So not that anyone cares and even though I have learned this year that people who hate Max and have decided to hold everything under the sun against him don't care about hearing anyone else's opinions, but I have a few things to say.
1. The whole situation surrounding this picture from Silverstone this year.
I know a lot of people today took this particular picture as proof of FIA's apparent favoring of Max and Checo, knowing Checo didn't get a penalty for apparently going off track and gaining an advantage. There's a distinct difference between these two moments, when Checo went off track, it happened as a consequence of racing wheel to wheel with Charles, he went over the curb and lost time and as a result lost position to Hamilton behind him. He managed to stay ahead of Charles, only because Charles himself went off track on his older tires, they both lost positions to Hamilton. This is where the whole "through goes Hamilton" moment happened.
What happened today was completely different, Charles cut the corner and gained an advantage, even he said so himself in press conference after, confirming the penalty was fair.
2. The difference between how Checo's penalty was handled last week and how it was handled today. Again a lot of people claimed this happened so Max could win the title. Both situations resulted in a 5 second penalty, yes Checo got a chance to speak to the stewards and Charles didn't but I honestly don't know what difference that would make.
There was a moment in Monaco this year, a driver, I'm not 100% sure who, I think it was Albon who got a 5 second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage. I remember it because I found it so funny that someone could actually do that in Monaco of all places. My point is, there was no summons to the stewards, the penalty was decided during the race.
Again I'm not sure what constitutes an incident being investigated after the race and during the race, but considering both situations were penalized with a 5 second penalty, and there have been situations when the same penalty was given the same way this season (Albon example) I don't think it needs to be blown up like this.
3. Lastly, the whole "Max didn't get a penalty yesterday, why did Charles get one today" debate. I mean I can't believe this really needs to be said but one driver not getting penalized doesn't mean no driver will get penalized either. Same way as if one driver getting penalized doesn't mean they will all automatically get penalized. We're talking about two very different situations of course they're not going to automatically be penalized the same.
Max' situation was handled in accordance with their own precedent (Hamilton Brasil 2018), there was no impeding, neither Max nor Lando were on a fast lap, they both got a chance at two fast laps in Q3, so a reprimand made sense and again it was in accordance with the way similar situations were handled in the past. Just because it was Max who didn't get penalized doesn't mean that it's automatically a fix from the FIA, there's a lot of situations both in qualifying and the race that don't even get investigated let alone penalized. Again Charles made a mistake today, he admitted to it and said his penalty was fair. Why you think you know better than the actual driver in the car is not something I understand.
The whole Max "got gifted another championship" narrative is so ridiculous it's pointless to even talk about it. If you think a driver who's won 66% of the races this year, has over a 100 point lead 4 races before the end of the season and managed to get a 27 second advantage in 28 laps of racing got gifted anything, that's your problem and maybe this sport isn't for you.
Anyways, that's all I have to say.
