“AI art is okay if you’re just making shitposts”
Have you forgotten our roots
it keeps happening
"you don't owe anyone anything" You are a tar pit. Speak for yourself. I personally owe the cafe employees my dishes put away and my friends a listening ear and small scared insects a cup and a gentle trip outside. Hyperindividualism is a rancid infection borne of capitalism and willfully misinterpreted therapyspeak and I will defy it by continuing to be kind regardless of whether or not it benefits me personally
I know these people are incapable of feeling guilt or empathy most of the time, but I'm going to tell every one of them my mother died and it sucked. I don't care.
Maybe I'm trying to make sure a horrible, pointless, unnecessary death can have some meaning beyond my grief. That my mom's suffering can have some... reason.
Do you want to be politically pure in theory or help your neighbor. Is it fruitless to help your neighbor because there's no Perfect Pure way to do it ?
Honestly I would rather be politically pure. Your neighbors would never help you, so why help them?
Youre who this post is talking about. Individualism and elitism is not going to help the revolution and grassroots activism and mutual aid.
When the pandemic hit this old church lady joined our tattooed queer leftist mutual aid group bc her church soup kitchen closed. We shrugged and told her she was welcome as long as she didn't proselytize.
That woman never gendered me right once, but she shut up about Jesus long enough to feed people next to us bc she cared more about action than ideology. She also had a whole network of other church people who helped contribute $ to ingredients. We provided more and better meals together than in our "correct" silos
That's how any of us get out of any of this
When I (M29) was a young boy (M7) my father (M35) took me into the city (X167) to see a marching band (M23, M21, M22, F22, M24, M25, F21, M
He said “Son (M7) when you grow up (F33) would you be — wait what”
Israelis are getting mad at this one haredi guy for saying he's happy the iof soldiers got killed lmao perpetual baby status for all israelis who should never suffer consequences for their actions
I'm glad israeli soldiers died because that means they won't be killing Palestinians anymore which they were clearly intending to continue doing as evidenced by their status as israeli soldiers
Actually I don't know if the guy they're attacking is haredi but he's Jewish and I believe also israeli
Based
he's right
Tbh I don't consider you pro palestine unless you agree with this guy. Imagine being against the "war" and being sad for people who rape Palestinians on camera and use them as slaves in Gaza.
he is a haredi and a vocal activist against zionism and the occupation and genocide, he was arrested in the past for similar "offenses", yesterday the police opened a criminal investigation against him for incitement.
Something about palestinians not being treated as a reliable source except when haaretz confirms it. How many times have gazans taken videos that we shared of people carrying white flags and shot at by the iof. Of that man who was run over by a tank and they all said it was fake and the babies dying in the incubators is not real and the kids with sniper shots to their head is fake except when israelis soldiers say they did what they did and they shot to kill and they shot arbitrarily...well now it's an issue now it's truthful. We can't trust palestinians in Gaza and not even their family members in the diaspora who are in contact with them. But when the haaretz confirms it then it's the truth. We're not allowed to narrate at all. Fuck this all
This!!!!
It's always felt so insane to me that Zionists will say all of that while we have seen actual footage with our own eyes! This has been the most televised genocide in all of history
the fancy term for this is epistemic violence
this is actually legitness
Gotta add the spiritual successor (among us medallion) + live among us reaction
i'd rather see 1000 graffiti penises than 1 product billboard. i'd live in dick city if it meant i could avoid advertisements in my daily life.
a society that allows people to starve when there is food has failed. like. that’s it.
People arguing with this saying, “why do people deserve food for free???” is honestly just further proof of the failure.
Free food
Free water
Free housing
Free healthcare
If you have a “But what about–” then what you’re actually saying is “These are the people I feel deserve to die.”
Nah, this ain’t staying hidden in the tags:
#Free ability to exist safely in public too.#I know that’s not quite the same category of thing but I also think a society where people can’t exist safely in public has also failed.#For example: public benches to accommodate people who can’t walk very far and public bathrooms.
When I was on the streets, my biggest concern – above food, water, shelter, medical care, or any other thing – was remaining housed-passing. People who look homeless don’t have reliable access to community resources that do exist. Sit down on a bench? You’re likely to be chased off or have the cops called. Use the bathroom or wifi at the coffee shop with a sign on the door saying you don’t have to buy anything to sit and use these things? Nope; you’re very likely to be turned away at the door, or told to move on if you sit down instead of getting in line. Get a library card? Fuck you. You’re lucky if they let you sit in there at all. Use the laundromat? There’s gonna be problems the second someone notices that you don’t have a clean outfit to wear while the rest is in the wash.
The only way I could access any of that shit was by pouring every ounce of energy I had and any resources I could access into looking like I had somewhere else to go, and having lies at the ready to make myself appear to not be unhoused. I know I’m not alone in this. The homeless folks who couldn’t pass didn’t even try to enter the library anymore. They knew the free water at Starbucks on hot days wasn’t for them. They didn’t ask employees for help at the post office; they asked me, because they’d already internalized the idea that no housed person would treat them like a human being.
Most of the other homeless people I knew didn’t even speak English well enough to get through the process of applying for food stamps, so I’d share the fruit and granola bars I bought with mine with anyone who needed it. Doing so was illegal (‘food stamp fraud’), and if I’d been caught I’d have lost my access to food.
And none of this is even getting into harassment, or outright assault.
I was painfully aware every second of every day how immensely privileged I was (while living in a city park) that I could pass for housed most of the time, and am fluent in English. Because if I hadn’t been able to, I would absolutely have fucking died.
When I was working poverty wages I did the same thing. I put a lot of effort into “Oh this is just my side gig teehee!!” vibes. When renting a room from someone, that is not My Room, that is the place that I get to use as long as I am clean/polite/quiet. That means getting home from work before 10pm or else spending the night in the car. That means not waking up my roommates/landlord when I leave at 6 am. No, I don’t cook, mostly because I usually don’t have time to do dishes and I know I’m working 12h tomorrow and I can’t leave dishes out for an entire day. Grab some ramen and a protein bar let’s goooooooo.
Music? Tv shows? Headphones or else.
Can’t come across as desperate to the college professor. He has to think that I live at home with my parents, the same as all my peers. Don’t tell him I’m working this afternoon, tell him my brother is getting married and I’ll be out of town.
My boss can’t know that I’m in school - boss fires people who take time off during exams. I had a really thorough anki system so I wouldn’t need more than an hour to prep for my exams. Swapped shifts with colleagues (I’d been covering for them earlier so no one thought anything weird about it, I was just calling in a favour.)
It was easier to pretend to be middle class when I had a car - I mostly lived out of the car, but no one knew that. No one saw. But the car died, and it was a lot harder when trying to live out of a backpack.
There’s a special level of hell reserved for wealthy well-fed people insisting that the starving broke person smile at them.
so i guess today i disrupted the UN "ai for good" summit and got arrested with a friend
