confused at the lady's sudden willingness. "You'd help me find him...?" Even then, Minus wasn't dumb. Something about Bernadette made them not want her to help them.
But at the same time, it was their chance to see the Conductor again! "Uhm... Thanks? I would... Like that??" Minus hesitantly said, somehow not tripping over their own feet despite Bernadette's rather fast walking speed.
"THERE YOU FREAKIN' ARE— ... uh..." Minus trailed off seeing a pink haired feminine person instead of the Conductor.
They pointed at the stranger "Yo... Who's you?" Minus' ahoge morphed into what was meant to be a question mark.

"Jeez, I wonder what happened here..."
The person in white adjusted their hold onto the unconscious man. Though he was heavy, they were fit enough to carry most of him.
'Unconsciousness... dryness of the lips... frequent stomach activity... scabbing on his knuckles... Seriously, it's a little scary that this guy was at the cemetery gate. I've never seen him before.'
They would stumble a little at infrequent intervals as they carried him. But they continued on all the same.
'I'll have to ask Juan to I.D. him later when he gets back from travel.'
'For now...'
To the bunker they went.
