Quick thing, im planning to rewrite plvspw with actual magic and some elements from the concept art I really liked so I'll start with the biggest change.
First of all, its in a universe where the book is actually a magical book that sends people into a fantasy world, it existed long before the Storyteller. Of course theres a reason for this but i'll get into that later.
The Storyteller's big annoucment is moved to the end of the week for one big reason I want to explore.
After the events of The Golden Court, Luke watches in horror that night as Phoenix is whisked away by shades. Maya watches as the Great Witch takes Layton away in Eldwitch woods.
The next day, everything in the town had changed, memories rewritten save for those who had recently fell into the book.
There's two new (treated as always there) Inquisitors in the court, the flashy and prideful Inquisitor Wright and the stoic and mostly silent Inquisitor Layton with outfits based on the evil designs from the art book.
Lets meet them shall we?
Inquisitor Wright
Inquisitor Wright is a showman, influenced by the magic of the fic made spell Memmori, his pride had consumed him whole. Due to this, he treats the trials as a preformance where he is the star, he unconciously knows he's undefeatable although the memory of a 'witch' in purple garb haunts him so.
His appearence is mostly like the coloured 'master theif Phoenix' as i affectionally call him but there are some differences; for one his mask has gold embrodery at the edges, on his lapal is the inquisitor's badge and he has a dark blue cape to add to his showman's persona. His sprites does incorperate the cards.
Inquisitor Layton
Unlike what this concept art presents, my take on an inquisitor layton is a bit different, he is mostly emotionless, the magic of Memmori hardening his heart to the point where his preformance in the court is a sight to behold, his displays of an almost magic to the townsfolk is called logic, the memories of a boy who can talk to animals lingers in his mind. Alone he is terrifying, with Phoenix he is annoyed by the showy inquisitor.
His appearence is a mixure of all three concept art outfits, unlike Phoenix who had a lot of his outfit changed by magic, Layton mostly keeps his base outfit with alterations, his shirt is purple, his hat hides his eyes, although a bandage can be seen dangiling from the shadows, theres also bandages on his neck and hands (although the hand ones are covered by black gloves) he carries a sword cane and in his jacket pocket is a hint coin. He doesn't wear the badge. A sprite or two does incorperate the cane.
At the end, you all may be asking, what happens to Luke and Maya? I'll get into that next time.

i NEED more fics where this concept is explored. i just found out that if you clear your entire health bar while using the magatama in the game, nothing happens, you dont even face a game over screen and can try again to break the psyche locks as many times as you want, and i am disappointed.
i need more people exploring the concept of "soul shattering" after too many misuses of the magatama, what will happen to phoenix and his body, where would his identity go, if it's revertable or not, god i am so curious to know yall's interpretations.
If I ever share anything that was AI generated it is purely by accident. I hate that it's getting harder and harder to tell and it makes me want to never use the internet again. It definitely had its faults, but man I miss the internet of the 2000s so much.
