I don’t think I’ve ever worked harder I wanted to “relax” tonight, but I find myself at Starbucks, all I do is work & school I can’t remember the last time i had some real social interaction that wasn’t at Starbucks. I have cut off Facebook & Instagram which leaves me with no mindless scrolling  & still I don’t see how I can’t find the time to do what I NEED to do. Last night I was studying at the kitchen table, last one in the house awake. This morning I was studying at the kitchen table, first one in the house awake...late nights, early mornings. &  I cried today when I received the score on my Chemistry exam. I hate when faculty tell me I’m an exemplary role model student, I think to myself: do you know who you’re talking to? no, you’re wrong because If I was I wouldn’t be struggling so much right now. I’m really beginning to question whether or not I should pursue my current objective-Research Scientist & PhD in order to become a professor to help push to eliminate achievement gaps by race. I want to graduate and be done, but it will take an additional 3 semesters, I didn’t think STEM courses required so much time, but boy was I wrong & I don’t mind the work, I LOVE learning, I just wish I didn’t have to work so much so I could dedicate all of my time to my studies...I don’t mean to sound like a sob story, but then again this is my tumblr...that I never login on and no one reads lol

i can hear it in his voice and that means so much to me, for an artist to be that vulnerable, this song makes me teary eyed every time i listen to it. i cant imagine the pain he must have been going through with all of his insecurities 

the complete antithesis to “i”

Jay Z songs have made me teary eyed because of his passion and hunger on a track and although these two traits are present in the way i feel towards this song...it’s different... this song is way more emotional than any song i have ever heard before

& on this album...Kendrick Lamar the poet is back

Two of my friends said this album wasn’t hip hop & i quickly responded with this is the very essence of hip hop! you have funk, soul and jazz the summation of these genres is what hip hop began as before it entered mainstream wavelengths. Kendrick plays with conscious rap and a fun, but HONEST delivery on this album 

I HATE ratings when it comes to music/albums, I think it’s okay for movies, but how can AFTER ONE DAY...NOT EVEN ONE DAY some random reviewer at X magazine say that an album is  worthy of blank amount of stars? I don’t understand that concept...Kendrick Lamar spent lord knows how long on this album and you’re telling me blank reviewer spent less than a day! judging To Pimp A Butterfly?? not only that, BUT you can’t go through Lamars dense lyrics in one sitting...heck not even two full run throughs..how are you going to catch every double/triple entendre...? did you know Chad died and that’s what who he refers to in these bars? Did you listen to Lamar when he first began on Overly dedicated, Section 80 ...etc.? Also, the title!  great hip hop makes you think critically

It’s up to us as consumers of this music to take our time and digest it slowly, it deserves to be listened to carefully, analyzed...a rating won’t change the way I feel about an album
