✶⋆.˚ More about my blog :
⋆⟢ I'll likely post from all sorts of fandoms, but the ones I'm most into as of recently are: TWST, OM!, HxH, MLP: FiM, Furuba, and Pokémon
⋆⟢ I do digital and traditional art alongside occasional poetry and fiction. I used to do it a lot more often but since my executive function has declined over the years, I draw less and less. I'm hoping with this blog I can improve my art and make more of it! A lot of it will likely be fanart or art of my OCs.
⋆⟢ Headcanons and rambles will also be quite common. (Note: I'm not much of a shipper, so there will probably little to no shipping content on my blog.)
⋆⟢ Anyone bringing any sort of bigotry or support for ethical atrocities (e.g. pedophilia, zoophilia, animal abuse, etc.) to my blog will be blocked.

Headcanon that because relatively many merfolk species (like some irl aquatic creatures) experience hermaphroditism, the concepts of “gender” and “sexuality” in accordance to sex aren’t super big in the Coral Sea.
Subsequently, most languages spoken in the Coral Sea have only one set of pronouns.
This isn’t to say gender isn’t a present concept at all, it simply does not have the same social-categorical weight as it does amongst terrestrial folk.
The social categories in the Coral Sea that are observed in place of gender and sexuality are related to sub-species and trophic level. This is possible due to the often vast differences in biology between different types of merfolk that aren’t found in more homogeneous species like humans.
My thoughts on the new Caleb 5-Star (Imperial Thronesong).
TW: Talk of fictional incest
I get that they’re an allegory to Adam and Eve, but is actual incest really necessary? I feel conflicted bc it’s not anything condemnable since it’s all fiction and it’s not like Caleb wasn’t already a freak, but… eurgh.
Though I’ve never been into Caleb because of the pseudo-incest, for some reason, the pseudo-incest felt more acceptable to me even though it’s just as ethically corrupt. I see a lot of people feeling similarly to me and I realize feeling grossed out only now is a bit hypocritical but IDK… I just feel like the basic themes got across well enough without Caleb being MC’s actual blood-related brother, enough that I could still kind of see some fantastical romance (particularly post-explosion).
Now it just seems fucked-up, since incest isn’t very “natural” in modern society and is often the result of abuse. The toxicity is salient where it was previously ambiguous*. It makes it hard to root for Caleb and MC as a couple, which would be fine if LaDS weren’t primarily a romance game. (Though, maybe LaDS really is just a vessel for kinks and smut and the romance has never been the point.)
I think there’s an argument to be made about “dark romance” being called “romance” rather than what it really is, which (imo) often is salacious thriller/psychological horror. There’s nothing immoral about enjoying that sort of genre, but I think that it would be wrong to romanticize it by literally calling it romance.
I’m hoping it’s just for this one AU and an issue of translation, as I don’t think being “from the same source”—should it mean some kind of artificial conception literally from the same source, blinking into existence via the same god, and/or merely growing up together and sharing past experiences/memories—necessarily entails a familial bond.
I just wanted to talk about it. I don’t have a absolute opinion on it, though. Since this is all fictional, it isn’t worth getting too worked up about. If there’s anyone to be upset at, be upset at Infold.
* (To my understanding from my 1 year of college mandarin classes... 哥哥 isn’t used only for biological elder brothers, but also for any older male friend or even strangers, more casual than 先生. Caleb using 妹妹 for MC is similar. This is why I felt like them having a familial bond rather than purely platonic was somewhat ambiguous.)
NOTE: in my version of NRC students take six classes per semester along with either a seminar or study hall (or 12 classes plus one seminars per year)! Italics = single-semester long

This is all for fun so I can't promise it all aligns with canon. I don't mind feedback to make these better and I love hearing other people's headcanons! I figure I'll mostly post headcanons until I get around to making sprites for my TWST OCs and other art that I feel is good enough to post. <3
