He’s very startled, he had no idea, stopped seeing the UG after the game ended. Sometimes he could tell when someone in the RG was a reaper, but that was just guessing usually.

“I… Yeah. It’s about the same, from what I’ve noticed.” Calm Neku, you’re making her mentally panic. Not that she’ll say that, of course. Stubborn child.

“There’s just a few Noise in the area, that’s about it. Not much else that I can really notice.”

The shock is fading and he’s calming down, looking around as if he thinks he’ll suddenly be able to see it again.

He hadn’t asked yet, huh. Well he was focused on his CD so that’s not too surprising. With his prize in hand now he’s feeling much more social. Enough that he’s actually curious about this antagonistic kid. What’s his deal?

Craig didn’t really care that the other hadn’t asked for his name. Free food was nice because it’d keep him out of his house longer and allow Craig to save up his own money like he wanted to. Turning, Craig started walking towards the nearest pizza place, glancing at the other to make sure he was following.

A smile? Seeing such a simple expression on Joshua’s face has blue eyes narrowing in distrust. He’s seen Joshua smirking sure, seen him smiling with his chin in the air, looking down on everything. He’s not sure he’s never seen genuine happiness in his expression before. Why was he happy? Hm…

He did have to admit, he was kind of impressed with how the composer had simply taken his bitter jab in stride. At this rate it’d be childish to keep trying. 

Besides, he didn’t really feel like fighting with this guy anymore…

┘♫┌ “You’re nice and chatty today, when did I earn this much of your trust exactly? You used to dodge all of my questions, but now you’re answering them before I even ask.”

He almost feels bad for doubting the intentions behind being confided in, especially when Joshua was someone he was very curious about. 

After a moment the smile faded from Joshua’s face, and it returned to the usual look of boredom. The hint of happiness still lingered, though, however subdued it was.

“I do believe you earned such a high level of trust from me when you refused to take that shot. As for my previous dodging of questions, well, I was trying to provoke you so that by the time the final duel came, you’d shoot, being nice wasn’t going to help that goal.” He shrugs, telling the honest truth of the situation.

“Of course, it seems I failed that. Hindsight is 20/20 in these things, I think. It’d take a much different set of circumstances for you to shoot, and now, looking back, I don’t think that would’ve been preferred after all.”

Just how miserable had Joshua been before the game? In a weird way Neku felt kind of sorry for him. It’s probably pretty lonely in the UG. The only people to talk to really would be the reapers and Mr.H, and it’s not like the composer could really trust the reapers.

“Sure thing, but there’s not a lot in South Park worth seeing. This place is kind of a hole.”

Still, she led Neku towards the shopping center on the outskirts of town, just about the only place in South Park that was worth exploring. She took a roundabout path, giving him a chance to get used to the layout of the town, but it was pretty straight-forward… even if WHERE certain things were made no sense at all.

“Neh-koo Sah-koo-rah-bah, huh. You Asian or something? Like Mr. Kim?” Not the most tactful of questions, but Sam wasn’t used to people being tactful around her either.

He’s looking around, memorizing the layout. And somewhat concerned. Why aren’t all the shops in one place? Seems like a child made the placement choices. At least the town is small?

Maybe he shouldn’t be antagonizing this guy, but lots of people did different things while angry. And he’s prepared to run away. His pins don’t work in the RG after all and he knows he can’t win a fist fight.

     〔 ₭ 〕”Oh, I look like a bully, huh?” the redhead asked with a grin as he reached into one of the inner pockets of his jacket, palming an item that he held up in front of the teen. “Might as well look the part, then.”

    The redhead pressed the release on his switchblade, letting the sharp-looking blade spring free. He grinned, then, as he approached the stranger, a look of malice in his eyes as he flashed the blade. 

    “So you wanna give me your shit before I cut you like a bitch, or are you gonna try and run away like a pussy?”

He really doesn’t, and he doubts murder is worth a bus pass and a stick of gum. Since that’s all that’s in his pockets right now. He’d left his wallet behind since yen was useless here anyway.

…Welp, this wasn’t the line of questioning Coco had expected. “Like, sometimes, but not today. And my job’s helping people get ready for the Game. Like, giving out basic pins and explain how stuff works.” She’d leave the bits about souls and stuff out for the time being, it was a tiny bit complicated and, quite honestly, a bit of a conversation killer considering the fact her job was pretty morbid.

Now he’s wishing he had met her before. It would have saved him a lot of pain in the first few days. And maybe he’d actually understand why he was so good at pin psyches.

It probably sounds stupid to someone who didn’t mix. Really even to someone who did it was a lazy method. But he couldn’t afford audio synthesizer tech. Not yet anyway. And right he was buying this kid dinner too now wasn’t he?

At first Craig was puzzled by the idea of a cd being that important when it had hardly any actual music on it, but then it dawned on him. The guy was probably going to mess with the sound of it and make something with it. That would make sense and well actually Craig was kind of interested in seeing what exactly it was going to go towards. 

“Pizza?” Craig wasn’t a very picky eater and well he really liked just plain cheese pizza. It would be cheep enough to not piss this guy the fuck off and well satisfying for Craig as a free meal. “There’s a place like a block down.”

Josh smiles, happy to hear that Neku plans on staying human. “Mm, Angels are so dreadfully boring, they get on Hanekoma for being CAT all the time.”

He figured Neku would be all for exploring the world, getting out of Shibuya and seeing all there was to see. Josh didn’t think Neku would be sticking around here for very long, and if he were to learn that, well, he’d be quite surprised, and happy.

“Well, considering this was only the second time I have bet another person’s life on something, and the first person was entirely willing, and I wasn’t even Composer then, I’d have to say no.” He chuckles, twirling his hair around a finger.

“The other person would happen to be my former partner, my original one. They’d agreed to go take on the previous Composer with me, let me get the job, so long as I gave her a fast-track to the top. It’s a shame that some other Players beat her before she had the chance to make any progress.”

He’s not all that angry at the reapers anyway. They were doing their jobs and apparently they’d been playing for their lives too. Plus he hadn’t met this one yet. Kinda hard to be angry at one of the few who hadn’t sicked noise on him.

Coco knew she didn’t exist in every universe, it was just kind of a thing. But errand running?

“Like, not really. I’m just kinda wandering around today. I don’t have any work so like, I’m just seeing what’s going on today.” In this version of Shibuya. “Plus like, I’m not usually the errand runner, my job’s… okay it’s like, kind of errand running, but it’s like, not my job to go out and grab people coffee or anything.”

Though if they asked nicely she probably would because, well, she was out and about anyway, so why not?
