The invasion is over, the Kraang are gone and taken care of...right? When Donnie begins to feel strange one very early morning, things get a little chaotic. Something is wrong with Donnie, and it's very contagious. The Hamato Family tries to figure out what's going on but how do you physically help Someone when you can't touch them? On the other hand, Draxum knows all too well what they're dealing with. He's gotten close to the Hamato Family, although he'd never admit it, but was he close and comfortable enough to share his past? To share who he really is behind the "Warring Warrior Scientist"?

The predicament the Hamato Family find themselves in is dire, life threatening, and they don't have much time. Will Draxum help them, despite what happens to himself? Despite what he might have to reveal?

Ahem. Anywhizzle. I have spend 42 hours on this, tried many new brushes an techniques, and I'm pretty confident saying that this is my best piece yet!! If I were to do it again, I'd change a couple things and def go about rendering a bit differently, but hey what's done is done and now I've learned for next time! I think it looks good enough

OH MY SOUL.

zooms in on the immense detail and love, blood, sweat, and tears you've poured into this art.

Let us pick this apart shall we? Buckle in y'all this is gonna be a bit long. Ahem

The details in both the feathers on his body and his wing feathers are nothing short of phenomenal. There is so much love and detail in each feathered stroke. The shading and lighting within those feathers makes me want to zoom in as much as I can to appreciate the amount of detail you put into each and every single one and THE FACT THAT'S DONE ON EACH AND EVERY SINGLE FEATHER IS APPRECIATED!! And the rough skin of his hands, forearm, and feet as well. The colors are so vibrant and cheerful, yet the colors surrounding him are bleak, and dark. You took no shortcuts and I see you. I see the love you have for this character and by golly it makes me want to know more about him and your harpies.

And that leads us to the emotion category of this museum worthy art.

Fear. Panic. Maybe a little dread. A little surprise is on his face. Was he betrayed by someone he trusted? Someone he thought he knew and held dear? The world seems to be caving around him and the deeper he plunges the more he might let that darkness bury him. The emotion is so vivid, so deep, that I feel his emotion through this tiny box in my hands.

And yet it almost seems like he has hope as he falls. His arm reached out to the heavens above him, hoping someone will grab his hand and pull him back up above the soul crushing darkness below him. He wants to be saved. He wants that hope to be revived in this person that might have betrayed him.

Hope, despair, worry, fear, panic.

As artists, we sometimes draw things that display emotions we might be feeling. It's our way to express ourselves. That being said, I hope you're doing alright, Maple 🩷.

All that to say. I love this piece. It's so heartbreakingly beautiful. Splendidly well done, my friend. I toss my hat to thee.

Working with texturing and focal points on this piece! Just honing in on what I want to direct the eyes to first, and leaving the rest less-rendered. The glow effect on this was a must, but I unfortunately couldn’t add all the specific Lumas for the sake of time 💛💚💜

Finally finished the sketches from this post! I’m really happy with how they turned out, especially Star Fox ✨

I used Prismacolor pencils for these; quick little artist’s rant: I absolutely love these color pencils and would highly recommend them if you enjoy coloring. They’re very smooth and blend nicely, and you can get them in numerous different colors. I know a lot of pros use them, but I just wanted to give my personal recommendation :) (They can be quite pricey the more you buy, but honestly they’re a very worthwhile investment if you color a whole lot)
