The Cap10K Staff have organized a variety variable distance runs that are free, open to the public and begin and end at Austin American-Statesman’s parking lot. Social run route distances vary between 3-6 miles and will be scheduled semiweekly (or every two weeks). Starting in September, each weekday meeting will incorporate a creative theme that highlights the culture of Austin and the Cap10K. Maps, bottled water, high fives and selfies will be shared at each meeting. Where: Austin American-Statesman, 305 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704. The Statesman parking lot is at the intersection of Barton Springs Rd. and S. Congress Ave., look for the black Cap10K tent at the north end of the lot. Statesman Capitol 10K Names New Race Director
As the Austin American-Statesman looks ahead to the 39th annual running of the Statesman Capitol 10,000 race in 2016, it is pleased to announce a new race director: Jeff Simecek.
“Not only is Jeff an outstanding communicator and respected leader in the community, but he has years of valuable insight and experience with our signature race,” said Ann Poe, Vice President/Marketing & Audience at the Statesman.

Statesman Capitol 10K names The Trail Foundation the 2016 beneficiary
The Statesman Capitol 10,000 has extended The Trail Foundation’s position as the 2015 beneficiary through the April 10, 2016 race. The Trail Foundation will receive $1.00 from every Cap10K registration, which begins Oct. 1, 2015 at cap10k.com. During registration, race participants will also have the option to donate to the beneficiary, and the Statesman will match registrant donations up to $10K. press release

Crosswalk or run
In celebration of National Running Day, Austin runners beat the rush hour traffic as the traverse the 3-mile sidewalk route from Lady Bird Lake up to the Texas State Capitol. The free social run was organized by Cap10K staff with refreshments provided by Evamor water, Coco Libre and Oatmega.

National Running Day, held annually on the first Wednesday in June, is a day when runners everywhere declare their passion for running.
Statesman Cap10K National Running Day Photo Fun Run What are we Do’n Join us for a group 5K fun run with photo ops on the first part of the Cap10K run course. No runner left behind fun run with an out and back to the Capitol from the Statesman Bat Viewing area. Refreshments and giveaways provided.
