hello and welcome to my blog/account! if you're on the dashboard, and especially if logged out, please consider viewing my proper url instead. there's more stuff to see there
i would really prefer it if you didn't reupload my personal stuff to other websites primarily about content or image sharing, such as pinterest. i'd like to be in control of the things i upload.. also, pinterest doesn't even let you download images without an account!! makes them pretty lame to me! >:(
i have to emphasise that this is my personal account, and i will post whatever & whenever i feel like it. thanks for understanding
rambling and opinions below. spoiler warning up to the end of season 4 bc thats where im at right now + canon SU up to the ending i guess
holy shit i have so much to say this au and the art and the writing is so fucking good its jaw dropping. i have issue reading the wrong dialog but i cant think of a time wd!au gave me trouble with that. btw that scene where lion makes portals to earth in space and the time it takes to get there depicted with scrolling was SO CLEVER. like LOOK AT THIS. and the weight of this increased with the tension makes it even better this is INSANE.
also the level of art style and character height consistency for late season 2 and beyond is shocking. HOW does chekhov draw roses hair so easily?? and theres tiny details that fix up canonical plot holes AAAGH. one thats memorable for me is that gem structures are often kept that way because connie mentions theyre protected sites and pearl adds that they make non-gem creatures "itchy and uncomfortable"
and unlike canon where the mutant abomination gem thing was splitting garnet with its own hands we see it getting near her at best while she was splitting on her own. like seeing something so disgusting it triggers you throwing up. which is way better actually
god i hope rose quartz is good at lying in the moment. im pretty sure steven and earl dont know pink was shattered yet- its never been brought up by any of the crystal gems. what the hell is she going to say? what if pearl isnt there to back her up? "It was for the rebellion." "But how could you do such a thing?!" "Because ummmmmmmmmmmmmm" im picturing it in in my mind right now
and dont you think its kinda sad that earl hasnt been shown talking to any of the crystal gems after learning ASL? they should at least make an effort to understand her. i know its probably to move the plot smoothly but that implies the only times she communicates with them after that story is when steven isnt around and using that gem projection thing. alternatively do you think she just. Forgot? or does not want to talk to them? i mean makes sense they tried to attack steven the first time they met. her face cracking throughout the story but hardly showing notice for it is extremely suspicious. she must be really good at hiding her feelings and cant talk to steven about it cuz of how busy he got OR shes partially unaware about it. i dont know if amethyst can even talk to her,, she cant read gem or sign language and plus she was the one who told the crystal gems about her. theyll probably get uncomfortable standing next to each other
more on that, i have this headcanon that steven and earl from the beginning dont want to stay around the crystal gems but where else can they go? the crystal gems have proven themselves to go from oh! so caring to ready to attack you at a moments notice. and now steven is slowly getting comfortable around them, even told her that he sides with their goals... and not to mention that he has a job and neither of those things are easy to convince someone to quit and maybe thats why earls eye is cracking even more.
i really do think she has so much she wants to discuss with him but he will end up refusing to leave beach city anyway which is why she chooses to stay silent. i just Know shes thinking about something else in this panel. its not that she still believes fusion of different gems is wrong its that if that is what homeworld is doing to corpses, being affiliated with the crystal gems could bring them more unwanted attention or even get them killed. its not safe here unlike when they were travelling. PLUS wasnt she white diamonds pearl for a while??? feels like that could get her recognised instantly. i think what she wants is to live peacefully with steven and seaglass, and to know if pink diamond is doing ok. theres so much to worry about without a voice. guess my favourite character challenge 99% fail
oops forgot to mention the white diamond dreams. fully believe wd is planning to get control of him eventually and her influence on him gets stronger as time goes on
like look at this. "reset to defaults"? what do you think is going to happen if he pressed ok????? amethyst mentioned that he sleepwalks but i dont remember the episode. there was a more obvious example in s4 ep28 reaching back... would WD hypothetically be able to take control of him where he loses consciousness in a dangerous situation???
anyway peak fiction and im long over-due for a new obsession. this may be it for me.
Do you remember how I released a PDF version of WDAU's Season 1 last year? The one which has all new titlecards by Pippin (of @twiniverse fame)?
Well now, there's a PDF of WDAU Season 2, too!
A pdf collection of all the comics from Season 2 of the webcomic Ask White Pearl and Steven
This one has even MORE new titlecards - with lineart by me and colors by Pippin! I personally think they're very snazzy.
Although I'm still on hiatus, with the help of my friends I'm slowly moving things along for WDAU behind the scenes. If you want to download a copy of the comic for yourself, this is your chance.
It's also available on my Ko-Fi. :)
Back in 2018, I began a tumblr-based askblog comic on a whim. Now, it's a full-fledged story with 4 full seasons and more on the way.
In Se
there was a time i tried to make a 3d model of that articulated fidget toy familiar but i gave up really early because uv wrapping looked too complicated to me. oops.
I talked to a young man with white hair on a boat cabin in the middle of a stormy sea. He forgot everything about himself exept for the fact that his name rhymed with ‘Time’ so he started calling himself Time.
I offered him an orange in exchange for a meaningful chat. He took the slice and told me “Nothing’s set in stone, but they’re set in a dirt road. If you roll your wagon in the same path too much it’ll soon be the only path you can take without struggling.”
"preheat"? dude i dont even HEAT my oven. thats right. im cooking my shit coldstyle. im stretching the definition of "cooking" far beyond its ultimate tensile strength. my chicken breasts are the most gorgeous pink color you've ever seen. they look like rosebuds on the very cusp of blooming. they look like the dawn when you're in love. hospital.
Compass set in centre of base plate. Engraved with name of the winds. The primary sphere consists of eight brass rings. In the centre there is a small terrestrial globe, mounted on the ecliptic axis so that its North and South equatorial poles point in the direction of the North and South equatorial poles of the armillary sphere. The terrestrial globe shows the outlines of the continents, which are labelled. America is separate from Asia, and Spain, 'Hispa', is the only country labelled in 'EVROPA'.
a series of illustrations depicting the story of sture wolff and the troll prince, a knight in medieval pareidolia sweden who has a number of tales spun around him, which also vary in details depending on who tells it (most notably, human vs troll retellings). these are specifically more from a troll perspective if that isn't obvious lol...
these were done for a class assignment, and are a bit of a compositional homage to the åsmund series of illustrations by gerhard munthe, the first two specifically inspired by Åsmund Goes Up to the Door in the Rock (1902) and The Fifth Hall (1902) :) more under the cut...
sture wolff is often used as a bit of a cautionary tale from the nordic troll perspective, warning of the "fickle" nature of man and that getting too involved with them is a Bad Idea. the figure of sigrid (the human woman, who in the story falls in love with the "troll prince" two-tusk bluebelly) is in many of those versions also a cunning figure herself, betraying two-tusk in the end and having been the one to lead sture to the hidden troll village in the first place. but there are versions, especially the older ones, where she defends him in the end, and never betrayed him.
obvs human versions of the story are more "expected" like other knightly hero folklore stories of its time, where sture through cunning figures out how to reveal the hidden troll village (with fire) and saves sigrid from the bluebelly, who in this version, curses sigrid to fall in love with him.
in universe this story is based on what was likely Real People, and the "bluebelly village" was a real troll settlement that was destroyed at some point in time, and it's a bit unclear what actually happened to everyone involved in the end.
