no but like i’m obsessed with caerdroia because. even when you try to separate the contradictory aspects of the doctor’s personality, you can’t! even the cheerful, naïve doctor is still capable of being sly and conniving, as the responsible doctor says, and should not be underestimated. the nasty doctor, the part of them most capable of cold, ruthless acts, still utterly cares for charley and is obviously concerned about her in the clock. the same version then mentally torturing kro’ka and then saying to the other, “don’t go all morally-superior on me, i’m part of you, remember that.” and the cheerful doctor simply replying “yes, i’m afraid you are.” even when literally physically separated you cannot carve up these disparate parts of their personality! they are two (three?) sides of the same coin! the doctor does have a smile and silliness that’s covering up deep-rooted questionable morality. but they’re also just sometimes dipping into that morally-ambiguous side from a core place of decency and appreciation. and also they have a responsible balance between the two. none of them are any more the true doctor than another. they’re all true, all at once.

Finished watching 13 for the second time ever, and for the first time since watching classic who and my opinion has changed wildly. She is much more like the classic doctors than anyone else from nuwho. I can admit she has a couple of slow episodes but most of them I enjoyed thoroughly. They have the same quirk as 4’s episodes, but she resembles 2 a bit more. She’s very similar to 2 and 5, but also unique to herself. Choosing to not acknowledge the opinions of anyone who doesn’t watch classic from now on. Had people convinced she was doctor who’s 9/11 when actually she’s the goat

We try because we have to believe that even when the ending is set in stone, it’s still worth trying. It’s still better to be a person who tried.
something i adore about hadestown is that it still meant something, y'know what i mean? like okay, no orpheus's song did not convince hades to give up his empire. hades' love for persephone isn't enough to deconstruct the machine he's built and has convinced himself that he needs in order to protect what he has. but he let them go. he saw the love eurydice and orpheus had for one another and it convinced him to let them try. orpheus may have turned around but they still walked, they almost made it. doubt set it but they were right there. that's further than anyone else can say. nobody else had made it that far. who's to say someone else can't make it a few steps further? persephone is able to leave the underworld and go home again when she needs to. spring has come again, if we're lucky autumn just might too. will this change be permanent? we don't know. but it's something. it doesn't knock down the wall but it's one brick out of it. and that means something. it wasn't all for nothing. it's a crack in the wall. there's a reason we keep singing this old song.
