Hi! I’m cycle, and welcome to my blog! I’m a fic writer for a few different fandoms (mainly Star Wars, Voltron, and Good Omens so far, with some small dabblings in other fandoms). My interests change with the wind, and I love trying new things and experimenting, so my ao3 profile is kinda like a treasure trove—it’s got it all!

Finally decided to post the first chapter of that post-canon klance fic I've been messing around with:

A Wild Goose Chase by stationary_cycle

“But seriously.” Sobering, Keith closes the distance and drops his head onto Lance’s shoulder. Every one of Lance’s nerves erupt like fireworks at the contact. “I promise no geese will get lost in space on my watch.” Lance hums contentedly. “They better not, or else I’ll have to come out there myself and get them.” -- The war is over, and yet Keith and Lance are still dancing around each other. Finally, Alejandro (the goose) decides to take matters into his own hands.

At last, he pulls himself fully out from beneath the wreckage, and it takes everything in him not to wrestle his helmet from his head to aid in the process of gulping down lungfuls of air. His armor—his beskar armor—digs uncomfortably into his ribcage as he breathes, the indestructible metal somehow crushed and bent out of shape by the stones’ weight. Exhaustion hits him with all the force of a tidal wave, but he can't stop now. That feeling of being watched sharpens, and when he turns his head toward the hole, he sees them.  Stormtroopers—dozens of them. The barrels of their blasters are all up and trained on the gap in the wall; a hundred empty, soulless black sockets stare him down unflinchingly. Or it feels like a hundred, anyway.

“Who's asking?” he growls, voice laced with venom. “I am.” With a jolt, Din whirls around, and his blade is up and active and singing the side of the newcomer’s neck in an instant. She’s a Togruta, and though her face is battle-hardened and weary, she’s young—can’t be more than twenty, at most. It makes something heavy stir in Din’s chest, just looking at her. Even with the darksaber’s crushing black blade burning through the thin cloth of her cloak, searing her skin, she doesn’t waver, doesn’t even flinch. “But you want to know why I’m asking,” she says. There’s something about her eyes, the way they seem almost to pierce right through to the center of him, that reminds him of Ahsoka Tano, and strangely, it makes him want to trust her. Slowly, Din lowers his blade, though he doesn’t deactivate it. It crackles in the space between them, ever-kinetic.

No.

Tension so thick you'll have to break out the chainsaw.

Tension so thick it's like a slab of cement. Don't come back with anything less than a sledgehammer.

A knife is child's play. Some weak-ass tension right there.

May I offer you a snippet of chapter 2 of when all the worlds forget for this WIP Wednesday?

Echo’s gaze skims Din’s visor before dropping to his belt. “Nice blade you’ve got there.” Starting, Din brings a hand up to rest on the darksaber clipped to his hip. Echo had stripped him of his weapons before he’d marched him through the tunnels, but he’d left the saber; Din had simply assumed he hadn’t realized what it was. Clearly, he’d assumed wrong. “You didn’t try to take it from me,” Din says, almost a question. Echo’s lip quirks in a ghost of a smile. “Wasn’t looking for that fight.” So he knows what it is, Din thinks with a jolt of surprise. There seems to be a lot of things Echo knows, though he’s keeping most of them close to his chest. It’s odd, the cards he decides to keep versus the ones he chooses to show.

According to my Goodreads, I've read 29 books this year, and 27 of those are fics that I definitely did not add to Goodreads of my own volition.

Returning to an old Voltron WIP for today's sentences:

Hunk’s face appears on his screen, pinched in concentration and hazily obscured by a steady waft of steam. Behind him, Lance can just make out the edges of the Atlas’s white and orange kitchen cabinets. Of course he’d be cooking right now; he always is. The familiarity of the scene eases some of the anxiety currently swirling in the pit of his stomach.

Suddenly, his mind is completely, horrifically blank. He doesn’t know what to do. That golden tinge begins to build once again, and the pressure behind his eyes coalesces, strains at the confines of his skull like a trapped scream, and his team is waiting for him to make a decision, and he doesn’t know what to do. “Keith,” he croaks out, barely more than a whisper. It’s pathetic, he knows, begging Keith to take back control, to tell him and the rest of the team what to do. Lance had wanted this, he’d wanted to take the pressure of leadership off of Keith. Yet, here he is, choking on his own overwhelming anxiety. Flooded by shame, he can’t bring himself to finish his request, but he doesn’t need to.

Big fan of combined consciousness Voltron. Like all of the paladins' minds syncing and amalgamating into one entity, in order for complete coordination of movement.

Also a big fan of taking that concept and turning it into horror. If they can't tell where one person ends and another begins, then it's hard not to lose yourself a bit every time they combine.

And the more they combine, the harder it is to remember who they are as individuals when they're separate.

Okay, maybe controversial, but I wish Din and Grogu hadn't come back together immediately after the end of Mando s2.

I wish s3 had let Din and the audience sit with his grief over letting Grogu go. I wish it had explored how lost he would've felt, how much he would've struggled with his identity and purpose in his absence. This was the one being he broke his creed for not once, but twice.

And now he's gone. And Din has nothing.

Huge shout out to all the people who read fics. Who actually take the time out of their busy days to open a fic and read it

Before I started writing in earnest, I did not understand how much writing was going to eat into my fic reading time. We joke about having too many tabs open, but I have a different problem: the amount of tabs I have open on new fics is way smaller than it used to be. My ao3 wrapped would be a sad affair. Unless I’ve subscribed to an author or come across something on my dash, I basically don’t see it

Which has really driven home for me how much fandom cannot just be creators. You have to have people who want to read fic and meta discussions and joke posts. You have to have people who want to look at art and gifs. It has to be mutual.

Community thrives on flow. You have to have that movement of people sharing things with each other for a community to exist

New fic alert!!!

After surrendering Grogu to the Jedi’s care, Din’s left wandering, in search of something that might fill the hole in his chest. But when his pilgrimage to Jedha is interrupted, he finds himself almost thirty years in the past, in the company of two rogue clone troopers and an ex-Jedi survivor. There’s a strange sort of comfort to be found in knowing you’re not the only one struggling to deal with everything you’ve lost.

Here's a little snippet of the first chapter, if you're interested :)

“I can’t do it,” he tells the ghosts, raw. The confession is different this time—more akin to admitting defeat. Here on Jedha, he’s not seeking atonement, not like he was on Mandalore. He knows now that revealing his face wasn’t wrong, no matter what the creed says. But… “There’s still this hole.”  He looks over at the empty space beside him, and for the first time since Gideon’s cruiser, he lets himself feel.  “And it hurts.” He shudders, squeezing his eyes shut and pressing a palm against his chestplate as if that might relieve the ache pulsing beneath his sternum. “Like everything inside me’s been torn out.” He feels it all, feels the ragged edges of his organs, the gaping sinkhole carving through him. His ribs cave with it, dig their sharp points into his spine and pierce right through his backplate. His chest constricts, every breath a knife, and suddenly, it’s too much—this pain, this grief.

Let's just pretend it's Wednesday so I can share a little snippet of the next chapter of Tidal Waves with y'all!!

Speaking of things not feeling right—why hasn’t Keith given them any orders yet? A ripple of fear climbs up his spine as a gold tinge begins building in the depths of the robeast's gaping face. They don’t yet know what this thing is capable of; they need to move yesterday. Now is not the time for Keith to freeze up– “Lance!” Keith shouts. In the same moment, a crushing pressure swells behind his eyes, and everything hits him all at once. He barely has enough time to shout “Evasive!” before the golden laser is tearing through the open air in front of him, gunning straight for his lion’s—the black lion’s—head. The lions scatter, leaving the laser to cleave through empty air, but only just. Lance’s heart pounds as he jerks his lion up and around, his palms sticking to the joysticks as the reality of their situation hits him with full force. He’s the team leader. He’s the black paladin. They’re waiting on his orders, his plan.
