I know a lot of people on Jumblr who aren't already living in Israel talk about moving there and I figure I should mention that if you have a trust or your parents have a trust of which you're a beneficiary, or your estate plan is set up to form a trust, you might want to talk to an Israeli estate planning attorney and or CPA before you become subject to their tax laws. And if its your parents' estate, then they should have their lawyers collaborate with an Israeli attorney to figure out how to best distribute your portion. Israel doesn't do trusts the way the U.S. does, and it taxes things differently. Their probate system also won't process things properly if your will tries to create a trust, unless it's being held for a minor child, and even then it still works differently than an American one would.
Also you'll need a new power of attorney, because American ones won't necessarily work.
So yeah, if you've decided to move to Israel and all your financial things are also going with you, add updating your estate planning documents at the same time to your list of tasks.
Good luck!
