Follow up to the AU in which Din accidentally takes an alien home from his Area 51 job
Din stared at the little green alien that was all too comfortably sitting in his back seat, half under the jacket he'd tossed back there. Its ears were probably the same size as the rest of its body, and its eyes made up most of its head.
He was thoroughly screwed.
He had no idea how the little bugger had gotten out of whatever containment the government had put it in and into his car.
There were two options now. He could go back to base, where he wasn't even supposed to be for a month, and hopefully not get decked trying to return the little thing. Or he could take it home. The second option had a slightly smaller chance of him dying.
Din sighed and pulled out his phone, scrolling through his contacts till he found the one he was looking for.
He chewed on his bottom lip for a moment before pressing call and waiting for the other to pick up.
"Heyyy Cyar'ika" His husband's voice came over the phone, a familiar comfort. "Are you on your way home?"
"yes meshla, I'm on my way home." Din looked back at the little alien again. "Hey Luke, you know how you've been asking for another pet?"
"yes. Oh are you bringing home another cat? Artoo could really use a friend" Luke responded, a smile practically in his tone.
"not exactly" Din wasn't sure how to breach the subject. "It's more like a child."
Luke was quiet for a moment. "Is it an alien?"
Din sighed, hoping he wasn't about to get divorced. "Yes, it's an alien"
There was another pause, and Din couldn't help but feel nervous about what Luke could be thinking. Finally Luke responded. "I'm naming it Grogu."
Din's mouth twitched upwards into a smile. "Alright. I'll see you in a few hours cyar'ika." He hung up as Luke startled mumbling to himself about what the hell was an alien child supposed to eat. Everything would be fine, probably.
