Meet Wesley! (I was too lazy to put my Tumblr handle on so no I didn’t steal this work, my Instagram is chaotic_cartoons, you can find my other work there, in fact that’s where I post most of my art!) He’s my Spiderverse OC that I hope you’ll enojoy! I loved the idea of using a hoop dancer’s regalia as a basis for an indigenous-Canadian Spider-Man! More drawings bellow- low key really hoping someone finds my design cool enough to want to ask me to rp spiderverse because OMG the chokehold this franchise has had on me all these years.

Wesley is a Secwepemc teenager, I’ve always loved hoop dancing and thought it was an excellent theme for expression as hoop dancing was a tradition brought to light in the 1930’s for indigenous people and evolved to follow a lot of hip hop and other contemporary dancing as the decades went on! With his enhanced strength, Wesley’s hoops are not made from the average piping material, but steel wrapped in white leather strips. Though he makes them look easy to maneuver, they are quite heavy and deliver a surprisingly hard blow. I was super inspired by this video bellow I found on Tik tok to make a character that uses hoops as a weapon- full credits the video creator bellow.

As an indigenous Canadian I was low key disapointed in spider-man Canada’s design being just a really basic hockey player lol, so I’ve taken things into my own hands, now I have a version of Spider-Man Canada that acknowledges the country’s indigenous roots.

Ok he’s done

His prosthetics specially designed to conform into feet for walking and talons for shredding prey (Spider-Man). The black feathers on his shoulder, forearms are used as protection as well as a small claw on his wing. And ofc not forget his wings just being pure light weight blades very similar to the show all for slashing.

Keeping his pallet the same as I love the red and black sand found a bearded vulture to complement it. His mask mimics the eye areas of the bird

Don’t mind me…I’m just thinking about how spiders are naturally talented and skilled weavers and they know how to weave their webs and even make functional, stylish homes and nests and whatnot.

So maybe that’s why Spider-Man knows how to sew his suits. He inherited that trait from the spider and just instinctively know how to weave his suits. Maybe. That’s my explanation for it.
