Introduction

Hello, seekers!

You can call me Seeker or whatever other nickname, as long as it’s polite. I use she/her pronouns and am bisexual. I’ve been practicing witchcraft since August 2023. My craft is eclectic, but I’ve focused more on divination. Here are some things about me:

☾ My account will be about witchcraft, paganism, and related stuff. This account is for me to learn from others and interact with other witches and pagans :)

☾ I’ve been fascinated with the paranormal since I was kid and am a psychic-medium, so I’ll likely post about that too. If you don’t believe in such things, that’s fine! Just please be respectful.

☾ I’m Mexican-American, but am not fluent in Spanish, so apologies if my spanish is a little off. I have a big interest in the Mexica (also known as Aztec) pantheon.

☾ My beliefs are polytheistic and I am currently working with Aphrodite, Athena, Hermes, and Mórrígan. I consider myself an eclectic pagan, and am interested many pantheons.

☾ My blog is meant to be a safe space. I don’t tolerate any homophobia, transphobia, racism, misogyny, colorism, ableism, bullying, etc. No bigotry. No creeps allowed either! I won’t hesitate to use the block button as I see fit.

Even if we don’t share the same beliefs, I love learning with others. As long as your beliefs aren’t harmful or discriminatory, and you’re respectful, don’t be shy to interact! 🌹

I’ve felt disconnected from my craft and my deities lately- I’ve been in a limbo of routine after the death of a loved one. I haven’t prayed or given offerings as I often as I should’ve. I started having issues with sleep and my spiritual gifts, and for a moment I thought it was all drifting away from me.

I went on a long walk somewhere new, trying to appreciate the warmer Spring weather and I got a little sign that gave me hope again. I was thinking to myself, hoping the sun and scenery would help me feel renewed. On the ground, I noticed something black and shiny. I thought it was a dead bug at first, so I crouched down and saw that it was actually a little raven figurine. My mind immediately went to the goddess Mórrígan. I took it with me (not just because it was cool but also because it didn’t belong with the wildlife) and felt comforted. To me, it felt like a message, telling me she was still there, even if I didn’t know what was ahead or where I was going. It was also a reminder that even if you don’t see something right away, it doesn’t mean it’s not there.

Anywho, the moment had lifted my spirits, and inspired me to do something related to the Spring. To remind myself that there is still life after death, I started gardening again. It’s slowly getting better and better, and I’m grateful for the support I have. Plus, it’s hard to stay moody when you’re gardening with deer roaming your yard. It’s nice to know that my energy is calm enough for them to be at ease in such close proximity to me.

I know it’s been a hot minute since I’ve last posted, so I wanted to give an update. I really do want to get back into the community here and keep growing with you all. I hope everyone has a lovely Spring!

Spell for your Complexion

What you need:

- Skincare product of your choice -Mirror

Instructions:

While applying your product, repeat this incantation and look into a mirror:

I am beautiful My skin is clear My complexion is luminous I glow within and I glow without With Aphrodite’s blessing, may it be so

Note: With the last line, if you don’t worship Aphrodite, you can always substitute with a deity of your choice. If you don’t include deity worship in your craft, you can also just say “may it be so”.

Haircut Spell for Growth & Renewal

What you need:

- Scissors

Instructions:

While cutting or trimming your hair, recite this incantation:

I cut away that which no longer serves me I remove dead ends from my path I undo knots that block growth I cut away dead branches to invite new life So mote it be

This a simple practice I enjoy doing to freshen up my energy while doing self-care. It also helps to get rid of split ends lol.

Stomp on those that stepped all over you!

I recently did my first baneful(?) spell because I’ve been dealing with very crappy coworkers. I decided that while I’m on the search for another job, I can try easing my current circumstances. I thought it might help other witches in a pinch like me :)

What you need:

- Black candle - Paper - Red Pen/Pencil - Justice card (reversed) - The Moon card (reversed) - The Tower card - Judgment card

Instructions:

Write the name of your target on the paper. Set the tarot cards on the ground in the formation of a circle, and place the paper in the middle. Light a black candle. While the candle is burning, step/stomp on the paper and recite this incantation:

[Name], may your injustices against me be revealed to all. May you crumble under the weight of your actions and may judgement fall upon you. So mote it be.

Note: This will work even better if done on a Saturday, especially on the hour of Saturn too (1am, 8am, 3pm, or 10pm).

hi!! i've just started getting into witchcraft/paganism/spirituality and am VERY MUCH a beginner. like the most beginner u could ever be. ur the first latin witch/bruja i've seen on here (which ik theres probably so many more) and would like to ask u how u felt drawn to the Aztec pantheon. i'm guatemalan but have no idea abt my ancestral roots and am unsure if i can even look into worshipping the mayan gods at all. i understand if u are unable to answer, no worries!

Hi! Firstly, I would like to say that I definitely cannot speak for all of us, especially since I’m reconnecting with my culture too, so take whatever resonates with you and take my words with a grain of salt!

For me, I was drawn to the Aztec beliefs from curiosity, mostly wanting to know more about the stories I grew up with from my family. Whenever my family spent time in Mexico, I always felt a very strong presence that I didn’t understand. I had a feeling it had to do with my heritage, so I started looking at stories here and there. The Mayan civilization was large and did expand to Guatemala. I personally think it’s beautiful to reconnect with our cultures, especially since the disconnection was caused by colonialism. I’d say go for it! I honestly think if you approach with respect and genuine desire to learn, you’ll go a long way. I also have resources on one of my post here if you want something to start from!

I sometimes feel like my gods communicate to me through music sometimes, especially Hermes. Since I’m constantly listening to it for anything I do- drawing, cooking, cleaning, gardening, etc. He knows I’m listening. I’ve made a playlist of songs where I felt his influence or just feel like him. They’ll just be snippets here and there, but they’re so profound at the moment that they linger in my mind. In one instance, I was feeling miserable after a shift, wishing I had accepted another job offer or tried more to get a job I wanted- I actively regretted getting the job while driving home. A song was playing and as I was moping I heard the lyric, “You can never win or lose, if you don’t run the race”. It felt exactly that, a reminder that it’s better to have tried something than left wondering what could have been, even if it’s not outcome we expect, we still learn from it. I calmed down after that, feeling encouraged by what I knew was him. It’s a beautiful thing I find joy in when it happens. I also appreciate the dynamic ways the gods communicate with us.

Connecting with other pagans gone wrong?

I recently went to a small “family friendly” community event for Beltane that was hosted by local pagans. My friend tagged along for curiosity, and I was so excited since they’re usually less open minded. I was glad to take them there and finally meet other pagans. For context, I live in a small town area, so the fact that there were other pagans excited me. I used to host a group for witches in another county, so I was eager to connect with my own community. I brought food since it was also a potluck. When we arrived, I could tell everyone already knew each other and that they were tight-knit. I greeted one lady, but she wouldn’t continue the conversation? I introduced myself and she just told me where to put the food and said we could make flower crowns- not reciprocating my attempts at conversation. Everyone just stared at my friend and I, and didn’t bother to talk to us at all. I wondered if it was because we were decades younger, or if we were new. I just thought it was strange too, since when I hosted gatherings, I was a host. I greeted everyone and talked to everyone to try to make them feel welcome. These people just walked past us like we didn’t exist. My friend told me they felt bad for coming and that they thought they were hindering me from interacting with them. I felt so bad that we just left quietly, leaving the food too so they wouldn’t notice. Now that I took time to reflect on it, I realized that my friend was the only person there who was not white passing- save for one toddler there. I’m not sure if that had to anything with how they treated us, but it is a small town, so I don’t know. I just felt really crappy and embarrassed after, especially after I thought I improved my sociability with my experience running my previous group. The fact that my friend felt apologetic simply for their presence made my heart hurt for them. It was a bummer to see that it was just as clique-y as the Christian churches we used to attend. Apologies for the vent post, but I do hope no else feels that isolation that we did in a group we thought we would belong in. It’s hard to build up a community like ours if we don’t lift each other up.

Hiiii! I was wondering if you have any resources for Mesoamerican mythology that’s good? Can be a website or book or anything really. Trying (desperately) to reconnect with my culture.

Hi!! So, so sorry for not answering sooner, but life happened lol. I’m struggling finding resources myself, considering that many were destroyed (thanks to colonization), or they were traditionally shared orally within our cultures. Some of the best resources I’ve found are often anthropology and history books, but I highly recommend doing research into the authors as well, and determine for yourself whether you trust them or not. From my own personal list here some:

Norse Paganism Recommendations?

I’ve been interested in Norse paganism ever since I started my journey in witchcraft and before I considered paganism. Runes were the first form of divination I was drawn to. However, I’ve hesitant to delve into because of the rampant white supremacy and neo-nazi issues within it. Every time I’ve come across a norse pagan book, the author winds up being shady af. I’ve felt drawn to Odin but it’s difficult finding reliable and safe sources. Are there any norse pagans out there that have book, website, or practitioner recommendations that aren’t bigoted? Any normal resource at this point- I’d be grateful.

So, I'm a Heathen whose faith is heavily focused on Óðinn. The sagas and the Eddas are a great place to start.

I personally like Jackson Crawford's Poetic Edda translation. It's a simple, plain English translation. Carolyne Larrington's translation is another favorite among Heathens.

If you want Heathenry 101 type guides, I can recommend two:

Way of Fire and Ice, by Ryan Smith, is a good intro, but has a very political slant to the left, which I mention partly because that seems more the sort of clear signal you may be looking for, and partly because "mixing politics and religion" isn't some people's cup of tea. Way of Fire and Ice is explicitly leftist, anti-racist, anti-bigotry, and activism-oriented.

A Practical Heathen's Guide to Asatru, by Patricia LaFayllve, is one I really like. LaFayllve is/was a member of The Troth (I don't know her membership status now off the top of my head), which is a well-known inclusive organization among Heathens with a... mixed reputation. I'm a dues-paying member of The Troth, personally, have been for a couple years and have been satisfied with the community I've found there.

I've heard good things about the YouTuber Ocean Keltoi and have used his videos as introductory resources myself, though there was some controversy regarding a falling out between his circle and a friend of his a while back.

Wolf the Red is another YouTuber with good resources, who has recorded and posted some of his personal rituals, if you want an idea of what Heathen rituals might look like.

I'm also going to recommend TheLongship.net for some more theology and practice resources that are absolutely free. Their hearth cult ritual outlines have been indispensable.

Finally, I'm gonna recommend a few Discord communities: Hearth of Wyrd; the Troth's Discord server (though you do have to be a member of the Troth to join); and Skiðblaðnir, an effort by some of the people on Reddit's r/heathenry.

My genuine, biggest suggestion is to begin with academic-type historical research first, and essentially do your *own* reconstruction. Read everything with a critical eye, and figure out what these things mean to you.

Wikipedia is a good jumping off point because it can give you an accessible base level understanding and lead you to more sources that you can delve deeper into. I’d start with looking up Old Norse Religion and see where the research rabbit hole takes you. And remember, when reading ANYTHING your first question should be “what biases do this author have and how may they be showing in their work”

If you enjoy listening to podcasts, Norse Mythology: The Unofficial Guide is very informative regarding the myths and stories.

Across all of YouTube, the best Norse pagan channel is, hands down, Ocean Keltoi. He's a well-informed, practicing Norse pagan, and has videos on nearly any god or subject you can think of!

Dionysus Dream?

I had a dream that I was in a beautiful place with lush greenery. There was a table filled with food and drinks. I remember a beautiful man and woman. There was a leopard too, but I wasn’t afraid, surprisingly. I recall talking to them both, but I don’t remember about what. I was just so relaxed that it felt like a nice break. They suggested I have some wine, but I was hesitant since I don’t like the taste of it. They told me this wasn’t regular wine, so I decided to try it. It was so good, I had never tasted anything like it. It was fragrant and I actually drank the whole cup. I enjoyed my time with them and the dream faded. This happened some time ago, I didn’t come to the realization until way later that I might’ve dreamt of Dionysus and Ariadne. I don’t know why it didn’t click in my head until later. I’m not sure if it meant anything, but it was a lovely dream to experience. I had a dream of Hermes before, and he confirmed that it was him. I’m curious to ask Dionysus too, though I’m not sure since the dream was awhile back. I don’t if it be rude to ask since it’s probably been a few months. Has anyone else experienced similar dreams with the gods?

Beauty & Scent Spell

What you need:

-Nature scented lotion, body oil, or perfume -Yourself

Instructions:

While applying whatever is your scent of choice, recite these words. Of course, if you don’t identify as a woman, you can always replace it with men or people in the incantation. This is just how I say it to suit me.

I’ve noticed that ever since I started working with the Mórrígan I haven’t had spirits be invasive in my home. I also used to deal with really awful sleep paralysis episodes, but I haven’t had a single one since then. I know it’s going to sound silly (especially at my grown age), but I’m finally comfortable to sleep without lights. I was always vulnerable to draining entities and really odd encounters with the paranormal growing up, and some experiences were so bad that I couldn’t sleep without a light on for years (not that it helped much anyway). I’m very grateful for her. It’s nice to have my space as my own. Her protection seems silent and subtle, but it’s so incredibly strong. Thanks to her, I am finally comfortable in the shadows and remember the beauty of the darkness that comes with the night.
