The taste of blood. Smoke in the air ghosts over crimson splattered across his bottom lip and drips onto his chin. They’ve won today. Barely scraping by with what numbers they had as they diminished one painstaking scream of a battlecry after another. But, in the end, the numbers counted alone tells the story that good won over evil and that’s---that’s what was destined to happen this day. No matter of the ache in his bones and bruises dotting his flesh. The cuts and the wounds and all the battered and broken pieces would heal. Eventually. There’s such a temptation, however.

To close his eyes and drift off. One pulse of ache after another. One inhale of gray soot and the smell of victory bathed in blood spilled, in people who won’t be going home on both sides, after another whispers to him to let it carry him away. Only for a little rest. Only until the worst of it passes and he’s able to get on his feet again. And, yet, he’s being pulled into someone’s lap--against someone’s chest and he hears a voice that draws his attention back to the present. Back to reality. Back to her.

A curl of blood red lips into a wobbly, tired smile and he tries to puff out a chortle of laughter before it’s cut short with a set of cinched teeth and a sharp intake of air through them. He grimaces and cracks a blue eye up to her. Voice strained. Dry. Thor answers. “Anything but a coffin. Let alone, a coffin with a bill shoved inside..” Another slow breath. He’s trying to ease her nerves. Worry for him? He’s never been good at receiving it. “Here lies Thor. Son of Odin. Who owes twenty dollars for the shirt he ruined. Not quite the legacy I imagined..”

// okies. time to try and stop thinking about stuff a lil. sorry for the quiet. this past week has been a rollercoaster. my brain and emotions have been so scattered. most of the time my focus has been keeping my wife distracted with video games, a trip to the coast, and just getting her out of her head as much as possible. that said!

i’m needing to do that, too. big time. so! i’m going to get to work on my blogs. starting here on thor. i might fix up buck some afterwards before i dig in. he needs some remodeling and some cobwebs cleaned out. doesn’t he always tho? :P

thanks for all your support. it means a lot to me. especially those who have dealt with my quiet or my ups and downs with my moods. it hasn’t gone unappreciated. trust me.

Be kind to oc writers.

Be they young, old, new to rping and writing, or if they’ve been here for longer than you have… they have decided to create someone new and wonderful and share it with you for free.

So please: engage with them. Talk about their ocs. Try to learn about their story and their world. You may find you like them a lot more than you’d planned, and the writer will thank you endlessly for the interest. All your canon characters are their creators’ ocs, after all. Just because they have been published and shared with the world on a broader scale does not make them more valid.

So please, remember: when someone gives you an oc, that is a piece of themself. It is a piece of their heart and a representation of all the work, time, and effort it took to get them to that point.

They’re trusting you with it. Be gentle and show them respect.

[ umbrella ]: a sudden downpour catches the coatless receiver off guard, and the sender helpfully offers some shelter. (Listen, but it's no umbrella, it's the shield)

Above his spot on the secluded bridge inside Central Park (the gate was closed, it didn’t stop him from taking a stroll), it seems like the sky simply opened up and decided to pour buckets. He was in a simple t-shirt and jeans, dressed to suit his surroundings in a city that often made him only another face in a crowd. No one to recognize. No one to bother with. It was nice for a change when it worked. Tonight? It did. Which suited his fit of nostalgia. As heavy as it was. 

Now? Head bowed and blond hair dripping or stuck to his neck, he can’t help laughing at the fact that he isn’t sure if he subconsciously did this. Or if nature was simply being nature and taking care of her own business. He blows a breath out, little droplets of water drip from the point of his nose.

And then it all stops. Dark comes too. Only a little but it’s an odd enough that his hands are still being rained on but his head and shoulders aren’t that he has to look up and he sees and senses and feels the familiar sight of an arm and straps and the curve of a SHIELD.

“Showing up right when needed. Still haven’t lost that, I see.” And there’s such a deep fondness in his voice that it’s warmth is palpable. He reaches up, fingers curl around Steve’s elbow and squeeze in greeting as the other joins him. Shield above their heads. Thor’s eyes are full of happiness. “Isn’t there some saying? Shelter from a storm? Something like that. Taking on that role now, are we? It’s good to see you..”

joker’s kicked her out again ( her fault – she should know better than to try to distract him while he’s working on his latest scheme. )  nowhere to go but the nearest bar,  harley has drunk half her weight in dirty shirley’s.  stupid clown.  she’ll show him that she’s worth his time —- she’s just got to find the perfect target.  maybe she’ll break into wayne enterprises,  steal something top secret and important.  or maybe gotham national bank – though it’s a little unoriginal.  as harley’s stumbling down an alley,  pondering her grand escapade,  she sees a familiar figure – if only from the evening news.  tall,  blonde,  flowing red cape – thor odinson.  

well,  if that doesn’t impress mr. j – harley charges towards the god / alien / @stormworthy​ ( she’s not really sure ),  fists raised.  she hits him square in the chestplate,  breaks her hand immediately on impact. “ fuck! ” 

“Yes! And don’t you think about doing that again! Or next time---!” Problem with threatening putting a few knocks (and shocks?) into a little street thug of a man trying to rob an innocent older woman of what money she might have? They don’t stick around long enough for you to finish what you had to say once you’ve backed up and let them start running. The would-be assailant is half a block away. Out of earshot in the time it takes him to get half the threat out and he’s left mumbling the rest under his breath, “I’ll do more than make you wet your pants,” and kicking rocks. 

One turn and she comes at him in a blur. A tiny woman in a blur of motion and punshes him right in the metallic chestplate. Thor doesn’t move. Well his brows shoot up. And his mouth drops open. Ow? He hears the bones in her hand shattering and instantly makes an OUCH! face for her. Nose scrunched. Eyes crinkled. Mouth in a cringe. That had to hurt. Judging by the colorful word she used that he’s grown quite fond of himself in particular situations. (This isn’t it. Not by a long shot.) Blue eyes pan across her face. He recognizes her. Eyes squint. “Is this how you introduce yourself to most people? I can see why you’ve been called armed and dangerous,” and he tries not to laugh, “Should we..fix that or would you like to try with the other hand..?”

a bloody pair of boots (Clint)

Crimson melts into muddy brown as the blood pools then spreads into nothing underneath Thor’s boots. Seems that every crack of lightning and roll of thunder overhead comes from each twitch and flinch of the corner of the god of thunder’s eye or the fingers that hang cupped together underneath the opposite palm where his chin rests on top of that hand. Elbows against his knees, hair slick with water. He’s not moved from the fallen tree he’s taken a seat upon. Pale eyes stare out towards the scene. 

Their enemies? Dead. The day? Saved. And, yet, he finds himself wondering when the next threat will come. They always do. More often than not, it seems, lately. That something is brewing. Something bigger. Something more than perhaps the downpour of his storm might be able to wash away.

Or that might be his mind playing tricks on him. Telling him the fight is never over. 

Thor only wishes that fate would prove him wrong. That the peace would last longer than it feels like it does. A strand of blond falls from the mess of a bun he’d tied it into earlier that day. Something to keep it off his face while he and Barton sparred in this same field. Until what just took place unfolded and sparring became bloody and as real as the corpses that would need to be buried. Or put to sea in the ocean not too far from where they picked to stay.

He hears the archer approach and looks towards him, turning his chin against his hand. A small smile. Reassurance offered. The other must be tired. There were plenty of them and Clint is not getting any younger. “Remind me that next time you offer to go a few rounds? To request that we out the actual fighting,” a small laugh and he turns a bit more serious, “Any idea from where they came?” Otherwise. He may have a few.. Considering.

“Hello, brother…”

The last person he’d been expecting to cross paths with was Thor. Especially as the last time he’d seen him had been in the battle of New York. He’d changed since then and judging by the way Thor looked he had changed, too. There was also the fact that the other hadn’t ever expected to see him. At least he could say the feeling was mutual. He would’ve rather not crossed paths with his brother. New York had taught him that when their paths crossed his own plans never succeeded. And while Loki was still contemplating ruling over Earth his perspective had definitely changed. To the point that he just might be able to lie about what he was doing there. If Thor thought he was still looking to rule he could keep him from finding out he was looking for someone who had destroyed the timeline instead. “I see you’re still finding trouble no matter where you go.”

Shopping bags hang from his careful grip. Gifts and baubles for a little one waiting at home (or, rather, the home they’ve made for now) that he’s chosen in hopes of her liking them. There’s a certain lightness in his chest that bubbles up each time he sees that sparkle in her eyes and the rosiness in her cheeks that he’s grown fond of chasing after ever since he learned he was capable of putting it there. The color suits her. Pink cheeks and a blush across her forehead. Rather than the hollow white and pallid ghostly emptiness he encountered upon their first meeting. It’s chilling. Reminds him of moments in his past. The ones where his brother--eyebrows burrow together and his chin tucks down. Could’ve sworn he heard his voice so clearly that the hairs on the back of his neck stand on edge. It draws his attention towards the direction it came from and his expression goes blank when he comes face to face with.. 

“Loki...?” No. No. LOKI IS DEAD. He’s come to terms with that. Put that monster of HOPE away. His expression twists. Pain, then a rise of his brows in a broken dream and the hesitation of disbelief. Stunned still, there’s barely a sound he can make other than the bags hitting the ground as the thunderer’s head tilts to it’s side and he forces his lips around a threat that barely holds much punch behind it.. “I don’t know who you are. But.. If this is some sort of trick..you’ve picked the wrong face to wear if you think that’ll win you my favor,” he swallows around a lump in his throat wishing anger would come and coming up so very empty handed.
