okay but the way bucky barnes was helpless on the ground after his arm got blown off, he was barely able to move - but when steve was in danger bucky grabbed tony’s leg. the last move he could possibly be capable of was this weak, desperate grab at tony’s armed suit, just to delay tony, do anything to give steve a chance. bucky had no defense, no plan, no way of stopping a counter attack that was sure to (and did) happen. but he did it anyway, because everything else be damned, he has to protect his friend who has gone through all of this to protect him, even and most especially when he feels like he wasn’t worth protecting.
when marvel tries to give you staron 5 minutes after peggy’s funeral:

Easiest solution to the Sokovia Accords
Send Tony Stark’s ass to prison.
I just read this article about how RDJ pushed for more screentime and had Cap3 changed from a proper sequel to the Winter Soldier to Civil War. So, to quote the article “ The smart money was on a third film focusing on the Winter Soldier’s rehabilitation: a redemption arc for Bucky Barnes and closure for Steve Rogers. (…) So if Civil War turns out to be an unsatisfying conclusion to The Winter Soldier, fans have an all-too pragmatic explanation to blame: Robert Downey Jr.’s contract negotiations.”
I don’t thank you for being so close in character to Tony Stark that you don’t know when it’s time to take a step back and let the others shine, Mr Downey Jr. Iron Man is an interesting character, but he already has the most screen time in the MCU, between his own movies and his huge lead role in the Avengers movies. I’m mad that screen time had to be taken from characters who deserved a proper development.
the Russos: ok great so now that we have the foundation for Steve and Bucky’s characters and past relationship, we can finally take time to explore what that relationship will be now, and how it’s changed, in a movie that will center around their characters
RDJ:
remember when tony shot sam wilson point blank in the chest after he selflessly attempted to save rhodey and then APOLOGISED for not being able to even though the entire thing happened because team iron man were trying to take sam down in the first place?? :))))
marvel says a gay character may even happen before the earth is incinerated by our dying sun
Self harm doesn’t always happen when a blade touches skin.
It’s skipping meals because you don’t feel like you deserve to eat today. It’s having sex because you want to be used or abused or defiled. It’s drinking recklessly because you might have the ‘courage’ do something stupid. It’s smoking - not because you need the nicotine - because you know it’s bad for you. It’s banging your head against a wall when you’re angry. It’s crossing the road without looking because you lowkey hope a car might hit you. It’s thinking about all the ways you could break a bone and make it look like an accident. It’s not taking painkillers because you want to suffer. It’s taking painkillers in excess because you know it’s dangerous. It’s walking home the more dangerous way because you’re kind of half hoping you’ll get attacked or raped or stabbed. It’s going for long walks at night and getting chilled to the bone and hoping that you get lost so that you can’t find your way back. It’s seeking out triggering material. It’s all the stupid little ways you punish yourself for existing.
Sometimes self harm happens when you put effort into depriving yourself of things you like or need, and sometimes it happens when you don’t put any effort into doing the things you like or need.
It’s a pattern of self-destructive behaviour, and it doesn’t only happen in one way.
“Some of my colleagues tell me they can’t imagine working in pediatrics. Millions of years of evolution have conditioned us to respond to the cries of a child. We can’t bear to see a child in pain. And once we have children of our own, it makes the work even more difficult. We all handle it differently, but everyone cries at some point. Not in front of the patient, but everyone cries. Every few months we have a ceremony where we mourn all the children who have passed away. We have a slideshow. We make cards. We talk about them and remember them together. We acknowledge that we all feel the loss. And even though our grief is not as significant as the family’s, it’s not trivial either. And we must take time to acknowledge that. Or all of us will burn out.”
I’m glad there’s finally a term for this type of asshole.
Steve and the Sokovia Accords
I keep seeing a lot of posts about how Steve was in the wrong in CACW because while Tony had a plan, Steve didn’t offer any alternative to it, he was just like NOPE. The thing is though, something that immediately struck me when I watched the movie was the timing of everything. Ross and Tony bring Steve and the others the Accords THREE DAYS before they are to be signed. Those Accords were not drafted, approved and supported by 117 countries in a week. This was 100% intentional. This is also very, very common in American politics. When politicians want to pass a bill they don’t want people to look at closely, they schedule votes at weird times or when a large # of people are away from the Hill (Capital Hill). So you get these 11th hour bills that are hundreds of pages long that no one has had a chance to read, ask questions about, or negotiate on about changes. These bills are stuffed with completely unrelated stuff that gets passed as well because the whole thing has to be signed off on/approved. It’s called “pork barreling.” Those are the questions Steve tries to bring up to the group. When he’s like ‘what happens when…?’ And Tony brushes aside his concerns like ‘oh, I’m sure we’ll get to make changes later when everything dies down.’ But Steve is like what are we agreeing to NOW though? And practically as soon as they are given the “generous” 3 day warning, Peggy dies. Steve flies off to London and everything goes to hell. What time is there to propose or discuss an alternative plan?? The timing was 100% intentional to make sure the Avengers would be subject to the Accords as written–no matter what was lurking on the bottom of page 440 in fine print. Steve is 100% right to be suspicious. This is one of the dirty tricks of American politics that Steve would be totally aware of. And sure, maybe there’s a chance that everything was above board, reasonable, and so on, but you would NEVER sign a thing like that w/o actually checking/reading it. that would be foolish. I mean, did we forget that Project Insight was authorized and approved by The World Council? I guarantee you that Steve hasn’t. I absolutely believe that Steve would have been willing to talk everything out, negotiate, listen to everyone’s pov, and really consider everything carefully…but there’s no time given to do that. It’s all last minute, non-negotiable, and shady. Steve is a master tactician, natural leader, and a reasonable, thoughtful person who is a Big Picture thinker. It’s weird that people just assume he rejects the Accords because he’s being childish or something. That’s not Steve Rogers at all.
Tony: I can't believe you brought Clint into this, how irresponsible.
Tony: *recruits a 15 year old he found on youtube*
