physical (and psychological) punishment should NEVER be part of any education. it doesn’t teach children how to behave, but how to be afraid for their safety every time they fail. it’s not a parents right, because parents do not own their children. they are supposed to protect them at all costs and not to traumatize them for a lifetime. sure, parenting is fucking hard. but being a kid is too, it’s even harder, because sometimes the people who should protect you become the ones you are most afraid of while being told to respect them no matter what. respect is to be earned, we don’t owe our parents anything they didn’t fight for.

It’s not your fault, never was. You didn’t deserve any of this. You deserved better. You are worthy of love.
