Dear Stormyth-art,
I would like to kindly ask for your guidance regarding the start of an animation channel focused on creating original stories and fictional universes.
In particular, I would appreciate your advice on how to begin this type of project from scratch, as well as what you would consider a strong first video for the channel. I am unsure whether it is better to start by presenting the world, developing a narrative scene, or introducing the characters directly.
Additionally, I would be interested in your opinion on the best way to introduce characters in a natural and organic manner within the story, avoiding overly expository explanations or character sheet-style presentations, and instead allowing the audience to learn about them through the narrative itself.
Please note that English is not my native language. I also apologize for the formality of this message, as this is my first time reaching out to a content creator in this way, and I wanted to be respectful and clear.
Thank you very much for your time and any advice you may be able to provide.
Sincerely,
Hi there!
I started my youtube channel many years ago and have tried a lot of different things before finding any amount of success. So I'm honestly not sure what would be a good starter video. I personally have found the videos of mine that draw in the most new viewers are my character design challenge videos. I think that's a great kind of video to give people a taste of your art style and also writing abilities! :D
Character design videos with some sort of concept like "characters based on ____" or using Pinterest to inspire characters, etc. are great for making contained characters and stories that new viewers can get the whole story in one video from.
Then, once you have a bit of an audience that already likes the kind of characters and stories you make, that's when I would start sprinkling in your more long term characters and stories.
As for introducing characters narratively, I am very much a self taught writer, so I don't feel super qualified to give writing advice haha
I'd say something to maybe keep in mind is to reveal things about the characters where it narratively makes sense? Like, you don't have to say everything about a character all at once. The characters backstory should serve a purpose to the story you are trying to tell if that makes sense.
I think a good thing to do that helps me with my own writing is analyzing existing media you like! thinking about why they choose to reveal things at what times and how they go about things you might want to implement in your own work!
I hope this is all helpful to you in some way! I appreciate you reaching out and I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful!! I wish you the best of luck on all your projects!! <3
I've had a few people mention wanting to make a Chosen Ones Academy OC so here's some things that may help! :3
pls tag me if you do, I would loooove to see ahhh!!!
