I fully understand that the preponderance of evidence is that George Lucas put absolutely zero thought into what Naboo’s culture was actually supposed to look like outside of what we see on screen, but as far as unintentionally effective worldbuilding goes, establishing that Naboo a. has a tradition of electing literal children as figurehead rulers of its planetary government, and b. apparently also has a tradition of assassinating these children with sufficient frequency that dressing up a bunch of other children as decoy targets has become standard operating procedure by the time of Padmé Amidala’s reign suggests that maybe the fact that this random backwater is a breeding ground for Sith Lords isn’t as unlikely as it initially appears.
#yes! this is what i’ve been saying! #i’ve always headcanoned that the reason they have child monarchs in the first place #is to try and discourage the assassination attempts #like #alright i know you’ve poisoned our last five queens #but this one’s an adorable child! #you wouldn’t poison a CHILD would you? #and even if you would no you wouldn’t #because ACTUALLY you’ve poisoned the decoy
#and like… headcanon part 2: if I were trying to discourage assassination attempts #you know who I’d recruit to be my handmaids and decoys? #that’s right: the daughters of my political rivals #you thought you poisoned the queen? #psych you idiot that’s the minister of finance’s niece #fuck it maybe that’s YOUR niece
#sure you haven’t seen her since the Queen ‘invited’ her to join the Royal retinue #but are you really gonna risk it? #better to just cool it on the poisonings for a bit isn’t it? #try out this fun new thing called ‘diplomacy’ i really think you’ll like it!
#and like– maybe they did cool it and Naboo as a society moved on from that era #and kept the trappings as a reminder of how far they’ve come #or maybe they didn’t and the whole system is just threats behind smiling faces #who knows! certainly not us outsiders! I’ve heard Naboo’s a peaceful society and very fond of diplomacy actually #and what a quaint little government they have! their queen’s fourteen i hear #how very… sweet (via @allogrim )
Also this!
You have a band of nearly-identical teens training in politics and becoming the most ride-or-die girl group, with very few knowing who’s the real queen outside their inner circle. Who’s under the mantle of Queen Amidala? Padmé? Sabé? Rabé? If you make an assassination attempt on the queen, one mistake can have the entire court and most powerful political families turn against you because you killed their daughters, and not the queen!
And then, these women who spent their teenage years as the Queen’s court go on to be diplomats and politicians and keep that loyalty to their old cohort, further binding the Naboo nobility together.
Friendly reminder that if you're gonna critize the Jedi, they have to be wrong.
"They told Anakin he wasn't fit to be a Jedi" Yeah, was he? He was unhappy the whole time, broke all their rules and eventually slaughtered them.
"They massacred the Sith Order" Yeah. Those "I'm better than everyone and everything and they all should kneel to me or die" people? I see no issue here.
"They fought in the Clone Wars as peacekeepers." Yeah. What was the alternative? Standing by as the clones, civilians and the Republic itself (the best government out those in the galaxy, although admittedly that's rather a low bar) were massacred by the Separatists? Yeah no. And peacekeepers ≠ pacifists.
"They forbid marriage." They are a religious organization, monks. Fobidding its members from marrying is pretty standard in monasteries. They also aren't celibate, friendship isn't discouraged at all and it's all but stated by Obi-Wan in TCW S6 that romantic feelings are perfectly allowed. Several of the Order's members practice their home planets' culture and religion and language (Barriss has a Mirilian Idol in her room, she Luminara Quinlan etc have cultural tattoos, many characters have accents which implies Basic isn't their first language and others don't speak Basic at all, etc). They have no dress code, they are allowed to drink, smoke, etc., even become part of other religions organizations (see Plo Koon)! Marriage being forbidden is nothing, literally meaningless next to the freedom Jedi have.
If you're gonna critize the Jedi, they have to be wrong.
No, they shouldn't change their whole way of life just because you don't like it.
You know what, it's the fact that he kept the rock.
Kallus doesn't really own anything of his own. His uniform is provided to him. He's shown driving speeders and bikes that likely came from an imperial owned vehicle pool. He has his Bo-rifle that, while sentimental, is actually tactically useful to him.
But otherwise?
He starts the show assigned to the Lawbringer. It's safe to assume he was provided a room at the Dome where he was temporarily using the office space there. We see him aboard Konstantine's ship, then on Lyste's, then on the Chimera.
He sleeps in a sterile gray box, wherever he needs to be and brings nothing with him but his weapon and the clothes on his back.
But he kept the rock.
Something that has little to no practical use.
A decoration.
A sentiment.
A possession.
I think about that a lot.
Everyone stop and read this thread about the most insane parts of Star Wars canon.
...what?

You can blame credit @quarksbar (who asked for Grogu hiding in Mayfeld's jacket) and @zooheaded (who wanted Migs to get his much deserved sleep) for this.
Don't look at the perspective too close.
inspired by this post.
"Din accidentally won the Darksaber" this and "Din accidentally earned the throne to Mandalore" that but what about Din accidentally making literally everybody fall in love with him
It absolutely baffles me that there are people who genuinely disliked “The Prisoner” episode.
Like, we got Din hunting down those motherfuckers one by one in the most badass way possible. He went full on Batman disappearing in the flickering lights. The competence. The skill.
We got a glimpse of what his life was like before we were even introduced to him in the show. We got to meet people who worked with him, who know how skilled he is. You could see their insecurity a mile away with how they were treating him.
We got Bill Bur saying he wants to see Din’s eyes in the softest, most homo manner possible.
We got Din breaking out of a prison cell barely even 5 minutes after he was shoved in there.
We got Din taking out an entire group of security droids by himself.
And people didn’t like it??? Baffling. Truly baffling.
I think about it a lot, how the name of Spectres is incredibly fitting for the rebels of Lothal. Each is a ghost, and each is haunted by one, or many.
The ghost of the Jedi Order haunts Kanan Jarrus. He is one of their last relics: a symbol of a forgotten creed and age. He tries his best to pass his teachings on to his own padawan, but deep down he knows that the traditions of the Order will die with him. He tried not to let it bother him. Sometimes in the corner of his eye, he will see a tall woman in brown robes, smiling gently at him.
The ghost of her mother, Eleni, haunts Hera Syndulla. To look at herself in the mirror is to look at the face of her beloved ryma. Hera possesses the fire and iron will of Eleni, the very will that followed her to her end. Sometimes, when Cham Syndulla reads the headlines of Imperial newspapers, decrying a new terrorist cell known as the Spectres, he will think of the woman he loved, and how she lives strong in their daughter.
The old C1-10P unit known as Chopper is the ghost of the Republic; not the Jedi, nor the Sith, but the everyday soldier who took up arms for their galaxy, soldiers who could not know the full breadth of evil that threatened them. Chopper does not sleep, but on occasion, his memory core will play back a scene of a burning ship, and the scream of the pilot behind him.
The ghost of his people haunts Garazeb Orrelios. He is the last of his kind, completely alone in a galaxy of quadrillions. His people follow him in the words no one understands but him, in the weapon he wields that has been passed down through generations, in the small traditions only he observes, if only to remind himself that he is still a Lasat. In the golden light of a star cluster, some of those ghosts are put to a much deserved rest; the rest follow onwards in quiet reverence.
The ghost of her family haunts Sabine Wren. To her clan she is dead, and to her, her family is dead as well. Though the mere thought of them makes her chest ache with want, she stands strong in her solitude. Mandalore still throbs within her in every shot from a blaster, in every stroke of a paintbrush, in every explosion that paints the night sky with fire. When she is alone, though, the face of her beloved brother, the voice of her father, the warm touch of her mother will keep her company.
The ghost of Mira and Ephraim Bridger, and the planet they call home haunt their son, Ezra. As he grows old in a distant galaxy, Ezra Bridger has no trouble remembering his fathers face, for it had become his. In every step, in every breath, he radiates the howling of wolves, the chitter of cats, the towering spires of rock, the natural music of Lothal. He is driven by his ghosts; two of them are laid to gentle sleep in the fluttering fury of fyrnocks wings, the other in the pulsing glow of purrgils.
The ghosts of his brothers, even those who did not die in battle, follow former trooper CT-7567, better known as Rex. He sees them in the weathered faces of those who did survive, in a cloudy handprint on a wall, in the clocks as they strike five, in the symbol of the republic he fought and failed to protect. He is both a paragon of the endless cruelty of the fallen republic, and the gentle humanity of the long gone Jedi.
The ghost of a unit of boys on Onderon, barely old enough to know they had been sent to die, follow Alexsandr Kallus. He is the whisper of misplaced, frantic hope that things could become better if he only tried hard enough, if he only pushed himself further. His ghosts only appear to him in his dreams, beyond the veil of smoke and fire and screams, where he is not strong enough to push them aside.
In each there is a ghost, and in each a ghost follows them, shaping their world, driving their choices, changing their fate.
Kallus is a street rat form Lower levels theory

I had a really distressing thought about Cody’s gray armor, so I decided to make it everyone’s problem. As a refresher, here’s our beloved marshal commander in his orange/gold Republic armor, and in his gray Imperial armor:
A lot of ink has been spilled about this, and most of the analysis I’ve seen has talked about how he’s had to suppress his personality and identity under the Empire, and I agree.
However. I wanted to draw a parallel with another clone we’ve seen who painted his armor gray after having a much more vibrant look:
The Wolfpack used to have red-painted armor. After the devastating battle of Abregado, when their entire battalion was killed except Wolffe, Boost, and Sinker, they painted their armor gray in mourning of their fallen brothers, and that’s how it stayed for the rest of the war.
We’ve seen several clones who kept their original armor paint during the Imperial era, like Howzer, Fireball, and Nemec. So I question whether Cody was actually forced to paint his armor gray, or whether he chose to do it himself as a sort of passive resistance or possibly malicious compliance thing.
Incidentally, in Mandalorian armor color symbolism, gray stands for the mourning of a lost love.
Not to mention Kamino’s once colorful, entirely Clone Commander led Rancor Battalion.
After losing hundreds or more undecanted clones in tubes, presumably a bunch of cadets, minimally hundreds of troopers, Ninety-Nine, Commander Colt, Commander Havoc, and most of the Rancor’s four companies during the battle of Kamino, the troopers stationed on Tipoca City switched to gray paint (whether or not they are security clones and not remnants of Rancor, the symbolism stands).
If you’re suffering from emotional damages, I leave you with this background gif of Hammer checking on an injured cadet after the battle.
I do wish tbobf would acknowledge that Leia killed Jabba not only because she deserves the credit but also so we can have this scene
Fennec: yeah so after you fell in the sarlacc pit and Princess Leia strangled Jabba to death-
Boba: when who did what now
And next episode when Din shows up
Boba, jokingly: too bad we can’t call Leia “The Hutt slayer” Organa to help us against the Pykes
Din: I mean I don’t have her number but I can call her twin brother Luke Skywalker
Boba: her what now
Fennec: and if we can't get Organa we can always try and call your sister to help haha... Unless she's still mad about that time I tried to kidnap her as a kid
Boba: my WHAT now
being a pepper plant has to be so weird.
Imagine evolving capsaicin specifically to stop mammals from eating your fruits, and then a mammal comes along that not only will eat your fruits, but likes them specifically because of the capsaicin, so much that it starts using its weird paws to distribute and care for your seeds, which turns into a strong selective force that literally starts evolving you into producing MORE capsaicin and makes you a WAY more successful and wider ranged species than you ever were before
simply because this mammal LOVES Pain Chemical. that evolved specifically to produce pain in mammals. It's not that the capsaicin isn't WORKING. It's just that these freaks like it.
This is the same mammal with social instincts so goddamn strong that they literally try to form social bonds with their predators, and end up evolving the predators into a new species that fits into their social communities as a form of mutualistic symbiosis, and exists in several different forms with unique morphology and behaviors based on the function they perform.
Instead of, I don't know, EVOLVING TO BE FASTER, this animal finds a faster animal and sits on it. Which shouldn't even work because the faster animal is a prey animal and this animal is a predator, but SOMEHOW they FORM A SOCIAL BOND WITH THE PREY. So they can sit on it while it runs fast. And somehow the prey animal?? is cool with this?? and benefits from this relationship???
Literally how can you hate humans. Humans are possibly the most hilarious thing evolution has ever done.
other things humans have done
eat poison plants, decide they like getting poisoned, and evolve the plants to poison them more
evolve to not have hair, but they find mammals with thick fluffy hair and put the hair on themselves, and evolve the mammals to produce extra hair so they can both have a warm coat of hair
split up their parasitic lice species into two separate species because they start taking other animals' hair and putting it on themselves so much
learn how to set things on fire on purpose. maintain body temperature by just standing beside some wood that's on fire instead of literally any normal option
figure out that their prey tastes better and is easier to digest when they hold it over a fire after killing it. get smarter because they digest food so good after it's been held over a fire.
find a poisonous plant and try washing it in boiling water until they don't die when they eat it anymore
go across the ocean by making a floating nest despite not being able to breathe underwater, drink ocean water, or even swim naturally
drink milk from other mammals even though they can't digest it and it makes them sick. Evolve those mammals to produce more milk than their babies can drink so they can drink the milk. Some members of the species evolve to be able to digest milk because they were so hellbent on drinking it.
find flowers, bugs and minerals that are nice colors and crush them up to try to turn other things that color
eat mushrooms that make their nervous systems malfunction because they like malfunctioning their nervous systems
humans worldwide looking up into the celestial vault of stars a million light years away, separated from Earth by the deadly cold and emptiness of space: I bet there are guys up there to form social bonds with
-purposefully rot their food to make poison and then consume that poison for fun
-purposefully rot MULTIPLE FOODS to make different kinds of poison and unlock different kinds of food
-purposefully rot food to make ANOTHER kind of poison that poisons the microorganisms that poison you
