hi, it’s tofu! - this is a blog for a fandomless cyclops-rabbit monster oc named harley in a modern-fantasy world (b/c monsters exist, yay!). they really want to be an actor but have a bad and cynical attitude about life + have awful impulsive decisions + is a janitor for a theater. they need friends….. please give them friends….
we’re all counting on you, kid. good luck.
@voliition
THE STARS ARE PRETTY. SPARKLE AT NIGHT. MAKE SHAPES.
the child remembers gazing upwards into a dark sky, barely decorated with pinpoints of light that never seemed to go away. other kids had said they all meant something, like other worlds far far away, but that all seemed too grand for frisk to understand.
I ONLY THINK THEY LOOK NICE. LIKE SOMEONE PUT THEM THERE. WHO DO YOU THINK DID THAT?
@bravest
O-L-I-V-I-A IS A NICE NAME.
they’re smiling at the other, fingerspelling olivia’s name upon their fingers to themselves and getting a feel for it.
IT IS EASY TO SPELL. IT SOUNDS NICE. DID YOU PICK IT?

@sparemercy
NOT GOOD THIS YEAR
they slump in their chair, arms cradling their chin as feet just barely brush against the ground as they swing back and forth.
DID SOME BAD THINGS PRANKS. MEAN NAMES. MOM SAYS I WILL BE NAUGHTY FOR GYFTMAS.
WHAT ABOUT YOU?
@kxndncss
I AM GROWING
they pat their own head, eyes squinting to determine the other’s height and wonder how long it’ll take for them to be as tall as the elder skeleton. they’re nearly at the top of sans’ skull, denying him the chance to let a bony hand ruffle their hair after they had so neatly brushed it down smooth in the morning.
SOMEDAY I WILL NOT BE SMALL I WILL BE AS GRAND AS YOU ARE YOU READY?
selective starter call!
everyone’s home // underveil the sequel
@warvigilante
BAD DREAM.
they rub their fingers together and only feel tender skin instead of something rough, something gritty, something that falls through the gaps of their digits. the erratic beating in their body is something they know now to be their own heart, but it almost felt like it was outside of their small form when they saw the golden flower and silver blade. it was enough to wake them in a sweat and sit up, clutching their shirt, almost clawing at it to find something within their chest that might not be their own.
SORRY I WOKE YOU UP.
even in the dark of night they have sincerity written along their face, looking to the other despite shaking hands.
CAN I STAY? WANT TO BE WITH YOU.

GENOCII ASKED: tell us abt their parents!!! were they kind? were they the reason frisk fell down? their jobs? personalities?
lol ok here we go.
it’s a story of romeo and juliet.
they met when they were still young. she was 18, he was a year older. she was from England and he was from Germany, met by pure chance in some odd place and they couldn’t stand to be without each other when they got past the “hello”s. with time they planted a seed. with love they grew something real. they felt like it was true, and devoted themselves wholly to each other as young dumb people in love do. there were no regrets on either side but as time went on it was clear that the two could not realistically stay with each other: their families didn’t trust each other, the distance between them was far too great, and lots of sparks flew between their families. about how strange the other was, how different they were, and how that no one but those two truly got along. in the end while no family outright hated the other. the couple was never truly approved.
“romeo” was uncouth, loud mouthed, displaced in almost any setting. he always spoke his mind even if it seems out of place but he was honest to a fault. there was nothing that he kept secret, especially from his family. his upbringing was based on impulsive action, with a family that never liked to stay place whether that be physical location or personal stances. with that, he took on challenges with gritted teeth and learned from failures, but never took “no” for answer if he truly believed his deeds were for good. there was always a rush to his actions, to move onto the next thing and simply pass through. he thought fast but never thoroughly. there were no such things as rules in his mind and only believed in a system of trial-and-error. his motormouth led him to taking up the habit of jokes, with humor that struck many as odd but never failed to get a rise. he was stubborn, sometimes block-headed, persistent and hardy. to many he was the most reliable person to turn to, with loyalty greater than man’s best friend. to some he was a true hero. to frisk, or farren, he was their only real family, and carried his last name - Roske, “one who is swift”.
“juliet” was frail, clumsy, absentminded and shy to the point of silent, blending into the background. she never held grudges towards others, or kept promises for that matter, but all that she did was in earnest and honesty. her family was one that was static, never moving or swaying to the whims of the people around them as they kept their beliefs true, almost to the point of xenophobia. she stayed true to tradition save for the one exception of him. her heart was captured by his adventures he would bring her on but she saw a softer side to the adrenaline that wouldn’t have been noticed otherwise. she was kind to everyone who stepped into her life; pure and good that some were pitiful to the day she would have to learn the hardships of life. but that kindness and complacency was built from submissiveness, never having a real grip on her life or what she wanted to do until she met “romeo”. he hated that fact, that she was so willing just because she was taught to be. he helped her build her independence, to have her own voice, to take charge of what she wanted.
the both of them were naive and passionate, honest to each other that the thick book between them had transparent pages. they complimented each other to the point of annoyance of their peers. she kept him soft, appreciating the small moments shared between them, and he showed her the excitement the world could bring if she took a step outside her comfort zone. the only thing that separated them was distance and the onslaught of their respective families but their hearts yearned for each other. they were genuinely kind and good to one another - their love was pure and without malicious intent of using or hurting each other. it was a rare pairing and that of course meant that it would not last long.
frisk’s mother did not expect them, and her pregnancy came as a surprise to both herself, “romeo”, but especially to “juliet’s” family. in short, she was disowned, taken in swiftly by “romeo’s” family in pity, in a sudden change of heart characteristic of his family, but she would die shortly after childbirth because of a combination of her anemia, blood loss in delivery, and her still-developing body being too stressed to carry a child.
she was 19. he was heartbroken. they were born.
even though he would blame himself for her death that he loved them, farren, with all of his heart, and would teach them all he knew of being compassionate like their passed mother but determined like himself. he gave his all to be there for them as a father, and gave up many chances to chase his dreams in order to keep them by his side, as both his beloved child and a constant reminder of what he did to “juliet”. though they are too young at this point to understand the concept of guilt, when farren becomes older, becomes frisk, they will wonder if he loved themselves or the memory of “juliet”.
when the years go by and farren grows out of being a toddler, “romeo” meets another woman and they get married, start a family, and build something that farren never had. though their father would try to include them in all their activities and outings, the other woman never truly accepts them and views them as a bother. “romeo” was there when farren suddenly developed a lump that would begin to choke them, unable to breathe or speak, and he would be there for the rushed tracheotomy that would take away their voice. he would never learn to forgive himself for putting farren through that. a contact came through the mail from “juliet’s” family, who after many years want to know what became of the child. where were they, can they meet them, would they be willing to stay with their family.
if “romeo” had a choice, he would keep farren with him until he could explain the story of the family that could have been when they were older, but couldn’t support them with his new wife and coming children. they were promised to be taken back when things were better, given countless hugs, kisses, tears, given a photograph of the small moment of time where their mother and father held them in their arms, and sent to “juliet’s” family to stay with them for an undetermined amount of time.
in being out of place in their family, with people who viewed them strangely, they were eventually left unsupervised outside, wandering for a long time without a voice to call for help or for mom or dad. in climbing up a hill they would trip over a root, tumble down towards a hole atop a mountain they didn’t realize belonged in legend, and fall into the underground.
@stickid said: IF I GIVE YOU ONE YOU CAN GIVE ME ONE. FAIR. FEARLESS RISK AND FRISU HAVE CHARM. NICKNAMES HAVE M-E-M-O-R-I-E-S.
ACT: NAME?
Their counterpart is absolutely correct in that their nicknames have charm. Mama had been the one to give them that name and Frisu had more or less named themselves. They deserve a fitting name.
“I like Root.”
Strong, reliable, something that thrived just below the surface as it helped something bigger than it grow. Yes, they were fond of Root.
