How do you know when to move the shoulder straps up on an infant carseat?

The straps should be higher than their shoulders. So move them up once you notice they’re below :)

This is really dangerous advice… The straps should be at or below for rear facing.

Even when we switched our 3in1 it still says below or at the shoulders. I don't believe it should ever be higher. You know to move it up when your child's head is almost over the head rest, very top of head. That is the worst advice I have seen come from thedigimoms....

How many weeks were you when you went into labour with your first baby?? Hoping to get lots of answers :-)

I was induced at 41 weeks, 5 days! Had him via cesarean 41 weeks, 6 days!

Not trying to call you out, or look for judgment, literally just curious. Chey mentioned in a reply about milk that she doesnt agree with giving cows milk to infants because its weird. I was just wondering why or what makes it weird.

I don’t “not agree” with people feeding their kids milk, per say, what I don’t agree with is this weird culture of treating it as MANDATORY. I don’t believe that it’s something every family *has* to do, yet many books and sites treat it as a must.

I don’t usually champion against it, I just like parents to know all their options.

The hard part about choosing not to feed your children cows milk is that the nutritional needs are hard to match. Almond milk, soy milk and rice milk do NOT provide adequate fat or nutrients to replace cows milk in babies or pregnant women. Our family drinks hemp milk, flax milk, and coconut milk. For a child, I would probably go full hemp for the fat and calories.

As far as what’s “weird” about it, it’s very personal I guess. It’s hard for me to explain what’s weird about housing animals, impregnating them, and then pumping milk from them for our own children far after theirs mature. I don’t think any other mammals even drink the milk of other animals. To me, based largely on my hippie upbringing I guess, it’s never seemed natural.

I’m trying to tread lightly however because I realize that my ability to not buy milk is only existent because I’m privileged enough to have a choice. WIC covers cows milk, not flax milk, and these higher nutrition milk alternatives are not something every family can afford, so I’m really not trying to make a judgement call on those who choose milk. Clearly it has worked for hundreds upon hundreds of years. I don’t think it’s a *bad* thing to do, but that being said, it’s not the only option and I know that until I looked it up, I was really led to believe that it was.

My daughter hated milk for the longest time and my doctor said it wasn't mandatory as long as she was getting other dairy for the fats in it.

I also don't know many people that believe drinking milk as an adult is good for you. A lot of nurses and doctors I have talk to say that we really shouldn't be consuming as much of it as we do.

Well baby boy was born August 24th at 3:53am. He was born at 35 weeks and 1 day. My placenta ruptured. He is doing okay. Having troubles eating but other then that he is doing good. He just gets too tired when eating so he isn't getting enough.

I will be using a new blog to record memories, thoughts, photos, and so on. This blog has become a mess of just re-blogs and I figured I might as start a new one instead. #i read a post once that described 90s kids as the generation of nostalgia #because so much technological advancement happened in such a rapid timeframe when we were growing up #that we can clearly remember having technologies that are now obsolete #like going from a corded hugeass phone to a small computer in your pocket just within our formative years is a major thing #and it sparks a nostalgia for our seemly ‘simpler’ childhoods #because so much rapid development makes it seem like it was a lot longer ago than it actually was (x)

Just to add onto that, our childhood wasn’t even technology based. We grew up knowing of chalk, skateboards, jump rope, street hockey, playgrounds, butterfly collecting, etc. Slowly technology took over our lives and now there are hardly kids playing outside in the summer. We can clearly remember our childhood as it was and now we can see the clear line between it. We were the generation right smack in the middle of it all. Our parents were of non-tech and our children/young siblings will be all tech.

Not to mention, ours was the last generation that grew up with all those bright promises of “work hard, go to college, and you’ll have a successful life,” only to find those hopes abruptly dashed when the housing bubble burst. Milliennials have grown up expecting that disappointment, because for them, the problem has been there since Day One.

So 90s kids aren’t just nostalgic…we’re BITTER. And we ache for those days when we could still think that the world was boundless and full of the opportunities we were promised since the first day of kindergarten.

99% of horses during vet visits...

1. There’s always one or two horses in the barn who know when the vet is there. Maybe they remember the sound of the truck, or they can smell something different about our outfit. They just… somehow… KNOW….

2. That one horse in the barn that’s not being seen, but has to come over and touch all the vet’s stuff, and nose in your pocket, and wants to walk through the not-hot fence to get a closer look at what all the fuss is about…

3. That horse that’s like, perfect and stands perfect, and doesn’t really see what all the fuss is about…

4. …then I pull out a syringe and the calm horse is all like…

5. Then the owner says something like “hold on, me and [horse] need to come to an understanding” … then they kinda do the horse owner “lead rope discussion” without talking…

6. And then you see the horse try really hard to be good for the owner…

7. And then we get the work done, and somebody gives the horse a treat for being so brave and suddenly it’s not so bad having the vet there…

And by the time you finish saying "don't put the key in the light socket, put it in the lock instead" My child would already be electrocuted. However, a light smack on the hand and she will immediately stop what she is doing and then I can explain why she shouldn't do it.

You really think that i see my kid tryna put something in a light socket and try to have a conversation with her while shes still holding the object up to the light socket?

No.

The first thing is removing the child from the situation and then explaining why the behaviour was wrong, and then offering an alternative.

I dont see Bell tryna shove some keys into a light socket and be like “I dont want to interupt what youre doing, but you really should be doing something else.” I see her doing something dangerous and run over and grab her and then explain to her whats wrong.

Why would you rather smack your kid to get them to stop doing something instead of just grab them and move them?

How could a kid stick anything in a “light socket”? That thing just has a switch on to turn the light on and off? Or is this referring to electrical sockets?

I noticed it while i was typing it and i was just like “Eh” ive always heard it called a light socket so ive always called it that but it wasnt until i put it in writing that i realized that was a really weird thin to call them hahah

Lol light sockets. That's cute. Not to be an ass, it really is. I don't get why people don't just get some cheap plug covers and leave it at that. I think we have two of our lower sockets uncovered only because Ella finally has little interest in them now. We do watch what she is doing if she is by them though just in case. We removed the plugs because it's time to teach her and explain why you don't stick things in them. Once the new baby is moving around and trying to put things in them, the plugs will go back in all the lower sockets again.
