When you forget you have it on shuffleā¦.
Praying for the woman Iāll be in 5+yrs I hope sheās happy, and loved, living life unapologetically, doing what she loves.
do you ever just wanna sit next to someone and listen to everything they could possibly say about anything ever just because you like their face and their voice and their general existenceĀ
In times of grief, initially, I thinkĀ āI am okayā. I donāt necessarily try to put up a front so people think I am strong. However, I do try to keep it together. Somehow grief always wins. And this grief took me by surprise.
He was someone I saw every day at school. He was a year behind me, studying the same major. He was in my tutoring group and in classes I was a teaching assistant for. I cannot say we were best friends, I am not sure we would have even called each other friends. But whenever we saw each other, whether in the hallways of health science building, or out at the local bar, there was this genuine sense of care.Ā
He had a heart of gold, and the smile that welcomed everyone. He was always, and I mean always, helping someone. Whether it be a service project, a mission trip, evenĀ a small act of kindness. He encouraged and believed in others with true sincerity.Ā
When I found out he had passed away, I was in shock. It canāt be true I thought to myself, all day, I thought it was some horrific dream. This person who I saw every day, this person who was so immensely involved around campus. My aunt asked, did you have many classes with him? I began to say no. Then broke down because I was saddened that I hadnāt gotten to know him outside of our occasionalĀ āhelloā andĀ āhow are youāās, and realizing how empty campus would be without him. I grieve for his family, for his girlfriend, for his friends, for all the people he has made an impact on. I felt guilt for not attending the funeral because I wasnāt a close friend and thought my presence would be awkward surrounded by those who knew him far better than myself. There are no words that can comfort the loss, but I pray for peace for everyone. I am sad and a little angry that this world will no longer be graced with such a kind human being. However, I am grateful for those shared helloās and the honor to know such a wonderful person.Ā
does someone else want to make adult decisions for me? because i feel incapable to do so... also i keep having dreams about losing my teeth, which apparently means i feel like i have no control. so thatās cool.Ā
to be young and in love in new york city š¤
You know, the more I watch Forged in Fire, the more I really appreciate bladesmiths. Like yeah, youāve got 3 hours to make a blade out of whatever steel thatās provided, and you have all these conditions to be met, and then these guys bang out knives and make it look EASY. And it sure as hell isnāt, so mad props to them. And after that, youāve gotta shape your blade to fix any mistakes, and make a handle, and hope like hell it survives the (completely brutal) tests that these judges will literally throw at it. Iāve seen blades be shot at, chopped into ice, into bone, into tatami mats, into fish, and come out fine. And sometimes they donāt. But itās FUN. Itās FUN to watch. And itās especially fun to see what historical weapon gets to be made at the end. Some of them Iāve never even heard of, like the Naginata, or the Tabar-Shispar. No, Iām not making these names up, google them if you donāt believe me.
The skill, the craftmanship, and justā¦everything in general, I fucking love this show. Plus, when someone loses, they donāt cry about it, they donāt whine, they donāt badmouth their competitors. They leave with dignity and their heads held high. They say āWell I agree with the decision, I know where I fucked up, but this aināt gonna break me, Iāmma keep making knives and get even better, this was a great experience.ā What I have learned from this show is: A) Donāt freaking quench in water, this is bad, your blade has a higher chance of cracking, so use oil instead. B) Some of the materials used to make handles is just downright crazy. C) Doug Marcaida has the BEST job. D) Overheating your blade is bad, try not to do that. E) All the judges know their shit, and all the judges have fun whether theyāre watching or testing. F) Someone is always, ALWAYS going to have a beard. There has not been one episode where someone doesnāt have a beard, and the bearded guys are usually the ones whoāve been doing it the longest, and will cheerfully say āoh yeah, Iāve burnt my beard before.ā and G) Lady bladesmiths may be rare, but when they show up, they fucking kick ass, no matter when they go home. In conclusion, watch Forged in Fire. Itās a very good show.
Iāve always done martial arts, but I never focused on weapons. It was the one thing I hated, because I was afraid of it. But later on I understood that you might as well face your biggest fear - and knives were my biggest fear. [x]
so adult life is approaching awfully fast, and iām nervous but quite excited too... anxious for major changes, but open to new opportunities and hopefully adventures... ahhh. how is one supposed to feel as they cross the bridge into adulthood... or have i been in adulthood? who knows.Ā
there she goes again, daydreaming about her future house and how sheāll decorate it knowing she canāt afford a house in this economy ever. and by she i mean me.
