âI think this Prefect is pretty fine on her ownâŠbut she always appreciates company.â Evie rolled her eyes. âThatâs not what I meant.â She turned the label towards Stevie. âI mean the brand. It was like a pound and a have at the local Sainsbury, so thatâs what the bums in the alley next to my mum and Iâs flat drank. Therefore, itâs the bum whiskey.â
Stevieâs smile faltered at her, and he rolled his eyes. He was only trying to be kind, but apparently she was quite high on herself. âRight. Well Evie Iâm going to leave you with the bottle then, seeing as you know how to use it best.âhe offered with a tired look and shrugged. âSee you âround.âhe dismissed, giving one last glance at his pile of pictures, and then descending the stairs.
Strain || Lux & Stevie
@lux-klausen
His smile turned rueful at his (former?) friendâs brisk greeting. He resisted the urge to shrug his shoulders up defensively, or start bouncing on the balls of his feet again, though his hand did start tapping against his thigh where it was tucked into his loose robe pockets. He was sorely tempted to take Stevie up on his offer, to blurt yes and jog in the opposite direction. ButâŠ
Lux shot him a sarcastic look, but his tone was as even as Stevieâs when he looked. âActually one of our classmates was murdered awhile back, so letâs both of us pretend weâre all good for an hour and avoid muggle horror movie tropes that get people killed like âletâs split upâ.â He sighed. âCâmon Stevie, canât we suck it up and make awkward small talk for an hour?â
Stevie shifted his weight from left to right as he noticed the small bump that came and disappeared under Luxâs robes. Biting his lip, he ran his hand threw his hair, and rolled his eyes at the sarcastic look. Naturally.
âIâd rather not make awkward small talk.âhe clucked his tongue on the âkâ and then shrugged his shoulders. âLetâs not be the first victim in a horror film, hmm?âhe offered with a tight lipped smile. Lux was right, but that didnât mean Stevie needed to give him the satisfaction. âLetâs try for no anxious ticks too.âhe offered his shoulder as he began to walk the halls.
âItâs fine, it was a prank and I didnât think anything less for field day.â
Strain || Lux & Stevie
Lux tapped a small clear packet against his hand anxiously, frowning at the green powder contents and his own frantic energy. Anyone who had known Lux for longer than a week knew that he didnât handle tense situations well. He didnât like conflict, drama, or high emotions. When given the chance, he would almost always choose to avoid a potentially uncomfortable situation altogether. However this time, he hadnât been given the choice- prefect rounds were mandatory, and the partner rotation wasnât something he had the authority to change.
Giving up, he tapped a small amount of the calma soro on his tongue and quickly tucked the small bag away. He would definitely want it later, and it spared him having to pull it out later in front of Stevie and suffer either a lecture or a disappointed, angry look. This next hour was going to be bad enough.Â
As if on cue, Lux noticed a familiar face making his way towards him and he offered a smile, a genuine as he could manage. Just because things were- the way they were didnât mean he was going to make things worse by being rude. âHey Stevie, howâs it going?â he greeted calmly, raising his hand in a half attempt at a wave before shoving his hands in his robe pockets. âReady to get started?â
Stevieâs means of ignoring how he was feeling was finding every minute to do something and go from night to day. If he was thinking about exams, duties or people then he himself didnât need time to think. It was reasonable. Yet as he crept closer he began to feel Luxâs presence.
His brain felt like it was short circuiting and once Stevie passed one student and then another he could see the boy clearly. The smile popped up with such ease that Stevieâs feet began to slow. Were they on friendly terms? The boy slowed as he made his way closer. âLetâs get started.âHe insisted, glossing over Luxâs former question.
âSo if youâd like we can split up sections to save more time for prosperity.âhe offered evenly.

@lia-villace
âYup.â Lia stated. âTons.â One would have been a ton, really. âBut thatâs exciting! What house do you think theyâre gonna be in? We can have a bet.â She said slyly. âYou can give me their stats and weâll both pick a house. See who wins start of next year.â
Stevie finished of his shading, his pointer finger pressing into the parchment, and pausing at her question. He hadnât really thought about it much, he just wanted his siblings with him. Granted heâd only be in school with Jamie. âHum, here.âhe offered instead, gesturing toward the girl, while holding the parchment.

@aineohannigan
âYou canât really bore me with something I choose to do willingly.â Aine pointed out. âBut itâs your business if you donât want to tell me.â
Stevie looked at the girl, and the way Aine appeared. Did she know she looked cold? Stevie couldnât be sure, but he was growing increasingly more uncomfortable as time ticket by, and he wasnât good at sharing. At least not with people he didnât share with. âCan I walk you back to your common room?âhe answered in question in stead. Evading the curiosity was Stevieâs best policy, and he figured that if Hannigan was here than perhaps Professor Tyler may be close behind if she was in fact insightful.
@thegoodecallalily
Calla smiled politely, fiddling with her hair before she actually responded. âWell, I might have misread the last few lines of the translation piece. I was comparing answers with Professor Alfredsson, and while she did say she wouldnât mindâŠI donât know, Stevie.â She sighed, her shoulders dropping. âBeing the only person in your class can be somewhat of aâŠstressful situation sometimes.â Turning to him, Calla gave him a small smile, trying to ease her own worry. âHow about you? How do you find it?â
Stevie was beginning to feel normal, as normal as he could around the girl, but then a question heâd been ignoring since he began to talk to her crept up to the forefront of his mind. âYou donât know a lot do you.âhis mind quipped as he tilted his head at the girl, smiling still, and shrugging. âI enjoy it.â
âListen, Calla, Iâve got to go now... uhm. Iâll see you around alright?â
@wallace-quimby
Wallace knew they were both perfectly aware of what Stevie was talking about. They did only have one mutual interest. He looked down for a second, contemplating, before meeting Stevieâs eyes again. âAnd not, say, I dunno⊠you?â Wallace asked calmly. It was a guess he was willing to push at, just in case it was accurate.
Stevieâs bones stacked on themselves as he stared hard at the boy. This wasnât a conversation where Stevie wanted to give answers - he just wanted answers. After a brief moment, the boyâs tongue swiped his bottom lip, and all at once Stevie began to gather his things. How heâd found himself on the ledge in a courtyard with Wallace Quimby of all people, and why he asked to sketch the boy was beyond him. Perhaps to be closer in some way to Lux? Stevie wasnât grounded in answers, just more questions. âI donât know what youâre on about.âStevie spat, not meaning too, but his tone came out harder and sharper than he intended. âHere.âhe muttered as he bunched the paper up of the boyâs face and tossing  at him underhand.

With permission from Jourdana, Liam ran about the moonlight basked hallways in search of his trusty notebook. He had been literally on every floor in the castle that day looking for interviews and researching for a personal project. Remembering that he set it down to explain his survey to Professor Tyler, he headed for her classroom. He peered into the room, still thinking it rude just to burst in without permission. Instead of a professor, his eyes met with that of Stevie Hooperâs. âAy, pal. What you doing here this time of night?â
Stevieâs eyes twitched at the peek of a head into the classroom. Couldnât people be left alone, let alone be in their common rooms. âIâm on duty.âhe grumbled out, unlike his normal chipper tone, and leaning back against his chair. He didnât talk a whole lot with Liam Lumley, but he wasnât a bad bloke at all. Being a Hufflepuff meant he was generally polite, but right now was not a time he wanted company. âWhy are you in the Astronomy tower?â
cheap trick | grace & stevie
The eveningâs patrol hadnât yielded anything, which was unusual for a Saturday night. Grace was pretty eager to get to bed, but patrolling with Stevie was at least not as awkward as it would be if she was with, say, Lux Klausen or Astor Goode. She and Hopper at least got along, and they hadnât had the same sort of tension between them as sheâd had with certain others lately.
She clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth, before starting in on her turn for their game of Would You Rather with, âClean everyoneâs cauldrons after Potions, or have extra assignments in every classâoh, dear.â They rounded the corner of the hallway, and Graceâs eyes narrowed on a student whose head was bowed and their face covered by their hands. She drew her wand, and took quick steps towards them. âAre you alright?â
@stevie-hopper
âRaleigh donât just throw up your wand at them.âhe chided in a gently manor, raising his hand toward Grace as he took shortened strides towards the student. While they were always on patrol, and most people saw Prefects as police more than just helpers of the student body, Stevie didnât really think raising a wand was necessary. Not that he hadnât come across some vicious peers as of late.Â
âExtra assignments.âhe murmured over his shoulder as he hunched his shoulders and scratched at his nape. âAre you -âhe began at the student but as soon as Stevieâs hand came to clasp on the student something very sinister occurred: His hand went to clasp, a chuckle was heard distantly, and then suddenly the sound of a balloon fizzling out before - BOOM. A loud crack echoed against the walls as an explosion occurred before them.

@wallace-quimby
âRight you areâŠâ Wallace said absently, his gaze being drawn to Hopperâs face and his look of irritation. He clearly wasnât really wanted hereâso why had he been asked to sit? Obligation to Lux, came the answer, easily rising to the surface of his reasoning. Well, if thatâs the case. Wallace wasnât in the mood to indulge someone, not even for Luxâs sake, and if Stevie wasnât providing adequate occupation, heâd find it elsewhere. Quietly he remarked, âPerhaps you should try still-life next time, Steven. A fruit basketâd probably suit your needs better, conversation-wise.â He gave the other boy a brief smile before rising to leave.
âMy names not Steven.âhe quipped back with a narrow of his eyes, watching the boy rise, and biting his bottom lip. âI just donât get it. I donât get why it had to be you.âhe said after a pregnant pause.

Pascal hissed a bit at the new face, but once Evie tossed a treat down to him, he was a happy camper. âWell, Iâm already being an uncharacteristic rule breaker.â She strutted over and plucked the bottle from the elder prefectâs hand. âSo,â she paused as the burning liquid slid easily down her throat. âWhat brings you to the shadows this evening, Mr. Hopper? And why are you drinking bum whiskey?â
Having siblings meant ignoring things, even the little things, and Stevie found himself glossing over the creature entirely. âI mean youâre safe with a prefect.âHe shrugged lazily, but he could understand that. âNot all of us have money Miss Waite.âhe countered with an arched brow.
Foresight In a Bottle
@aineohannigan âA moment.â Aine repeated before nodding her head. âAlright. Shall I inquire about what unfortunate circumstances have resulted in you partaking in your ânew ventureâ or would you like to keep it to yourself?â
âI donât think youâre remotely interested in hearing and I donât want to bore you.âhe dismissed with polite ease.
@lia-villace âOh,â Lia said rather surprised. âWell, thatâs kind of you. Do you have a lot of siblings then? Do you miss them?â
âI have three, and the oldest turns eleven this year and I think may come to Hogwarts... Iâm not sure about the others - oh yeah I miss them tons.â
