"And, of course, the strawberries didn't last a darn week after the first day of Summer harvest this year, which is a crying shame, if you ask me," it was one those ramblings in that sweet Georgia Peach southern accent that made Wendy's voice ring like a bell in a crowd full of people. Perhaps she would be more cautious of big parties like this if she wasn't so distinguishable by the people who knew her. Though, the more she spoke, the more her lungs began to grow tired, "... I'm talking too much, aren't I?" she brought a cup with a pink straw perched inside to her lips.

       despite  the  others'  expressions  on  their  faces,  amyra  quite  liked  the  discussion  of  the  harvest,  but  maybe  that's  because  of  their  mother.  "i  don't  think  so,"  amyra  says  with  a  soft  smile,  taking  a  sip  of  her  own  drink  (  lemonade  because  she's  frankly  scared  of  drinking  everything  else  ).  "but  i  do  think  maybe  you  should  take  a  breath  more  than  once  in  a  sentence,"  she  adds  laughing.  "you  know  i  can  talk  about  that  stuff  all  day  long."

amara hadn't meant to come and get a drink at the same time that cam had. if she'd know, she would have avoided it at all costs. but it seemed that luck was not on her side. she couldn't help but roll her eyes at the sound of his voice, turning and just managing not to actually run into him as she deemed his comments with a response. "and your opinion on the matter is relevant because..." she trailed off, pretending to be unable to think of a reason for why his voice mattered.

       cam  ignores  how  the  quick  flash  of  red  hair  out  of  the  corner  of  his  eye  causes  his  stomach  to  drop  only  slightly.  but  luckily,  the  familiar  disdain  in  her  voice  distracted  him  just  enough.  he  offers  her  a  smile,  though  he  knows  she'll  only  scowl  at  him.  "i  think  the  student  council  wants  to  hear  everyone's  input,  angel,"  cam  said  laughing.  "though  i  guess  i'm  lucky  you  don't  have  enough  sway  with  them.  otherwise  my  ideas  would  be  tossed  out  instantly."  cam  has  never  once  even  spoken  to  a  council  member.

stealing the bottle from his hand to refill her own drink theo frowned, "that's... concerning," she hummed, she couldn't say she'd reflected much over the choice in music however if he spoke the truth she had to admit he was probably right that this year was an improvement, "i'm shocked to see you could have possibly survived it with your sanity in tact."

       "you  don't  approve  of  today's  hits?"  granted,  neither  did  cam  as  much,  but  it  was  something.  cam  smiled  as  he  took  a  sip  of  his  drink,  now  that  the  other  had  taken  it  away  from  him.  "it's  ...  mostly  in  tact  if  i'm  being  honest."  but  not  just  because  of  mediocre  music.

"i dunno, i always feel like it could be... dancier." a critique of the music at any event they attended nowadays. unless kesha was playing, the function was an absolute snoozefest. that didn't stop dara from having a good time, but it did mean she had to put more work into it "the drinks are decent, though." she recalls a few moments before, bickering with a bartender about the specificities of her martini, and cracks a smile, laugh threatening to break through "what would you play, if you were the dj?"

       "maybe  you  should  tell  them  that."  he  said,  pointing  over  to  the  dj,  who  honestly,  cam's  never  seen  before  but  is  grateful  for  their  taste.  "they'll  be  good  enough  to  make  you  not  remember  tonight  if  you  try  hard  enough."  cam  raises  his  own  cup  in  a  toasting  manner  before  taking  a  sip  out  of  it.  he  ponders  their  question  before  raising  a  finger  as  he  counts  each  one.  "first,  nicki  minaj.  any  party  is  better  with  her.  second,  you  need  a  good  song  that  anyone  can  sing,  so  abba  obviously.  third,  any  good  throwback  song.  everyone  would  have  a  good  time."

"how very honorable of you," she mused. he made them sound like they were all absolutely hedonistic, and to be fair only some of them were. still, josie laughed, the melodic sound clinging in the air as her dark eyes shone. "i'm sure you're right," she agreed, "however, when you phrase it like that we do sound like a bunch of lost causes," her nose scrunched as she spoke josie shook her head.

       he  bows  his  head  just  a  little  bit  but  enough  to  be  dramatic.  "i'll  be  here  all  year  fortunately."  unfortunately  for  everyone  else.  cam  laughs  along  with  her  before  agreeing  with  her.  "i  mean  i  can  only  talk  for  myself,  but..."  he  trails  off,  and  he's  still  laughing.  "if  it's  free,  i'll  surely  enjoy  it  while  i  can."

kali brought the cup up to her lips as she watched her best friend laugh at something that was obviously more obnoxious than it was amusing. rolling her eyes, she came to his side, looping her arm through his and pulling him away from the other student before he got his ass handed to him. "why do you need to bother literally everyone?" she asked as she pulled them away from the crowd. "why can't you just focus on one or two?" she pushed her hair out of her face, stepping away from him. "amara's here." // @steelheartss

       cam  is  still  smiling  at  the  other  student  as  kali  pulls  him  away,  his  arrogance  practically  radiating  off  of  him.  he  won't  tell  her,  but  he's  sure  kali's  interferance  prevented  him  from  getting  into  a  fight  his  first  night  back.  "because  it's  fun,  kali.  you  should  try  having  some."  he  laughs,  but  the  smile  starts  to  fade  at  the  mention  of  amara,  even  if  he  still  feels  a  little  more  excited  to  be  here.  "i'm  sure  she  is.  we do go  to  the  same  school."

       "at  least  they  got  better  music  this  year,"  cam  muses,  refilling  his  cup  with  something  that  will  definitely  give  him  a  hangover  tomorrow,  but  at  least  he  thinks  that's  the  best  way  to  start  the  new  semester.  "feel  like  last  year  was  kidz  bop  adjacent."  it  wasn't,  but  he  just  thinks  his  taste  in  music  is  better.

josie raised a brow, lips curling into a gentle smile behind the rim of her cup. "so does that mean you are taking credit?" she asked, amusement ringing through her voice, "i believe there could be enough to go around, but if not, i suppose i appreciate i'm not the one missing out."

       "yeah,  that's  exactly  what  i'm  doing,"  cam  begins,  laughing  as  he  takes  a  sip  from  his  own  cup.  he  takes  a  moment  to  look  around  and  it  doesn't  seem  like  the  whole school  is  here,  but  there's  still  more  than  he  thought  would  be.  "i'm  sure  it'll  be  gone  by  the  end  of  the  evening  though.  once  we  all  get  more  into  it."  he  knows  he'll  be  getting  more  as  the  night  goes  on.

       "i  think  i'm  insulted  that  you  think  so  poorly  of  me.  i'd  be  a  catch  for  anyone."  a  pause.  "at  least  for  the  short  term."

the garden of bacchus was never empty per say, but it certainly never was as full as on the eve before classes started up again. when old and new students gathered, excited conversations filling the garden and drinks being passed around. josie fidgeted with her own drink, a pleasant smile flittering across her features as she locked eyes with her fellow students, "they've hidden the better drinks away over there this year," the brunette nodded her head towards the far end of the gardens.

       "you're  welcome  for  that."  he  had  absolutely  nothing  to  do  with  it.  "figured  didn't  want  all  the  first  years  stealing  the  best  drinks."
