I was going to ignore this bit this is really upsetting.
1. For gay people who are religious and have sought the acceptance of religious family who has fucked them over time and time again, this means the world to them. Youāre not religious? Thatās fine. Not every person on the spectrum isnāt, however, and forgetting about them isnāt okay. No, pride events arenāt specifically about religion, but for people who have faith this is a big fucking deal.
2. I donāt believe they are asking for a cookie, I believe that they are apologizing and seeking to fix huge problems they caused. They want forgiveness, but more than that they want to show their support.
3. Would you rather people just never apologize when hey colossally fuck up? Do you want the kind of allies who can never admit they are wrong and try to fix their mistakes? Personally, I want active allies who are always seeking to improve themselves and are being active in the community and trying to change the minds of people who are against us, but I guess thatās just me.
4. I understand your frustration and where you are coming from, but this is the wrong freaking group to take it out on. Full stop, go take a break and think about what youāre saying here.
