autism is literally one of the disorders that is safest to diagnose without the help of a professional. it doesn’t have many main symptoms that overlap with other stuff like personality disorders, and it doesn’t come from trauma or environment so it’s always been there therefore you don’t have to take into consideration all those factors.

if you talk to a few autistic people who know you well enough and you compare your symptoms knowing what they actually means (e.g. special interest isn’t just liking something) and they say you’re autistic, you can say you’re autistic. it’s okay. use it to explain to both yourself and others whom you trust why you do certain things or to find advice and whatnot. it’s fine.
