it had been quiet all day. meaning she hadn’t had any of 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 come to mind, so while she had the chance she wanted to find something; anything that would comfort her about it all. she headed to the library even though she didn’t know what exactly she was looking for. before she could speak the young man surrounded by loose books seemed to know what it was. ❛ oh. guess it’s a popular topic, huh? ❜ she stopped in her tracks, a defeated sigh escaping her lips. the look on the other’s face suggested he knew what he was talking about. these things were bad and scary. ❛ yeah… you too. ❜ standing there awkwardly, she wasn’t sure what to do next.
❛ are yours scary? ❜ she peeped, it was a spoken thought; one she quickly wanted to retract. ❛ …sorry, you don’t have to talk about it. ❜ she appologized frantically. she usually wanted to avoid the subject, but she had seen the guy’s facial expression ғᴀʀ ᴛᴏᴏ ᴏғᴛᴇɴ recently. it was relatable and she was curious.
kneeling down, sam makes sure that all of the books on the lower shelf of the cart are alphabetized correctly and in the proper section they need to be in before he has to wheel them over to their shelves. as the young woman starts talking about them being a popular topic and whatnot, sam stands and nods. ❝ yeah, people come in here twice a day looking for answers. ❞ the college student shrugs.
but when she asks if his are scary because he was the one to bring it up, he kinda looks away from her for a moment, his light eyes drifting down toward his hands. ❝ sometimes. ❞ sam admits to her before lifting his head to watch her own eyes.
❝ i feel like i don’t know what’s real. ❞ and then he clears his throat and raises a brow in her direction. ❝ sorry, things are awkward, usually i end up making them more awkward. ❞ reaching over, he grabbed a stack of books in his arms, not so many as he had earlier though.
