Aaron Ramsey Charity Golf Day 2014 â Parkinsonâs UK
A couple weeks ago, (Tuesday, 29th April, 2014) saw Arsenal & Wales star, Aaron Ramsey hold his inaugural Golf Charity Day, raising money for Parkinsonâs UK.
For such a great cause we decided to donate a Steed Bespoke 3-Piece Suit to the Charity Auction and which also saw myself play in the Golf Competition. (Even though I am just a 28 Handicap Beginner)!
Now Parkinsonâs UK is a charity that is very dear to Aaronâs heart, due to the sad fact that his Uncle, passed away after suffering from the disease for just 2 years.
It was a difficult thing to hear, when Aaron was explaining to us all how healthy and happy his Uncle was before being diagnosed with Parkinsonâs at a relatively young age and then how the disease progressed at an alarming rate before terribly taking his life.
Parkinsonâs is something most of us have all heard of but if I am honest, I didnât quite realise till this event how common this is and how swiftly things can change after being diagnosed.
Parkinsonâs is a progressive neurological condition. People with Parkinsonâs donât have enough of a chemical called dopamine because some nerve cells in their brain have died.
Without dopamine people can find that their movements become slower so it takes longer to do things.
The loss of nerve cells in the brain causes the symptoms of Parkinsonâs to appear.
Thereâs currently no cure for Parkinsonâs and we donât yet know why people get the condition.
Parkinsonâs doesnât directly cause people to die, but symptoms do get worse over time.
We where also told that everyone in the world would develop Parkinsonâs if they lived to the age of 120.

The event itself, was held at the fantastic Shire London Golf Course in Barnet, North London, of which Aaron Ramsey is a club member and friend to all that work at the club.
The Shire London is a 27 Hole Facility which has a 9 Hole âBallesteros Challenger Courseâ to go along side itâs prestigious Ballesteros âMastersâ Course. These two courseâs are the only two in the UK which were designed by the Legendary Seve Ballesteros back in 2007 before he sadly passed away in 2011.
The Ballesteros Masters Course is laid out like few other golf courses in the world. There are six par 5s, six par 4s and six par 3s, and on both the front 9 and the back 9, no two consecutive holes are the same par, with equal numbers of par 3s, 4s and 5s. This gives maximum variety, and maximum enjoyment â a core philosophy of Seveâs designs.
It really is a magnificent facility with a great clubhouse, which serve up amazing food for a great price and I canât speak highly enough of the staff at the club as well. So if any of our clients are ever in the area and fancy a round, you should certainly give it a try, or even betterâŚI will go play with you!
It was an absolute honour to attend the event and I canât wait for next years event.
