                 It  was  said  that  he  would  have  a  Padawan  once  again.  He  found  no  harm  in  it,  and  found  it  honorable  to  teach  a  younger  generation.  However,  though  this  to  be  true,  he  felt  as  though  his  teachings  lacked  something.  It  was  that  slight  fear  of  not  being  good  enough  that  always  seemed  to  slow  him  down  a  little,  questioning  himself.  Master  Yoda  told  him  so.  Obi-Wan  knew  that  Anakin  was  well  on  his  way,  having  his  own  Padawan.  He  was  proud,  happy  to  see  him  grow  into  his  own,  and  to  show  Ahsoka  growing  with  each  new  lesson.  Perhaps,  he  really  wasn’t  that  bad  of  a  teacher.

          Obi-Wan  was  in  the  middle  of  concluding  a  meeting  about  their  next  battle  tactic  with  Cody  when  he  heard  the  comm  go  off.  The  words  spoken  made  his  eyes  flutter  upwards,  glancing  at  the  soldier  with  a  raised  brow.  That  was…  today?  How  foolish  he  could  have  been.  He  must  have  lost  track  of  time.  Being  in  the  middle  of  a  war  really  wasn’t  the  time  for  such  Padawans  to  exist.  Meaning,  to  have  them  on  the  battlefield.  It  worried  him,  but  of  course,  his  life  will  be  sacrificed  before  such  young  beings.

          He  sighed  heavily,  fingers  pinching  the  bridge  of  his  nose.  He  wasn’t  prepared.  No  matter,  he  would  just  have  to  make  it  happen…  somehow.

               The  Jedi  Master  was  quick  to  call  an  end,  and  turned  on  his  heel.  Both  hands  behind  his  back  as  he  walked  with  Cody  down  the  hall.  He  would  meet  his  Padawan  half  way.  It  was  the  least  he  could  do  for  not  being  there  to  greet  her  at  first.

“The General would like to meet you halfway, ma’am.” Longshot’s comm beeped as the call ended, “Come with me.” 

She followed the clone trooper into the hallway, keeping a cool exterior. 

It was happening; she was finally going to be able to put a face to the person (sorry- Jedi Master) she was going to see pretty much every day for the next kriff-knew-how-long. Excitement wasn’t the right word…nervous wasn’t, either. Anxious? And it didn’t feel like it was for the right reasons. Was this normal? Did every Padawan feel this way in the beginning? Like they’d rather be doing anything else? Like they didn’t belong?

Before Larken could come to any kind of conclusion (Had Longshot been talking to her? She hadn’t been listening-), they were walking straight towards another clone and who, she assumed, had to be Obi-Wan. He was almost as tall as the troopers- clean-cut auburn hair with Republic armor on.

Armor that had battle scars on it; dents and cuts from she could only guess what. It truly hit her, then, that they expected her to fight in the war. But what if she didn’t want to? What if she didn’t want to hurt anyone? Was it normal to feel like this?

As they finally reached the clone and jedi duo, Larken mentally folded up the anxiety swirling in her stomach and shoved it down. She could think about it later; late at night when no one could catch her staring into nothingness.

Longshot regaled some information to the other clone (Cody, apparently), then he was introducing her, “-and this is Larken.”

Oh. That was her cue to talk-

“Hey.” she greeted, cooly. Straight-faced.

The dual suns rising on Tatooine’s horizon almost made waking up so early easy; the pinks and yellows fading together were beautiful. Leia would have been able to lay in bed to enjoy it, and maybe even take a moment to draw it, had it not been for the bickering coming from the kitchenette that was slowly increasing in volume. She knew how this went- there was no point trying to fall back asleep. 

She huffed a sigh out of her nose, rolling onto her back. The desert cave’s ceiling was the same as it was every morning; sandy and rocky. Nothing new. Just like her three roommates getting on each other’s nerves, but mostly hers. 

Boys, she thought annoyedly, assuming it was her father and Obi-Wan (because Ahsoka was always sensible), pulling her blanket back and climbing off her cot. She stuffed Lola, her trusty bot sidekick, into her favorite dark green cape’s pocket as she made her way out of the bedroom. 

Entering the kitchen, she was quickly proven correct - dad and Obi-Wan arguing. For the millionth time. Ahsoka was also up, though; it looked they had just awoken her, too. They fell silent as they noticed her.

“You guys woke me up. Again.” Leia said, exasperated, as she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes.
