A/N: Thank you for this request!! I loved the idea, it’s a short and sweet oneshot. I wanted it to be a slice of life… but it could be a potentially longer one!! If requested…

When you were asked to perform at Glastonbury you were a bit hesitant about accepting, it was new and nerve wrecking.
You had appeared in the pop charts as a solo singer but you didn’t dream of performing to such a large crowd for hours on end. But you weren’t a big artist, with your latest EP released the week before Glastonbury was meant to begin.
You didn’t feel that confident to perform, the nerves and uncertainty about how the crowd would react put you off.
However, when you looked at the proposed artist lists and their placements. You felt more relaxed, you were grouped with the newer and upcoming artists. Your fingers ran down the page stopping on the familiar name of DJO.
He was a good singer, you had seen his tour broadcast online from followers, family and friends. You were a fan and it calmed you that he was on the same stage as you.
His agent had organised a meet up a few years ago, it was brief and awkward but you didn’t expect him to remember you.
On the day of your performance, your nerves raising higher and higher as you watched other artists play. Some better than others, knowing that you were soon to be next.
You were before DJO in the set list, jumping from foot to foot to calm your nerves as you watch the interaction from the crowd.
“Hey, you nervous?” His voice came from behind you, startling you a little.
Stopping your frantic jumping in case it was weird, you turned to face him. He was much prettier in person, those brown eyes boring into you.
Your cheeks flushed red as you realised he was awaiting on an answer.
“Yes, a little. I haven’t performed to a crowd this big” you laughed off your nerves.
He smiled at you, stepping closer.
“I’ll let you in on a secret” he leant closer to you and whispered something in your ear.
Your nerves did subside at his advice, you smiled back at him and mumbled a thank you. Before you were called forward, he gave your arm a slight stroke before you were prepped and pushed on stage.
Closing your eyes and taking a deep breath, you allowed the music to begin.
“Hello, Glastonbury” you shouted into the crowd.
Hearing a roar of cheers in reply, you began to play your first song. Moving in time with the music, the crowd began to sing and dance with you.
After a few songs, your eyes flickered to backstage but you were disappointed when you didn’t see Joe standing there.
Breathing through your emotions, you turned to the crowd once more. Until your eyes focused on a small sign, squinting you called for the camera to pick up the words.
It read: DJO supports you!
In bold lettering, he lowered the sign and began to cheer. Moving along with the friends he was with, your smile widened as his eyes followed you.
He stayed in the crowd until you were near the end of your set. You knew that he would preparing for his own, you performed your last song and thanked the crowd. Receiving a very enthusiastic applause.
Your confidence was through the roof, enough so that you rushed to find Joe. He wasn’t too far for you to find, his ear tech was wiggling around with the piece when Joe waved you over.
“Great set” he said with a smile, his eyes looking at the tech.
“Thanks, I loved the sign” you said with a wink.
He smiled back, leaning over despite the shouts of the tech and fished out the exact sign with his writing on it. He handed it to you without any words whilst he waited for the tech to finish.
Your dressing room wasn’t too far away, so you dipped away from them. Inside you searched for a pen, finding only a purple marker. You flipped the sign over, trying to write something neatly on the back.
Hiding it behind you as you walked over to watch Joe ready himself to go on stage, placing the sign quietly beside you.
He waved you over, his ear tech had disappeared a while ago. Leaving Joe to do a similar thing to you, stare at the crowd whilst the other artist performed.
“The crowd were good. Very fun. Though don’t out do yourself, go with the flow” you said with a smile.
His eyes were once again on you, looking you up and down with a shy smile.
“Thank you” he leant over and pecked your cheek.
Within seconds, the previous artist appeared off stage and his name was being called. You squeezed his arm as he hurried onto stage, you watched him for a second before grabbing the sign.
Nervously, you appeared by the group he was with before. Explaining them your plan, waving the sign with Joe’s writing on it.
Natalia waved you next to her with Charlie to right, she held the sign down for a few moments. Telling you that it was all about timing, you didn’t want to raise it too early.
But you held it down until your arms were doing to drop off, towards the middle of his set. She lifted the sign up high with you, waving it energetically in the air.
His eyes fell into yours with a cheeky smile, his lips were against the microphone as they readied the next song.
“This next song is a very pretty singer whom I met today” he grinned, licking his lips before beginning the song.
You cheered and whooped as he performed The End Of The Beginning, your own voice was growing hoarse by the end of the set list.
Sweat clung to your body as the group threw their arms around you for Back On You. When Joe thanked the crowd and disappeared off stage, you were rushed with the group to greet him.
Charlie and the rest of the group greeted him first, leaving you to watch from behind with the sign in tow.
They dropped away from Joe, Charlie began to watch the next artist perform as Joe stepped forward towards you.
“Hey” he said with a soft sigh.
“Hey” you copied with a light laugh.
“Fancy going somewhere quieter” he suggested, looking back at his friends beforehand.
They were too preoccupied with watching the acts that they didn’t notice you slip away into one of the dressing rooms.
You sat down with him on one of the chairs, his hair was clinging to his forehead as he smiled at you.
“It was nice seeing another familiar face in the crowd” he said, breaking the silence.
“I could say the same about you, I was very nervous” you said.
“Well we don’t know what the crowd was like, thank you for the advice” he smiled, leaning closer.
You began to ask him about the difference performing on the stage and touring, you wanted to plan a tour if your followers grew.
He discussed the ins and out, explaining what he preferred before complimenting your music.
“I enjoyed your latest EP. The song Chasing you, is on my playlist” he said, his voice breaking slightly.
You blushed at his compliment, deciding to give the same support back to him.
It wasn’t long before you both decided to explore the festival together, photos were taken of you both walking through the grass.
“I do remember you, you know. That awkward meet up” he said as you navigated the crowds.
“Me too, this one was much better” you smiled at him.
“I hope the rest of our meet ups are this fun” he smiled back at you politely, his eyes bouncing from stage to stall.
The sides of sign were broadcasted onto every social media site, enough that towards the end of the night. Joe asked for your socials, standing closer together when you swapped them.
He hugged you as you parted ways at the end of the night, you felt much more confident and slightly relaxed when you entered your bedroom that night.
You hoped that he messaged you in the next few days, you were excited for what the future holds.
