I see that you're pro-life but would go so far as to making it illegal to have abortions if it was up to you? Because certain people just don't have what it takes to be parents and the environment the child would be brought up in could be incredibly poor and other complications that would be hurtful for the child's life in which abortion could be an option so that the child would not have to suffer for a parent's failed contraceptives, as they don't work 100% of the time.
Do I believe that a person has the right to murder a child if the child would be brought up in a house hold in which the situation of that house house would be “hurtful for the child’s life”? Well for one, the most hurtful thing you can do to another persons life is take their life away by murder. For two, when I think about a child suffering I usually think about my Mother.
My mother lived in a house hold of unspeakable horror. To talk about my mothers life is both difficult, and shocking. She grew up in a house hold in which abuse in all forms was her daily life. As an infant she was forced to consume alcohol in her bottle, forced to smoke cigarettes as a child, and sold for sex to men even before she could walk so her mother, my grandmother, could get money for various drugs. My mothers siblings were told to abuse each other, and were made to watch the abuse.
The one example I can think of in my mothers life is the night her mother and step father took the children to Jack in the box. Now, this was a once in a life time thing. Growing up in a severely abused house hold, it was unlikely that you would be going out to eat let alone being provided a meal at all that you didn’t have to cook yourself from what remained in the cupboards of a dirty loveless home. When they pulled into Jack-in-the-box, her younger sister (I’m going to tall her Lila, but that is not her real name), Lila, who I believe was about 5, accidentally relieved herself in her underwear. They pulled away from Jack in the box and went home.
When they got home, they ran a bath for Lila. The bath they ran was of water, boiling water. My mother watched as their step father lowered her little sister Lila into the water, as she screamed in from the excruciating pain. When her step father lifted her out of the water, my mom watched her flesh fall off her legs like wet socks. In fact, I remember her telling me that she thought it was in fact wet socks.
My aunt Lila did survive, but I’ve seen the scars on her legs and as a child I often wondered what they were from. I had always assumed by the melted twisted look of her skin they were from a fire.
My Mother is truly an amazing person. She is absolutely beautiful, giving and truly sees the best in all people. As a child she would sit in my brothers and my room and read us long stories like Gulliver’s Travels, and always worked her hardest at everything she did when we were children, and still does. I can think of no other person who has stronger work ethics then my mother. Not only because she does her best regardless of the reward, but that she does it with a loving and joyful heart.
My mothers plays several instruments, and even as a child I remember her singing nearly all of the day. She was a wonderful mother to my brothers and my self, and is still a wonderful mother, grandmother, and wonderful person. She would give anyone the shirt off her back, and honestly when I visit I can’t leave without her giving me all of her favorite belongings.
With the smile on her face, and the love in her heart you cant even tell the horror my mother lived through as a child.
Do I think it would have been better if my Grandmother had aborted my mother instead of abusing her? Absolutely not. I truly wish my Grandmother was not abuse to my mother, but if my mother did not live, I would not be living, my children would not be living, and I would have never have been able to see someone like my mother overcome all odds and still love with her whole heart. Perhaps the most amazing thing about my mother, is she still very much loves her Mother. We actually visit my grandmother often, although to this day she is still an addict. I know the pain in my Mothers heart has been replaced with love and forgiveness, forgiveness that honestly I can hardly understand.
I would like to tell you that my mother lives a very successful life, that she went to school and is living in a large 5 bedroom house with several small dogs, but that just isn’t how my mother is. She lives and values her simple quiet life in the mountains of Idaho. She works very hard for very little, and is very happy. Her life is a success because she knows the value of real happiness, and of real love.
Now, if I apply this information to all people, it is in fact true that generally human kind suffers. Sometimes our suffering is very small, sometimes it is very large, and often it feels unfair. People are without love, food, and other basics, and lots of these people will not be able to find any peace or acceptance and rise up from this suffering to build character. But many do. I would provide you a list of all the people who were born into a life of poverty or other sufferings, but really you just need to take a look at all of the great people of our time. People born with a golden spoon are far less likely to be of good character then those who are born eating with their hands.
So, with all that said, if it was up to me the laws against murder would be applied to all people including people who are in the womb, including people who are dependent and viewed as burdens, people regardless of rage, sex, or status of society. Because life is beyond a basic right, it is a divine gift that should be treasured and protected. Life of another human being cannot be weighed invaluable by another human, for any reason.
I have attached a few photos of my mother (top my mother and I, middle my mother and my brother, and the bottom photo is just my mother).
