knitting goals for this year, besides increasing my skill in general and breaking away from blankets, even though i like making those: 1) finish 2 blankets so i can get them washed and then mailed to their respective recipients. and probably make notes on future ones because i have no self control and a lot of yarn. at least baby blankets are always needed. should look into making baby things in general, maybe hospitals or project linus? 2) attempt rugs, I didn't get those books for nothing. [update: as it turns out, most blanket patterns can be adapted to rugs as well! so i've started fiddling with what could be either a bathmat or a small rug in general.] 3) finish the scarf I started, and maybe start a 2nd one, i did tell my aunt i'd make her one. by the time i actually get to it though, the weather will probably be cold again. [update: aunt's scarf will take forever and thus is on hold, since the pattern she picked up has SIXTEEN ROWS AAAAAAA WHY DID I LET HER CHOOSE THE PATTERN AAAAAAAAA. at least it's not terribly complicated? just long. weh. thank you so woolly for always having cool patterns.] 4) finish the shawl I started. I'd like to give that one to my grandma at least. 5) figure out either intarsia or fair isle, 'cause color work is so pretty and i wanna be able to do more than stripes, dammit. and cables, although i think a quick refresher on those will solve that, i swear i've done them before. 6) figure out plushies, 'cause those are cute too and I really wanna make an emotional support chicken. 7) eventually order from purl soho again, that sunday dinner towel kit looks lovely. 8) get the hang of hats and socks. I have a perfectly good hat kit that i wanna use, and socks are a different beast altogether. i'll cross the sock bridge when i get to it though. [update: i have 2 hat kits because of course i'd find the other one after i got the same one as a Christmas present per my request due to me being unable to ACTUALLY FIND THE FIRST ONE. rude. at least i have a recipient for one of them! the sock kit hasn't turned back up though. weird.] 9) work more with different yarn weights, i seem to be sticking with either aran or bulky. gotta expand my range. then again i'm a never a fan of really fiddly/thin yarn, so still undecided about that. 10) look into making a bag. there was a good pattern for a beach bag or mesh market bag. could be a good use for the green and white cotton yarns i picked up a few years back, or i could wrangle all the small rounds of kitchen cotton yarn into something workable other than dishcloths. could also make a dent in the acrylic i have as well. 11) DEFINITELY sit down and figure out what yarn to keep and what to donate because i wanna make room for new stuff, but also get rid of stuff that i'll never use. :/
