YOU DONT NEED MOTIVATION JUST MOMENTUM ;
what is that you've been putting off? is it schoolwork that u need to catch up on? maybe you want to go to the gym or do restock shopping. whatever it is, break it down into the simplest thing that u can do first.
for example if u want to go to the gym but u don't have the motivation, the simplest thing you could do is get up and put your gym clothes on. the psychology behind this is that once your gym clothes are on, our brains tend to go "well since our clothes are on we might as well go to the gym".
❤︎ do one thing for 5 minutes and that'll snowball
❤︎ momentum in productivity is an action that generates another action
same thing with schoolwork. if u have an essay you've been putting off, tell yourself to just write the heading and the first few sentences. wait five minutes and revisit it. we won't always have the motivation, but momentum will always work.
GET UP AND GET DRESSED ;
when you look good -> you feel good. i find that i literally can't be stressed when im cute. getting up and getting ready every single day gives you momentum which we talked about in the previous section, it also makes you feel so ready for the day!
taking a shower, doing your makeup and your hair even if ur not going anywhere can do wonders! it helps me think clearer and gives me momentum for my day. i like to keep things simple so i don't get overwhelmed. just a skin tint with some blush and mascara... and while im at it i do my lip combo bcuz MOMENTUM. i might as well.
MAKE A SHORT LIST OF TASKS ;
now that your all ready make a short list of tasks. start with three, if ur feeling ambitious go for 3-7 tasks. none should take u longer than 10 minutes. i recommend listing the following...
❤︎ one task to move ur body
❤︎ one task to clear ur space
❤︎ and one beauty related task
REWARD YOURSELF ;
absolutely non-negotiable. when u finish ur short list make sure to reward yourself! this helps ur brain to associate "doing things" with "good things happening after." nothing dramatic, in fact, smaller rewards work better in my experience bcuz u can do them more often.
❤︎ your favorite drink
❤︎ an episode of your favorite show
❤︎ lighting a limited edition candle
are just some examples that you can use to reward yourself! your literally training urself to chase that momentum instead of waiting on the motivation that, spoiler alert, won't come. the more you reward yourself, the easier it becomes to start next time.
moving forward is hot! and totally doable no matter how long you've been in a slump. dust yourself off, you've got this. momentum will stack and before you know it you'll have gotten so much done and feel so glittery...💬🎀
