Out of Fire: Off to a sleepover! See ya guys later!
Shinichi and Kazu -- Rare Interest
Ever since Shinichi got back from being Conan he has been practically drowning in school work. Missing so much of school really was taxing, even if he was perfectly capable of following the lessons. It was just a lot of work to make up and even he couldn’t finish it all without getting a headache. So, even though his attendance is dangerously low, he decided to skip school to rest his head for a bit. Surely one more absence wouldn’t be so bad, right? Besides, if he didn’t take a break he felt like his head would split open. Well, he says break but after he woke up that morning he went to work on his case files. As long as he didn’t do school work it was counted as a break, right?
It worked for Shinichi so he did just that. Deciding that his house wouldn’t be the best place to stay if he didn’t want to be disturbed, he went to a nearby cafe. Shinichi didn’t know much about the place, but it was still a good distance away from school and more importantly, they sold coffee. He could probably get a decent amount of work done there without anyone from school finding him. He wasn’t so worried about being found during school, but after the day ended surely someone, probably Ran, would head over to his house trying to demand to know why he wasn’t there.
However, he was surprised that he did end up seeing someone from his school at the cafe. Unless his watch was off and his sense of time was wrong, school should still be in session. Which would mean that he wasn’t the only one skipping today. Well, it wasn’t his business and he hardly had any right to scold someone about not going to school. If he remembered correctly, that was the new student that arrived yesterday, wasn’t it? From what he remembered, the other was undoubtedly uncomfortable yesterday. Probably not good with people and would much rather go outside than be stuck inside a stuffy classroom. It wasn’t a good idea to skip on your second day of a new school, but well surely the other would be aware of that, right?
Well, either way it still wasn’t his problem, so he just went back to working on his cases. Shinichi didn’t worry about any risk of being tattled on, if he was ratted out by the blond then that would just mean Shinichi could point out the blond was in the same circumstance. He allowed the blond to slip out of his mind as he focused on his files once more, but before he could get too far into his work, he caught some strange movement out of the corner of his eye. The detective turned to look without thinking too much on it, but as soon as he realized what he was looking at his mind kicked into gear.
Standing straight up, he flipped open his phone and dialed the police while writing directions he intended to give to a worker at the cafe so the workers and customers won’t get injured.. “There is a robbery at the convenience store at xxx street. Please get here quickly. There is one man, he is armed.” He looked back out the window and his eye was drawn to a black car, a quick look at the licence plate and he could already tell it was a fake. “Make that two men, they have a car the licence plate is し15-64 and the district number is 510.” With that he ended the call and quickly moved to hand a nearby waitress the note. Satisfied that things were settled, he rushed out the door intending to do what he can about the robbery.
Figuring that it would be safest to take out the one holding the gun at the cashier, he used his soccer ball and kicked it at the man’s hand. It was supposed to bounce off a display stand, but it was weaker than he thought and instead of bouncing, the ball just knocked it down. “Shit.” He cursed and looked at the car that was already starting to make its getaway. Figuring that he would have to just leave it to the police, he made his way over to make sure the other robber wouldn’t be any problem.
⋨♘⋩ The other student jumped up suddenly, dialing a number and speaking quickly to what sounded like the police. Kazu peered outside, watching the robbery carefully and spotting the van the other spoke of. He reached down and kicked off his indoor shoes, switching to the Flame Regalia. No one would care that he had Treks on inside; he was leaving anyway.
When he leaned back straight again, running out to the front, he was just in time to watch the soccer ball hit the display and the entire thing collapse pathetic. He lifted an eyebrow at the other student wondering what in the hell that was supposed to accomplish other than just alerting the driver to speed away.
Whatever it was that student was trying to do, it didn't matter. With the van speeding off and the teenager with a death wish sprinting towards the convenience store, Kazu decided his speed was better used to catch the van than against a machine gun. He kicked over to the display stand and picked up a wood stake that had been snapped into a sharp point by the soccer ball, then started after the van.
It wasn't hard to catch up. After all, Kazu had been racing jets with his Treks and other riders. The Treks speed limiter had been broken and there was almost no limit to how quickly one could ride. And, needless to say, Kazu was one of the fastest, being the Flame King and all. He tried not to brag about it much to himself. Even now, the title still seemed surreal but he was.
And there he was, caught up to the van in a matter of second, speeding beside the driver window. The driver turned and both Kazu and the robber met eye contact. The driver raised an eyebrow then his jaw dropped comically in pure shock to see the boy just seemingly sprinting outside his window. Kazu grinned and waved before stabbing the stake into the front wheel and promptly popping it.
The car spun out of control, nearly missing the blond as he jumped into the air to avoid being struck by the front end, spinning over the top of the car and landing on the otherside. The sedan slammed into a telephone pole and stopped abruptly. Kazu stood and skated over to the car, peering inside to spot the driver, dazed but alive. Good. He had avoided murdering people thus far, he didn't want to start now.
Returning to the driver's door, he forced it open with a good heave and pulled the driver out, laying him on the ground and watching him closely to make sure he made no sudden movements. Turning to a nearby man, he handed him the wood stake and motioned to the driver. "If he moves, just give him a good, uh, whack." He made the motion of cracking the stake over the robber's head but it was uneeded because the police showed up anyway to arrest the guy.
⋨♘⋩ Content with the outcome, he decided to return to the coffee shop, praying to make it there, grab his stuff and bugger off before the reporters arrived. They were generally pretty prompt but he didn't want to even bother looking for them. He made quick to gather his stuff, including his shoes, into his backpack and picked up his iced coffee, which wasn't so icy anymore, and tried to leave the scene before anyone could catch him.
Grocery Dilemmas
The morning started out just like any other. Sode no Shirayuki had risen with the sun and entered her kitchen to make a special tea that warmed her typically chilled bones. As she sipped the herbal tea and sat down on her tatami mat, something new struck her mind. It had been a long time since she had treated herself to something that involved peppermints. How she loved the cooling zap of peppermint in her mouth and all the things that could be done with them made it so she could never get tired of them!
Pulling out a recently purchased laptop, Shira navigated the web, poorly she would add, and searched for recipes that involved peppermints. One recipe jumped out at her and she instantly wanted to try. They were called peppermint-oreo cookie balls and the reviews said they tasted exquisite. Something like this couldn’t be passed up so Shira quickly set her tea aside and began jotting down the recipe and ingredients to purchase at the store.
Even though Shirayuki didn’t own a car, getting to the store wasn’t a challenge. She lived in a fine apartment complex that was also within walking distance of many things which did include a shopping center. Walking for her took about fifteen minutes to get to Shopper’s Mart. Clutching the small piece of paper with ingredients, she began her search through the isles for what it was she needed.
Candy Canes, soft cream cheese, oreo cookies, and a package of semi-sweet chocolate. She read over and over as she looked up at the individual isles. Hardly anyone was in the store except for a few employees and some casual shopper’s, but she didn’t need any help. With enough searching, she could find whatever she needed so she walked down each isle in slow strides to see what was on each shelf from both sides.
For the most part, when Shirayuki walked by other customers they were elderly folk. It was only normal for her to see so she would smile and nod to them as she would pass them by. Being an adult carried so many responsibilities and while she could pay to have someone shop for her, it was something she didn’t mind doing. That being said, it was odd when Shirayuki exited one isle and entered another to see a kid shopping. He had to be in high school by the looks of it.
The rarity of the scene had Shira quirking an eyebrow up, but she didn’t say a thing. At least not until she noticed one of the ingredients she needed that so happened to be where he was standing. “Good afternoon.” She greeted first. “If you’ll excuse me.” She didn’t want to seem rude as she moved around him to grab the package of chocolate that was on her list. Now she only had three more items to find.
⋨♘⋩ It had been only two days since his sister dropped him off at the dorms and bid him farewell for the time being. He had been to his first day of school once, then skipped the second day because he decided that the school his parents transferred him to was more or less uninteresting and he wanted to spend his time Trekking instead. After all, there would most definitely be Storm Riders in the area and he needed to stay on top of his game. He owed everyone at home this much, at least.
His sister agreed to leave behind enough money to pay for school and food for about a month, to which he would then have to get a job and pay for his own, well, everything. With his parents still in America and his sister attending a prestigious University somewhere not nearby, he would have to learn to live on his own. Needless to say, he was ill prepared.
His friends depended on their families a lot (as did Kazu with his sister) and none of them ever learned anything about independence, especially since they all planned to just live together and figure it out on their own, but now he was beginning to regret tuning out his sister when she tried to teach him out to cook or clean his laundry.
Now, he was standing stupidly in an isle, staring at a packet of chocolate chips with a basket of instant ramen, brand name frozen dinners, and cheap white rice packets. Well, chocolate chips could make for a cheap chocolate snack instead of expensive convenience store candy bars... He grabbed the small packet and tossed it in with the rest of his rice, ramen, and frozen dinners. Then, "Good afternoon," said a voice.
"Oh, sorry." He threw the chips in his basket and stepped aside so the lady could grab what it was she wanted. He stole a sideways glance at her because she looked different than some of the other women he had ever seen but tried not to seem rude by staring. He looked into his basket again to check inventory then decided what he had should be more than enough for a few weeks.
Even he was aware of what sort of food he had thrown in his basket but healthy shopping wasn't exactly something he was familiar with and besides, so long as he was eating and burning off all the calories Riding then what difference did it make? Besides, he did love the frozen dinners and instant ramen so it was only natural he picked those foods up first.
⋨♘⋩ Yeah, maybe he could live like this for a while. Now, what was he going to make for lunch tomorrow...?
Out of Fire: I....have not been at home since I first got here, I'm really sorry. I came home for a day, then I went on a camping trip. Needless to say, I am in serious need of activity so now... I will make an open starter and I shall respond. Do remember, I refreshed Kazu so now no relationships or people are remembered and everything must be started from the beginning. Thank you!
Shinichi and Kazu -- Rare Interest
~~* Screw that.
The first day of class was bullshit. Mainly because he was too shy to talk to anyone and just stuck to being "the new guy" for the day. Everyone just stared at him and whispered to each other but he remained mostly secluded. He didn't want to meet anyone, he didn't want to make introductions. He wanted to go back to Higachuu and Trek with Kogarasumaru again. But that was too far and a long ago activity.
So, instead of going to school the second day, like he should have, he skipped school and went out Trekking for the day. He soared between buildings and flipped backwards, careful not to set the sky on fire. It freaked people out when fire streaked the air and the news would talk about meteors and aliens and other stupid shit and Kazu was careful not to do it too often - but it was amusing to listen to people called Kazu a meteor and an alien, because he knew the truth.
When the sun hit the highest point in the sky, the blond was soaked in sweat from the amount of exercise he exerted and the fire of his Regalia that so wanted to be free. But it was an inappropriate time and he didn't need anymore stress from other Storm Riders during the first week in Bunkyo.
He found a nice little cafe to order an ice coffee from, even though he wasn't too huge a fan of them. He just needed something cold to drink that would give him a little more energy. He was exhausted but it was a nice exhausted he could only find after doing so much in a run. It was what he needed to relieve the stress that was new city, new school, being the "new guy".
His gaze cast across the cafe to meet the eyes of another young student who he had seen only once before in the halls of Spica. A fellow skipper? There was a moment of staring and realizing they were sharing a secret that should never be spoke. Kazu only remembered the student because he thought he had stupid hair. He had seen a lot of crazy hairstyles in his time, but a cowlick was new. Well, excluding that one guy...
He tore his eyes away and returned his attention at his iced coffee. There was a hint of vanilla and cappuccino somewhere in his drink and he didn't remember ordering any extra shots but he didn't really care. It had been a while since he had an iced coffee. He tilted hiss head to the side, resting his jaw in his hand, and stared out the window beside him through the logo of the cafe shop. He didn't really pay attention to what he was looking at, instead lost in thought about the home he greatly missed.
The sun caught on metal and glinted brightly into Kazu's eyes. He squinted, annoyed, then rubbed his eye. He scowled and looked back outside the window in search of the source of the glint only to spot, across the street, a man training an automatic gun at a cashier across the street in the convenience store. He lifted his head suddenly, alert and shocked. "Oh, shit," he whispered and he stood suddenly. At first, he was afraid he was seeing things. "...Son of a bitch," he whispered.
~~* His day just got a whole lot more interesting.
What? I got my son back!

Stream 11/6 - Kazu & Shinichi
The letter read, Saint Elmo will ring the hour of your death. May the Great Detective of the East and Flame King die together. Shinichi raised an eyebrow at the morbid message, while Kazu leaned forward to get a better look. "Saint Elmo...?"
Shinichi looked at the blond and moved the letter for him to read. "Sound familiar?" Kazu nodded.
Off in the distance, down the hall, a Grandfather clock chimed the midnight hour. "Well, Saint Elmo isn't a person, but it's really a phenomenon where, in the right weather, the wings of a plane are illuminated in blue lights, like it's on fire. Saint Elmo's Fire-."
"No, that's not where I heard it before." Then Kazu looked up and noticed the look on Shinichi's face. "Hey, what's the matter?"
"Saint Elmo's Fire," the detective mused. "There's no way that could possibly mean-" Then, leaving no room for doubt, he shoved Kazu towards the window. "Get out, get out!"
The blond cried out and smashed the window with the wheels of his Regalia and both he and the detective dropped out of the window just as a raging inferno spat out at where they were once standing.
The couple jumped to their feet and ran away from the building as the fire consumed the building in a passionate and murderous hunger.
Oh! Comes with a little drabble, too! I thought I'd make this picture for Shinichi, because I can. Yay!
A cute Kazu x Shinichi picture I whipped up for Valentine’s Day. (“I WANT TO SEE HIM!”) Hope you all like! Now, I shall disappear again!
Bring this back because I love it.
“Kazu, I know I am not spending as much time as I should with you, but I want you to know that I will always be there for you. I am busy with my cases, but I am trying my hardest to get back to where you are.” Submitted by - Heiseiholmes
